Yeah, the second reason Zaiyu is considering having Sasori look at Akira is that Sasori will probably be able to sense any magic Zaiyu fails to notice. Mana eaters have to be able to tell what is and isn't edible, after all.

It's with this update I am strongly reminded that we are, in fact, Space Cat-Boys. There is no 'sit' in Estil society: only floating, reclining, spitefully reclining and various levels of 'pounce'. I look forward to Zaiyuu revealing to Akira the only way he can 'sit' is by draping himself over things like a 19th Century Victorian woman prone to fainting.
