Yeah, maybe, honestly I'm kind of glad that plans aren't enabled because winning just for a shitpost would feel a bit silly honestly. It's super mono-focused and while that does make sense, I kinda like the actual thought that other people have put into things.


Anyway, a rough tally glance says that we're getting something of an interesting character, a bit of a stereotypical battle orientated Loremaster, with a side job outfitting the company with some higher quality gear and the ability to not insult the monkeys Humans

-Bonus to resisting corruption
Survivor of the Battle of the Holy Flame

Edit: leaving aside us negotiating to be paid in magical artefacts if the patron simply owns them of course. That seems like an extremely niche circumstance since no one would want to give something like that up.

I'm imagining we can get Lightfang-tier artifacts from other Elves like Smiths of Vaul, leaders of nations, that sort of stuff. I'd imagine our starting artifacts aren't things you can purchase but that we earn for battlefield glories or for doing something amazing, like our ancestor did to get Lightfang.

If we're talking more "mundane" magical Elven gear (but still high-tier stuff that Elven commanders get) like what we're probably going to be able to make with Student of the Anvil then those could be purchased, bartered, gifted and such from sources that have those things. Maybe in troop selection we'd get a choice of a particularly talented Elven smith as part of our retinue.

Also, I'm sure the amazing-ness, power, loot, and fame of being a commander offsets the responsibilities and limitations therein (all increasing proportionately). As an extreme example, no one ever goes, "Oh Tyrion, it must suck being the commander all the forces of the Kingdoms of Ulthuan. Better to be in the frontlines swinging your sword than be stuck with responsibilities like defending all of Ulthuan from the armies of Chaos."

And don't forget that Student of the Spear syncs well with Knight of Tor Gaval since a disproportionate amount of flying things are beasts and monstruous creatures IIRC, especially Chaos flying things.

Don't forget the fact that our hunger for the secrets of the universe was so powerful that we knowingly broke a law from the Phoenix Throne that we knew existed for very good reasons and took a Lizardmen Plaque back to Ulthuan with us...

...yeah I'm really glad we're getting that bonus to resist corruption with that kind of overwhelming hunger/curiousity for lore baked into our backstory

Without that resistance, Tzeentcian temptation will be very, very real. Even with it, I suspect Tzeentch would be a recurring chaos god we have to contend with.

Given that we're exiled from Ulthuan and all the colonies (including enclaves like in Marienburg) and the main source for these things would be other Asur I'm not sure getting access to those kind of markets will be anything short of extremely difficult.

And on top of that we have powerful enemies in Ulthuan who want to knife us (comes with being a an exiled Princess and it's presumably for getting someone they loved killed by bringing a Lizardmen taskforce into Ulthuan due to our greed) so they would likely sabotage us at every turn to stop us getting access to Ulthuani trade networks/use intelligence to pin down our location and try and have someone stab us.

With regards to Asur workings specfically, I don't think we're going to be around other Asur enough if at all to get the opportunity to get fancy stuff from them. And the Dawi hate us for being Asur so that rules out both of the premier magic item makers of the world that aren't in league with dark powers in almost every circumstance we're going to find ourselves in.

Hey I don't disagree. I'm voting for it. There's huge synergy with using the monsters we kill from our anti-Chaos specialty for more stuff which we use for our own equipment or to sell or such.

That said we should never graverob a Dawi.

In fact, it'd be all that more satisfying to treat it all with proper respect and dignity and even bring the gear back to the nearest hold or something. If we're gonna be an Asur we might as well be smug about the fact that we're being nice to them. So not only do we avoid making enemies by going in a book we get to flex a little on people who hate us and they can't do anything about it because we're doing them a favour.

Word of GM that you cannot make something of that level. But it would be extremely, incredibly hard to acquire.

The Lightfang is only balanced against the other options by the fact that it's going to infuriate the dawi that an elgi has an ancient gromril runesword and they can't honourably seek to reclaim it from her.

Highly resistant to physical and soul corruption, but no special resistance to mental corruption beyond what centuries of experience gives you.

Elves tend to more often develop mental illnesses from exposure to Chaos rather than fall to Chaos directly. Something about immortality just kinda makes it hard for the Dark Gods to get their hooks on you.

Student of the Anvil lets you make "low-end" artefacts with some investment, which would be "mid-tier" for human magical items, insofar as you can quantify such things.

It's basically the starter set of elven magical crafting.

Which would make Kislev an attractive choice for us. An overabundance of Chaos assholes to gank and it's far enough away from Ulthuan and any Elven colonies that I know of that it should be hard to track us.

Y'know, other than following the rumors and stories of a badass, buff Elven woman with an anti-Chaos sword once they ask around Erengrad. But at least the weather should slow them down.

If it's Dawi, like you said we return it to the nearest hold.

If it's Chaos we purge it with extreme prejudice. We may be greedy and insatiably curious enough to steal from Lizardmen, but we should damn well not be dumb enough to fuck around with Chaos Shit, especially as a Yvressian.

That would explain why Slaanesh is so persuasive, they're inclined to greater extremes of natural traits from Chaos exposure and Slaanesh is all about extreme excess.

Edit: I'm going to be honest, a significant proportion of the reason I want to be able to magically craft beyond all the more pragmatic reasons I set out earlier in the threat is... basically that 'I just think they're neat' Marge Simpson meme. It's a cool extra dimension to the chracter.

@Blackout, could we develop the Student of the Anvil skill to the point we could make our own Fireclaws eventually?

It doesn't seem like it's going to win, so I'm wondering if we could work our way up to crafting our own in time.
