i would assume a party sized group if we could buy heros, 4-5 since an elf hero is good. Maybe not army killing level by themselves but a party of elf heros would be very good at precision operations, or acting as champions in a bigger battle I suppose.

At that point, we gotta ask ourselves what would motivate other Asur to come along with our Loremaster-in-exile if a party of heroes and retainers has merit.

Friends I imagine, or possibly loyalty to their noble liege if we're above the basic noble rank. After all we haven't decided why we were exiled yet or our social situation if I recall correctly.
 
Friends don't let friends get exiled into untamed barbarian lands (relatively) by themselves. It may only be a couple centuries anyways, with luck- a very violent vacation.
 
We're going to be the elven power rangers! One from every region of Ulthuan! I can't wait for Archeon, right as he's about to kill Karl Franz, to get knocked away, only to see ten high elves in different coloured jumpsuits and armour block him from the emperor.
