2nd? We've only really had to deal with 1 abnormality at a time. I'd say it's currently 1st. Sure there's a couple Alephs floating around but they've been in the background for long enough that the intensity level has dropped and we can just say there's nothing there at the moment. :V

I wonder. What the heck was Big Bird doing before Homura and we stopped him?

If he was running around "saving" people, the news of headless corpses constantly appearing would've been extremely noticeable. And yet, he was completely undetected.

Did he hold himself back for that long until he decided that people need saving? And if so why?
 
Like, with Blue Star and Army in Black, those two appeared nearby us right after we got isekaied to this world. So it wasn't a problem whether they were hidden or not.

But with Big Bird, he has also been here from the start with us, all the way back when P Bird first appeared in the side story.

He's the least intelligent member of the three birds. How the hell did he not cause a massacre up until now?
 
Possibly, he is wandering around in some parts of the city is not that witch infested and not that many people are dying.

I find it probable that all abnormalities either spawned inside of barriers or went inside one soon afterwards. So it had to both 1 Have motivation to leave (CLM activation) as well as a way to get out of the barrier without killing the witch (Which it was tied to).

Do they even have Barriers? P Bird, Der Fruity didn't need any. Porccubus only had a Barrier because a Witch went out of her way to approach it. Big Bird didn't have a barrier as far as I remembered.

Edit: Well, damn. Lepid gave you an insightful...So that make it even more mysterious.

I recall guessing that Abnos all spawned in Saplings to begin with (until a Witch comes rolling around, perhaps?)

Or maybe Alephs need to spawn with Witches?

P bird always escapes, we all know this. Big bird escapes after it sees painful death. Porccubus doesn't escape without major problems. I am fairly certain that if they weren't in barriers we would have to deal with a mountain sized MoSB or a city filled with nothing but slime. The way that I think of it, a witches Barrier is about as effective at holding an abnormality in as a containment unit. If that abnormality breaches we have to defeat it as it is sustaining itself on it's own power. But until then we simply have to in essence succeed a work in some way (Remove power source -> Repression)
(Solve current problem -> Instinct)
(Fulfill their ideal -> Attachment)
(Discovering something new -> Insight)
 
That's another problem if they "escape" the normal way they do.

MoSB also always escapes if there's death in the facility. He's the biggest Clerk Lifes Matters member, hell one can even say that he's the founder of CLM, so where is he?

Please keep in mind that any amount of death is noticeable, particularly the death rates. I imagine the missing person rates are skewed and no one really knows because that's how they've always been but when a slew of decapitated bodies or whatever other abnormality murders shows up, the jump in statistics can be noticed and seen as strange, Like, if more then a hundred people die before Walpurgisnacht, the yearly homicide quota for all of Japan itself would be fulfilled before the year was even up. And that's in normal japan, not "Some girl keeps wishing Technology is Better" Japan, that may or may not have "I wish justice would be swift" or some variant of it happening to make murder or death less common.

TL;DR: Kyubey has his work cut out for him

I think of it like this Big Bird's Entire gimmick is being able to see forever meaning that there only needed to be 25, Mountain of Smiling Bodies will probably be activated once at least one person dies in the same barrier he is in or someone tries to fight him while injured.

MoSB most common way of breaching is 20 employees death. Why would that particular one change?
Edit: Nevermind. Just realized why.
It's 20 dead corpses that draw MoSB out. So unless they aren't cleaned up, he won't come out. And QB is diligent enough to clean up the corpses.

Because it can grow indefinitely now, there's no limit to its growth.
And it grows quick, Five normal human body and it grows into second phase. Three or four more, it grows to 3rd phase, and it becomes a problem that is very hard to deal with with our current setup unless I forgot something. and without limits, it will just keep growing until there's nothing left to eat anymore.
Unless we get together and kill it as fast as possible, it'll become a bigger problem than anyone can imagine, and corpses will get piled up higher than Mount Everest.

Speaking of the possible reasons for Abnormalities to appear in the Witch Barriers, the most likely reason is probably the fact that it is not a normal physical space, and thus it is much easier for embodied ideas to come into the world that way. Even X first entered this world not directly but through the Barrier.
 
One thing interesting is how Barriers warp the world around them to suit the witches.

Comparing this to the Library and I can see why abnormalities are atttacted to these barriers.

Yes, and sorry it took so long for me to get back. Life, uh, happened. And kinda is still happening. Still, I've read the discussion and my mind isn't changed. The sooner the witchbomb is disarmed, the better.

X can definitely understand what Mami might think. Unintentionally sending people that put their trust in her to their deaths? Or worss? X has done that. Fearful of turning into a monster? X is living with that. I can't think of a better person to talk to her about this.

And genuine question, what could Mami do that X would doesn't have a response to? If she tries to harm herself or someone else, X can restrain her until she's calm. If her Grief is overflowing, X has Lobotomy, or if there's concern about repeatedly using Lobotomy on someone, there's a big pile of Grief Seeds here.
