Levi hesitated. "Here's the thing: the QM is a sapient person, so attempting to manipulate him in any way is wrong right from the get-go. He's also relatively intelligent and vastly more powerful than us, which means that he's likely to notice attempts at manipulation and doing anything that even hints that we might want to can cause backlash. Because of all that, it's a bad idea to go meta and imply that he will do something merely to placate you, instead of respecting his autonomy and giving the benefit of the doubt that he can still produce an entertaining story either way.
I was already leaning pretty heavily towards catkin because I like the idea of super-agile Calliope on a hovering skateboard, plus I have ideas for a wide variety of cat-themed powers that seem like they'd be fun both to read and write. My plan was to talk to an IRL friend who plays this quest and basically give him a chance to convince me out of doing catkin. Now? Now I want to say "Catkin wins because don't imply that you're threatening me with salt."
Buuut, I try not to be petty, and I try to read with charitable intent, so maybe I should interpret the quoted comment as "I think the QM is a really nice guy who, since he's waffling on the choices, will allow the preferences of my faction to be the tie-breaker, despite the fact that we only tied and did not actually win." Or perhaps "I'm telling myself that catkin will lose, simply so that if it does then I'm prepared and if it doesn't then I'm pleasantly surprised."
I'll talk to my friend and give him a chance to convince me that "chronan with three time powers" would be more fun for me to write than "catkin with a larger array of utility- and social-oriented powers".

seems like carl's group is more likely to be noticed but less likely to be followed/favoritedThis might be interesting to some: (A brief comparison of follower count between us, Carl and Donut.) (end of floor counts Only)

Looks like Moose is beating out on the followers and favorites count at the end of second floor.
Also note that I stacked Carl and Donut's stuff together because it's kinda hard telling whose count it is but I'm gonna guess it's actually Donut's counts.
To be fair: Taylor has experience cultivating and maintaining an audience due to his YouTube career. Granted, it's not a 100% carryover, and he doesn't have his thumb on the pulse of his audience, but he also has Levi and the talkshow hosts as advisors to help guide him through this new and unfamiliar medium.seems like carl's group is more likely to be noticed but less likely to be followed/favorited
Carl, does have a few people that can help him deal with an audience. To be fair: Taylorbhas experience cultivating and maintaining an audience due to his YouTube career. I haven't read DCC, but I think it's reasonable enough that Carl would draw views by being pantsless and barefoot (sex sells, after all), but then lack the media training to keep them around. I don't think Carl is an entertainer/artist in the way that Taylor is?

We did very well in race/class selection to pick appealing options for viewers. Chad's play well, either way Leo fits well in Team Trick shots aesthetic, and Taylor has enough charisma to pull off being self-twinsiirc thewas said to be the floor 2 fight with the highest view count in the history of the crawl, or something like that. It's suspenseful, spectacular, and people have a lot of time to hear of it and tune in whilefight against the Rage Elementalnot to mention the attention they had already been getting from Odette's show. It would have been extremely unexpected to get even close to their view count, but as has been said, Team Trickshot's viewership seems more dedicated.Carl is preparing the Mother of All Bombs in the saferoom,
We probably won't find out until the next chapter. When Taylor is touching another crawler does he get a list of actionables he can copy or does he have to know which one he wants in advance?
I haven't read DCC either, but I did read Eaglejarl's DCC fanfic Dungeon Crawler Katia, which he says doesn't diverge from canon until chapter 37, and in it Carl specifically mentions he was part of the Coast Guard.I haven't read DCC, but I think it's reasonable enough that Carl would draw views by being pantsless and barefoot (sex sells, after all), but then lack the media training to keep them around. So if Drew uses the cheat potion without picking a new spell will it pick from what he already has, or will it pick from among the wizard supremacist list he doesn't have access to?Final Decisions for Drew
Author's Note: We're voting on what decisions Drew made when he got his Wizard Supremacist class for this floor. Here's the format we're using:
[x] Plan name here
- [x] copy/paste one of the potential picks here
- [x] copy/paste one of the potential picks here
See below for the list of potential picks.
I will ignore any vote that is misformatted or that leaves out one of the components. The previous vote was a mess and we're not doing that again. In particular, copy and paste the potential picks. Do not try to write them out longhand and screw it up.
Drew gets two choices from the following list. He IS allowed to choose the same things twice:
Repeating from an earlier chapter: "Cheat Code potions increase a random skill or spell that you've recently used, usually by 3," Levi said. "They have a short shelf life, meaning that you need to use them immediately. Study Guide and Mastery Unlock are similar, but Study Guide increases the rate at which the chosen item trains, usually by 5%, and Mastery Unlock allows the item to train to level 20."
- 500,000 gold pieces
- 300 mana potions
- 20 mana potions that disregard cooldown
- A Cheat Code potion that will affect one of your spells
- A Study Guide potion that will affect one of your spells
- A Mastery Unlock potion that will affect one of your spells
- A spellbook of Invulnerability
- A spellbook of Grease
- A spellbook of Flash Freeze
- A spellbook of Bouncer
- A spellbook of Fuck Off
- A spellbook of Summer Scent
The spells are as follows:
Levi's assumption is that when you go down to the next floor you will lose access to any spells that you choose but will keep any physical objects (i.e. gold, mana potions, or spellbooks). You can not keep the Cheat Code, Study Guide, or Mastery Unlock potions, since those need to be used immediately. However, they apply to a randomly-chosen spell, and if they affect a spell that you already had instead of one of the new ones then you will probably keep the benefit.
- Invulnerability: Make yourself immune to damage for a very short time
- Grease: Coat an area and everything/everyone in it with extremely slippery grease. Spherical AOE centered at a range that is still TBD but long enough not to catch you
- Flash Freeze: A cone of freezing cold shoots out. Freezes water (good for crossing rivers), coats everything in frost, extinguishes minor fires, etc
- Bouncer: The ground, walls, and ceiling become rubberized. Prevents falling damage, allows you to jump really high and ricochet off walls, etc
- Fuck Off: Emits a burst of kinetic force from your body that will push everything away without damaging it (unless it slams into something)
- Summer Scent: Cleans the air in a wide area around you, leaving only clear, breathable air with a faint scent of cut grass and peaches. If there is no air around you then air is generated. Does not activate allergies
Note: Originally Drew was supposed to get additional picks off the list of spellbooks. That was a mistake and has been retconned in the earlier chapter.
There will be a vote for Moose's class as soon as I finish up the list of options. I am willing to take suggestions, although I may not use them and I might change them if I do.
I'll give you at least until for voting and then if things are still going strong we can maybe extend it. I don't want anyone to feel rushed.
Class benefits are applied in order, so he'll already have gotten some Wizard Supremacist spells (Annihilation Dart, Shield) by the time he gets the gear.So if Drew uses the cheat potion without picking a new spell will it pick from what he already has, or will it pick from among the wizard supremacist list he doesn't have access to?
Hmm.Class benefits are applied in order, so he'll already have gotten some Wizard Supremacist spells (Annihilation Dart, Shield) by the time he gets the gear.
Remember that we only keep the spells next layer if we can level them, and pumping them as high as possible right now will make them harder to level. Therefore the study guide potion is probably not great. Similarly, although the cheat code potion could reduce a spell's mana cost I think it could also increase the spell's level, which is similarly to be avoided
So if Drew uses the cheat potion without picking a new spell will it pick from what he already has, or will it pick from among the wizard supremacist list he doesn't have access to?
