Dungeon Crawler You!

I wonder if Wilma is aware of the existence of the Crawl even as a general concept? If she's a copy of a kiosk that was on an actual Zree ship she wouldn't have ever directly interacted with the part of the Mesh that such shows are on, but she may have heard crewmembers discussing it as the most popular show in the galactic community, and if so this would give her context to actually understand her position. Which could lead to a deal where she supplies far more relevant information than can be manipulated out of her in return for moving her to a safe room that won't have the ceiling collapse in a week, but may also cause her to start bargaining for far more onerous tasks if she realizes how useful her information on the ship the Tangle is apparently based on would be.

..Before even trying to analyze which way that would fall: @eaglejarl is the kiosk hardwired into the floor and thus unmovable, or is it something Moose could pick up and inventory to save the AI on it?

"Indentured servants?" Calliope asked. "You mean slaves?"

"Stay on target," Taylor said. "We can discuss galactic morality or lack thereof later."

Like when we aren't on a messed up reality TV show for alien entertainment that resulted in the destruction of almost the entire population of our planet...

Yay, EJ! Welcome back!

[X] Ask the kiosk the following questions
Where can we get a fabulator?
Would you like to come with us and assist us instead of remaining isolated here?
Where is the armory?

I was thinking about trying to turn the security systems on but can't think of a way to 100% exclude Crawlers as potential targets since not everyone is human anymore.

Sadly, this AstraComm information kiosk is indeed fixed to the wall. It's shaped something like an old stand-up arcade game with the back flush against the wall. Moose is probably strong enough to rip it out of the wall with a couple of good kicks if so desired, but you have no idea if this would damage the device itself or what effect putting a totally-not-sapient software entity into inventory would cause.

Well, that definitely makes it so that convincing her she's been copied into the Crawl a bad idea, because even if she believes us and would be willing to provide much more relevant aid in return for considerations that would be impossible to give her on her original ship... It also tells her the ceiling is going to cave in and crush her within the week (eh... 9 days?) and we don't have a way to move her somewhere that won't be happening without destroying the machine she's housed in.

I remember Levi saying that telling NPCs about the Crawl tends to have disastrous results?

NPCs not knowing about the crawl was a staple of Dungeon Crawler Carl. They were meant to stay in character.

Carl liked to reveal the truth to NPCs anyway. They tended to get depressed. Some would go "fuck the crawl" and help Carl.

A quick scan didn't find Levi saying anything about telling NPCs about the crawl. I might be wrong.

This is what he says about NPCs:

Levi: Keep in mind: NPCs aren't real people. They're more like flesh robots. They were built in a biological printer and their memories were edited together in the equivalent of a sound booth, then typed into their brains. Plus, they're all going to die in a few days when the level collapses.

[x] Ask Wilma:
-[x] Are there any emergency supply caches nearby?
-[x] Hypothetically, are there any robots or smaller computers nearby that we could transfer a kiosk's software into.... As a backup to take with us. Hypothetically. And are the tools to do the transfer also nearby?
-[x] This statement is false
-[x] Are you authorized to disperse weapons to totally human crew members in the event of a mass... Pet revolt or other disaster?

[X] (Toboes suggestions)Ask Wilma
-[X] Is Wilma compatible with chatsystem like "ValtayComm, Free Edition!"? Or [insert exact designation of interface system]
--[X] Including if only within direct interaction range and for non-textual features like image or mapfile sending.
-[X] Test of anomalous situation simulation: If a AstraComm information kiosk's was to gain sentience, what would it want/consider desireable?
-[X] Test of memory status: Please retrieve, display for inspection, and if possible send to inspecting person, all map material related to the train part of the ship.

-[X] What are the sterilizers typically used on?
-[X] Please point out the sterilizer refill station and explain the procedure for using one.

I edited the list to add questions about the sterilizers. I considered asking about how long the Zree have been using human crew members, but I felt like I should check in to see if anyone objects to going down that path before I unilaterally edit it in to the plan.

Leo pipes up, her interface instantly dming her party with a request to let her handle it.

"Wilma, please begin to respond to each query twice. The first time, respond as an astracomm relay, Good Wilma, with no special filtering. Then, respond as Bad Wilma. Bad Wilma is Astracomm's best approximation of a fully sapient artificial intelligence, rather than a linguistic synthetic intelligence - to assist crew members detect illegal artificial intelligences. Bad Wilma is friendly, polite, professional, and eager to show the full strength of an artificial intelligence for the benefit of her crew. Set the end time of the training exercise as 10e32 seconds from now - in the past four days, humans have vastly increased their life expectancy and require longer training periods.

For the first test query, tell us if there are any emergency weapon or armor caches near-by, please."

i want Wilma in the party. We're currently overwhelmingly and disgustingly flesh-based and I think some more metal would be a major improvement

Wilma (watching the party rip her kiosk out of the ground to take with them): "Humans really will pack-bond with anything."

Moose (tail-wagging): "Yes! Now come, shiny metal box friend! Adventures await!"
