Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

True. But plots within plots within plots. Molly being a backup could have been set up already. Even if it isn't that, one can't deny that Molly, Lydia and Cindy have a lot of similarities in their current situation and background. This might be a coincidence, but in the reality of angels, demons and potential time travel, all spiced with exalted BS, I don't trust coincidences.
Basically, if you're playing Exalted, and it looks like Sidereal bullpuckey, it's probably Sidereal bullpuckey?

And yeah, the White God's modus operandi in Dresden Files seems to be peak memetic Sidereal bullpuckey.

Tied.

Deliberately so. As a distraction.
The girl who is distracted with indignation about being treated like she is six isnt panicking about the ghost-spectre thing that wanted to wear her like a puppet suit, or all the other random supernatural shit.

Like I said, Big Sister Energy.
Molly knows what buttons to push to get what reactions from girls her age.
Seems more likely to just annoy her, which could in turn make her less cooperative when we're still not yet even close to out of the woods. Yeah, that would be dumb, but betting on the rationality of anyone in this situation, especially a tween, could be counterproductive.

Not in my experience as a a big brother and cousin.
And frankly annoying her is not a concern when you are glowing with green fire and lots of eyes. Scaring her is a much bigger risk.

We are going to have this 10-12 year old on foot with us through hundreds of yards of Undertown at a minimum, possibly miles, with potential combat encounters along the way. She has gone through a series of traumatic events, from the kidnapping to the ghost to the new magic powers. She hasnt eaten or drunk anything since she was kidnapped.

She needs to be distracted from both physical needs and mental trauma, and yet remain functional enough to handle herself in the interim. Pricking her pride is the least abrasive way to do it.

And there's a reason I leaned hard into the cultural touchstones. They provide some context while maintaining enough detachment that we do not scare the kid into catatonia.

Next phase of the rescue: fighting dozens of ghosts and mind controlled ghouls while giving a scared kid a piggyback ride.

Assisting is a thing correct? Could we just let Michael take the lead and assist him?

Those of you voting for Molly to try to calm Cindy should consolidate your votes if you don't want Michael to do it.

Remember that Mab has a hand here.
And while Mab is no match for Uriel in longterm planning and contingencies, she is no slouch in her own right.
Plus, she's just about dealing with the Nemesis infection in her Court, and finding out that her daughter the Winter Lady is infected.

Her making contingencies is very much in theme.

Very much so.
This is a setting where seven words can have major ramifications after all.

Honestly?
I give it perhaps one chance in three that after going after Cindy, getting out of Undertown will require us to piggyback Cindy while Michael carries Lydia. Chasing ghosts may or may not be included :V

OOC? Because our end of story arc XP bonuses depends on how many things we pull off successfully. This incentivizes that we make an effort with as many things that we can reasonably justify IC without risking catastrophe. Here, if we fail, Michael just takes over. No harm, no foul. No reason not to try.

IC? Because Molly has actually been to her home, and there is a good chance the Mathews girls were home upstairs and saw her when she came with Dresden. Or that Mathews mentioned the visit to them. Or they were in town and saw us when we and Dresden stopped to ask directions.

Good arguments that took me from quietly fence-sitting to voting.

Plus, she's just about dealing with the Nemesis infection in her Court, and finding out that her daughter the Winter Lady is infected.
I wonder if it's possible to learn about that IC without getting immediately assaulted by fey.

Maeve is a pretty awful person, but saving her via that ancient sorcery exorcism would earn us some serious debt from Mab and the winter court as a whole.

If word isn't given no debt is given. We can easily get debt out of it though. Also are there ways plenty probably not a current worry though.

Yes. RAW totally says that Sapphire Exorcism could yeet Nemesis infection. That is a game-breaking trump card that we should both totally abuse and also not let anyone know about until we are in a position to totally abuse it. Once Nemesis knows that we can do that, we are going to be a very high-priority target for the Black Council, just because we can reverse their agents and brainwashing with a simple hour-long ritual.

Minus the circumvented who aren't actually infected black council isn't one group after all and those in the same group don't all have the same goals. Though puppets being a thing without being directly controlled is also a thing.

We recognized Outsiders on sight when they attacked Ebenezar. I can think of several alternative options
1)Put points into Perception: Perception 3 to Perception 3 is 8XP. Perception 3 to Perception 4 is 12XP.

2)Craft a magic item to alert us when we're in the presence of someone Nemesis-tainted.
A choker with a pendant that gets cold and reduces the DC for identification fits in the neck equipment slot, for example.
That requires Constructive Convergence of Principles, which is a 5 dot charm/20XP.

3)Buy Hellscry Chakra: 2 dot charm, scenelong, 8XP cost.
If someone's Nemesis-touched, it will show in what we see; we just need to pass a DC6 Per + Occult roll.
Will still need something to alert you to activate the charm.

Frankly, we should be buying Hellscry Chakra soon anyway, and abuse it hard.
It allows us to identify supernatural beings, and see the particulars of people's auras, with things they want to keep secret.
And we regain Essence by learning other people's secrets.

An argument for CCP, on the other hand, is enchanting our shield Dark Sun to do countermagic like a Warden sword.
Or just a new line of rechargeable sunlight lava lamps, excellent for fighting Reds and Blacks.
Just leave it out in sunlight to recharge.

@DragonParadox
QUESTION
Can we make Warden swords?
Ever since Luccio got bodyjumped last October, new Wardens havent been getting Warden swords since she was the only maker. See Dresden, and every recruit after him. If we want to make a little nudge in the Vampire War, thats one way.

I mean, the lowrisk high payoff way is just to buy Allies 2 and use Hollow Mind Possession to set up our hacker's collective to start in on the Reds realworld assets that are accessible in cyberspace.
Whats the fun in that though?

While the sword will protect its bearer from magic like that and in certain edge cases like trying to take on the Red King it will also aid their allies, it cannot do things like aid children push out possessing spirits. Protecting the innocent from evil is the task of the knight not of the sword alone, it is the choice of the bearer given freely that grants the sword the ability to intervene like that, so in this instance Michael charging into battle. I thought I would make this clear now since you will continue to fight alongside Michael and he does understand this particular limitation IC, he is not a taxi service to get the sword in the presence of evil, he is its bearer with all the risks that comes with.
Mmm, as I understand it, all the sword actually does on its own is remove the ability of supernatural powers to just no-sell mortals, whether by superhuman might or influence. So if left to him to do it, it'd probably be mean pinning her and conducting an exorcism, but the specter can't do things like "I'm intangible and I hide in the walls, you can't hit me, just pray at me".

The big deal portion is that it doesn't give a shit what you're facing, it brings the match to Possible, as long as you're using it in good faith. The downside being that, as it is his choice to get stuck in rather than being Called to it, he accepts the risks and consequences.

Well, granted, as he can wield Faith magic, and the Sword is still a helluva powerful focus to work through.

also comes with its own limitations like the downsides of freewill and bad decisions being disastrous in certain circumstances. I wonder if any knight of the cross has accidently wielded a sword and while flighty hit an innocent on instinct in a tense battle. Blades have been reforged before no idea when the last time it happened though its pretty cool though. You actually have to listen if someone says their innocent cause in some chance they really could be so ambushes are not always sound with them. Always need to wield them with their specific virtue in mind (not quite literally) or risk bad things happening.

Hellscry Chakra is good, but the second dot of Qiao of the Yu An (Jade Harmony) is better. Does basically everything Hellscry Chakra does, but better. Make enough successes on the activation roll, and you have a magical lie detector, and can tell if someone is possessed or under any form of mind control while it's active. Get 5+ successes and you can even tell some stuff about who put them under mind control. Upgrade that to a CMA, and it has basically all we could want to know about everyone we can see while it's active.

Of course, that's a lot more effort than getting a two-dot Charm from our native set, since Yu An has to wait in line behind all of the other Qiao we're going to train in first, but long-term it's a power set I'm really interested in. Gives us supernatural senses to pry into a lot of secrets for relatively cheap cost.
