Interest and disinterest of our MC are likely going to play a key role on how well he does in his studies. For that reason, i think we should definitely take one Psyker subject. It's something he enjoys and we shouldn't take that from him.

Telepathy would also have synergy with Governance and Naval Combat both i suspect. So it's useful though Divination is also a good choice. But i decided to go for Telepathy and Governance both because it likely has good potential with our MC being Charisma focused lad.

I think a plan with Naval Combat, Personal Combat and Divination/Telepathy can also be very good. All three would be things the MC enjoys doing while also useful to deal with the problems inflicting the polity we are on. Let's not forget we have three enemies-- The Greenskins, Warp Rift and Imperialists.

Something to keep in mind is that Drake is still a Primarch. Even if we don't focus on something he isn't going to be bad at it.

The is plan mostly has a few things in mind. Mainly being atypical for a Primarch in the social sphere and playing on Drake's interests in terms of abilies. From the update we've seen that he like Naval Combat, Psyker stuff and engineering. So I feel its only natural to to follow up on that, especially since its a combination that is somewhat unique when you look at the other Primarchs. The overall setup of the story, being raised on a Confederate Holdout with a strong naval traditions by a loving family wants me to play further on those ideas of the more "enlightened" times from before the Age of Strife". What would be "mundane" in any other story has the chance to be quite special in 40K. In a more general sense a healthy relationship, a career in the Navy while staying away from governance (letting the people decide on their own path rather than effectively becoming president dictator or something due to superhuman abilities, though getting elected and then stepping down due to term limits would also be acceptalbe) and a pre-fall attitude towards society in general are my aims here.

Long term an autonomous liberal republic akin to Ultramar but under civilian rule is something I'm hoping for.

Honestly, i mostly want Governance because the MC is going to have to conquer lots of planets and knowing how to set up sustainable democratic governments on them is going to require knowledge about this shit.

We can't rely on anyone else to do this stuff of setting up a Multi-Sector republican mini-state inside the Imperium. But by learning how exactly the republican system on our homeworld works, we can copy it and modify it to suit local conditions.
