Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

/
The Society here is probably referring to the Thule Society, who were a bunch of Nazi occultists.
No idea who Lictor is supposed to be. Or why he thinks we're with him.
Are we SURE the monks here are on the up and up?

Maybe we can get away with just ripping off a sleeve to show the armor underneath....

-[X] Stunt: You stretch as you begin to rise, and that proves too much for the seams of your abused dress, which split, exposing the gleam of mail underneath. Shrugging mentally you move your chair towards the waking lycanthrope and sit down. "You know, my mother is going to be really unhappy that you ruined my dress. Which makes me unhappy." He begins to sneer at you, then blanches as you begin to carve patterns into the surface of your chair. Barehanded. "I have questions about that. You really, really want to make me happy by answering them." You give him your second best smile. He does not appear to be reassured.
in fairness they could have been enemies for a while also you know did we even correct them cause that seems molly should correct them on? Cause being mistaken for possible nazis for a joke from molly seems something she'd want to correct.

You need to show most of the armor to get its intimidation effect, the spooky thing about it are the winding patterns that seem to move as if alive and you cannot get that with just a bit of it exposed.

People in the supernatural community have been pretty well conditioned by the fey to be wary of very polite people who casually display supernatural abilities. Let's take advantage of that.

[X] Threaten them (Strength+Intimidation)

And yet asking about all the members of the black council while we look at Cowl was listed as an example of what we could do.
My intuition is that that works partly as a question about Cowl and his knowledge/relations, since he hangs out with the rest of the Black Council, and the Black Council is more of a thing in its own right. I'm guessing these bones don't have as much connection to other sets of bones.

But I guess we should try it and find out, and the monk bones are a decent opportunity to test how the Crown of Eyes works in practice.

[X] Ask Brother Divsimar for a picture and name of one of the saints whose bones he is searching for, then use the Crown of Eyes to ask for the location of the bones of that saint.

('saints' may not be the exact word, but I think the intent is clear.)

Okay, let me edit it so that it's the top that splits and falls around her waist.
I'll assume she's wearing a belted dress.

It would work fine, but are you sure you want to reveal your intelectus, the thing Harry asked you to tell no one about to someone you met a few hours ago?

Should we use an Excellency?

Not sure its necessary.
Str + Intimidation 8 + Ebonscales Mail Bonus 1 + Stunt 1 is a dice pool of 10.
Thats basically mortal max under current mechanics, and I think we'd expect to average around 6 successes against DC6.

Save the Excellency for if/when Marcone shows up.
Dude's a Heroic Mortal equivalent, I think, and he has a Valkyrie of Odin in his personal security detail.

We have a -1 from having four HLs ticked in, which isn't shown on the char sheet.

You take 1 Wound (-1 to all rolls)
Does this change the calculus?

Edit: I am fine with not using it, just saying.

hes definitely worthy of heroic mortal given the amount of times he faced death in the face and not cowered also literal gods. Risked his life for some kid once (not the coma patient) and has more than once played mind games with the best of them in the series and swims fairly well in the supernatural community without having any actual powers. Also is rich and has a lot of connections.

Not sure.

9 dice pool will still average 5 successes I think.
Exalted normally considers 5 or more successes to be Legendary Success territory, but I am not sure what it is in this sytem.
And ultimately, this is a mook. There'd be a stronger argument for an Excellency if we were interrogating his boss the warlock.

honestly I don't think I could write a successful intimidation, I say successful as in one people would vote for, mostly because mine would be along the lines of:
The room is eerily silent, only the droplets of water and the clacks of boots can be heard as Molly circles, predates like a devil tiger, not hungry but gleeful for the suffering to come. She stops and sits, the wooden chair creaks, alike to protesting bones.
"So" says She calmly, quietly, the shadows seeming to lengthen as She stares into their eyes "you heal fast. Tell me, can you regrow limbs?"
"It doesn't matter if you can or not, only that it will enhance your suffering" She smiles with her whole face, a twisted glee painted in the world, no teeth shown but an ancient dragon's smile nonetheless.
"Here is how it's going to go, every time you lie, you lose a finger, when you run out of fingers, I'll move onto your toes and when you run out of toes, then the ribs and so on and so forth, until you either tell me what I want to know or you're an empty pile of skin worthy of a Red Court Elder" She falls silent once more.
The prisoners are shaking and though they sweat and gasp, they cannot even hear their own breaths, all noise smothered by the ancient Shadow of an Ebon Dragon, so thick and cloying, that even a certain denarian cannot perceive the events taking place and the only light visible is that of an ancient Green Sun, burning on the brow of a Prince. They speak only truths and the Shadow recedes, they cough and cry and almost puke in gladness of the Shadow's leave taken.

I have no words for what I just wrote, I had an idea and the words came after and surprising even to myself is the fact that no violence occurred wtf, I was planning to actually write in molly actually doing that shit but this is so much better. I'm astonished.

I had figured asking for a picture and name would make it look like a divination focus rather than Intellectus. *shrug* Oh well, later.
People keep throwing around this and that thaumaturgical connection based concern or plan, but it isn't really that easy to do.

Dresden is a full wizard and good at this sort of investigative magic, and he still mostly needs a more direct connection than a picture in most cases. Usually something that was part of the whole, or special cases like the use of true names.

It's also worth noting that Dresden file divinations of the type we actually see anyone perform are more like magical spy tools than anything more esoteric, and have range limits because they actually have to move power around in a way that's at least partially effected by distance instead of treating divination like they're searching for things on magic google as some dnd spells do.

Taking a picture and a casual name then converting it into a high range high precision tracking ritual for something you didn't know existed twenty minutes ago is blatant bullshit by the standards of wizards. Who are themselves bullshit by the standards of everyone in the room other than Molly and Micheal.

For scale Dresden's idea of a field divination is wrapping a hair from the target around needle that he then uses to make a crude compass using a cup of water and driving around the city until he gets close enough for it to point in the right direction.

He has a decent range because he's good at this, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't infinite.

there are those better than dresden as he explicitly notes hes a hammer as far as magical talent goes and also is inexperienced as far as wizards go he says his power is somewhere like top 30 or so in the world. But, he could probably end up top 5 or even number 2 never 1 though that might just be humility on dresdens part in a couple centuries when hes had time to grow hes grown a lot since book 1 imagine if he survived to 200. But, yeah most divination requires stuff like body parts and if blood dries or hairs isn't as fresh that shits not anywhere near as useful as it being fresh as well. Also most divination is kind of shit. Note there are probably you know those way way way better at this like the gatekeeper or merlin though merlin as far as what feats we saw the old one was doing godly acts seeing as that prison is a feat of basically infinite layers of time magic on each stone meaning basically infinite runes through time bullshit and traps demigod wendigo bullshit on its lowest layer. That shit has stuff in it that might genuinely be scarier than full power mab on the deeper layers.

IIRC, Harry's specialty, the area of magic he acknowledges as his best and most practiced skill, is Thaumaturgy. In DF, Thaumaturgy is the kind of sympathetic magic that deals with finding people or things based on blood, hair, pieces of the object, etc, or targeting them with long range effects. He's obviously not the best at this, but he is one of the best, despite his relative youth compared to most powerhouse wizards.

It's worth pointing out that we're rolling into this situation on team "mysterious ways" so I'm giving pretty good odds that capturing these guys and getting information from them was part of the POINT of this exercise.

Along with half a dozen other objectives including getting a read on Exalted Molly

I'd like to note as benevolent as they are they really do care about free will if we theoretically destroyed the world I'm not even sure they'd be allowed to stop us. The angels that is. They'd care though maybe it counts as giving just enough like demon play let uriel say a few words.

For the bones, I definitly want to wait until the werewolves and Marcone's men are out of the area, but I have no issue helping the monks.
Again, they'll leave for the other side of the world and we won't explain how we got informations about the bones to them, so I think the risk is low.
