Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

I have been thinking.

We can stack not just the Demon aspect to double movespeed and Wind-Borne Stride.

If we repurchase By Rage Recast again, se can also add flight. And the movement speed increases just mention movement not that we need to run.

How fast would we be? Sounds pretty useful for getting into melee range and travel.

A turn in combat is 3 seconds typically and my speed calcs use this assumption

Molly's Current Jogging Speed: 16 yards per turn(Translates into 4.8788 meters/second)
Molly's Current Running Speed(Takes a full action assuming I understand correctly): 32 yards per turn(Translates to roughly 9.75 meters/second)

With Swift Stride Active:

Jogging: 9.75 Meters/second
Running: 19.5 Meters/second(Superhuman, Slightly over racehorse level speed)

With Wind-Borne Stride on top of that(Just counting the 3x Movement speed):

Jogging: 29.25 Meters/Second(Car on a Freeway)
Running: 58.5 Meters/Second

Swift Stride+Wind-Borne Stride after having reached dectuple movement speed:

Jogging: 97.576 Meters/Second
Running: 195 Meters/Second

Applying Devil Beast Shintai On top of that:

Jogging: 195.152 Meters/Second
Running: 390 Meters/Second(Mach 1.137)

Swift Stride+Wind-Borne Stride after having reached dectuple movement speed:

Jogging: 97.576 Meters/Second
Running: 195 Meters/Second
This actually dunks on Cirrus Skiff. The spell only goes at 200 km/h compared to this around 700 km/h.

Edit: Yeah I kind of want E2 even more now, then get this too.

Our strategic mobility would multiply too, and could become important if we move against the Red Court.

Harry: "The Ways are dangerous, but they allow us to travel great distances in a very short period of time."

Molly <adjusting her goggles and making sure her shoes are tightly laced>: "I don't need no stinkin' Ways!"

WHOOSH!
Sadly we most likely won't take Devil Beast Shintai. Even if the others didnt have better stats and themes for us, devil beast doesn't have hands. So we couldnt use our sword or maybe melee at all.

We'll have to be satisfied with a measly 195 m/s, how sad...

Its pretty funny though, yes.

Wasn't the non-combat speed of Wind-Born Stride even faster?

I'm on the phone right now and can't check, but I think we could go even faster for travel times.

Wind Borne Stride starts at triple movement speed. We can pay 1 essence to go at 10x movement speed for our essence in turns in battle.

Outside of battle we can reach 10x movement speed by running for 7 minutes

4x: 1 Minute
5x: 2 Minutes
6x: 3 Minutes
7x: 4 Minutes
8x: 5 Minutes
9x: 6 Minutes
10x: 7 Minutes

I mean that is just for her though, unless she carries him.

Molly: You know I am starting to like this idea :V

It's almost too bad we're not enough of a wizard to initiate a soul gaze; it'd certainly help us get on the same page with Charity.

It'd also almost certainly kick off a whole new set of issues, but at least she wouldn't be so worried about how we'll survive. :V

-[X] You agree to the first parts, you will do your best in school and you will listen to dad, but you can't promise not to go into trouble if it shows itself, or to avoid all places where it might find you. The craving for knowledge is part of you on the one hand and the desire to act when you see wrongs being commited is all on your parent's education on the other hand.
    [X] Agree to her condition
[x]Sure, but I want to come back to the subject of risk management later, once we've slept a bit or something.
-[x] Crown of Eyes: What would be the most effective way to help Charity understand how powerful I am?
[X] Argue (Charisma+Empathy; may use Excellency; Stunt Optional)
-[X]Stunt: I promise to be careful when possible, to listen to Dad, and to work on my grades. But trouble will not always schedule itself for my convenience or his, and I have the strong feeling that I must learn as much as I can as fast as I can to be prepared when it does show up. Other people need Daddy too; he wont always be around. You didnt wait for Daddy to come back before you came for me, did you?

Arc 1 Post 6: On the Brink
On the Brink

7th of July 2006 A.D.

Like usual with mom most of what she says makes perfect sense. Keep your grades up, sure you might need them as camouflage if nothing else. If you want a job and a life in the ordinary world you are going to need a school record and 'high school screw up' will not look good on that no matter what else you can do. Listen to dad... well duh he knows more than you do about spooky stuff and your only other alternative for advice is the demon in your head. Good advice no doubt, but you are not sure it would be good for doing good things. But the other stuff...

Spent 1 Essence

"I'm not going to actively look for trouble," you temporize. You can already see her eyes narrow before you even get to the 'but'. When you had been younger now was about the time when you would just swallow the word and just go along with whatever mom thought was right. I am not a little girl anymore. "But I'm also not going to sit tight if I see something rotten going on. I'm going to learn what I can from Dad, I'll strive to be better, and I'll do everything I can to be as safe as possible if I do have to take any risks, but I can't promise I'll never take any. I don't think the world works that way."

"Margaret Katherine Amanda Carpenter," she enunciates dangerously. Sometimes you think she just gave you this many manes so she could do that. "I didn't ask you how the world works. I can judge that for myself. I lived in it twice as long as you. I asked if you understood the rules you should follow. You are not a superhero out of your brother's comic books and you certainly aren't a Knight of the Cross..."

That hurts, a part of you knows it's because she is hurting too because she is worried, but right now what you hear loud and clear among all the things that you are not is the thing you are, a villain, a monster. Fine then that is what you'll show her! "A part of me is a lot older than seventeen, a lot older than you, older maybe than all the history of man!"

A baleful marks sputters on your brow only to be put out by a flexing of your will. You don't want to scare your mother... you just want her to understand.

But she has dug in her heels, you can read that clear as day on her face, it was her way or the highway. "You won't be going off and looking for trouble when your dad's not home and since I can't trust you to do that you are grounded starting now."

You had chosen 'highway' once before and even if there was no Nelson this time you knew some people with their own apartments. It wouldn't be that hard to get some money to pay them. "Grounded? Because that worked so well..."

"Molly," your dad snaps, but that is not what stops you, even if it's so uncommon for him to raise his voice. It's the look in his eye. He had just come home and you were arguing again, but you weren't arguing over nothing. This... this is your life and what you can do with it.

"Charity, you cannot ask someone to do nothing in the face of evil if they have the power to do so, you are doing her a disfavor and yourself," he says, sure of his words even as he is worried about how she would take it.

"You weren't there." Your mom's hand tightens into a fist around the tablecloth as though she is trying to instinctively grab on to something. "You didn't see her on that tree."

"I saw her fight, I heard the reason she did it," dad replies, all true, but sometimes the truth isn't enough to make things right.

"Mom," you say softly, struggling against all the cutting words that that come so easily to mind. "You are right, I am not a superhero, but I might be one of those things that superheroes were inspired by. The heroes of the really old days, when 'hero' just meant great and not good. Theseus and Jason, Ariadne and Medea, Orpehus and Ishtar. This power I took willingly and with my eyes open won't let me hide away and the people and the things out there, the ones who know they aren't just going to let me be and only show up when dad is with me to make everything safer. If I am the kind of person to look at someone getting hurt, getting killed where I can stop them and turn away then I am not good, but this..." you point to the lambent flame on your forehead. "Is still going to make me great. I don't want to be that."

"And I don't want to bury you even if you were to die a hero," she answers, furiously blinking away tears. "You don't know what's out there and by the time you find out, really find out it will be too late because every twisted thing out there, man or demon or in between is going to want you dead or worse. I'm not asking you to hide in the safe room and never come out. I'm asking you to please be careful of yourself."

What do you do?

[] Agree after all

[] You can't... you just can't... leave.

OOC: Well I was not expecting Charity to outright win social combat here, but such were the rolls. The win condition was for you and Michael do get five successes on her total before she did the same.

Wow. Looks like taking some time to learn context from dad (and craft gear, maybe?) might be how to go forward with what she wants Molly to do.

Imo, Charity ain't wrong here.

She's not and neither are Molly and Michael, to have the power of an Infernal Exalted and not act when you see evil done leaves a mark, it means something in your personal story. That is what makes this so hard.

Molly locked up at home is much less of an interesting story IMO, and for that reason I'm probably going to be picking

[] You can't... you just can't... leave

We're an Exalt, finding accommodation won't be hard.

Hmm....

[X] You can't... you just can't... leave.

Well, it has been said to seek an interesting story. And I am interested in where this goes. No higher reason really.

Undoing, as well as slaying, evil and making a mark on the world.

Flowering freely instead of being cultivated at the price of lessening, and it is a lessening that she would accept.

Edit: We can try staying in the church, winning the lottery for seed money as discussed, looking at buying a Charm to make living easier, traveling or staying. Interesting.

It's not locked at home, it's 'only doing supernatural things with Michael's oversight' and grounded the rest of the time.
That kinda is locked up at home lol

Although, important clarification - we're almost 18. Would this only last until we're an adult or is it a 'my roof my rules' kinda thing?

Edit: Because if this is just a four month long training arc with Michael it feels kinda different. More of a forced tutorial than a permanent issue.

Honestly, I figure to agree, this is not a Fae deal, we agreed and after the idiots inevitably appeared in front of us maybe Charity realized that while what she wants is totally logical to a mother her daughter is way too much like her and if continue to clamp down on her she will just leave the house.

Or, of course, we can just use the crown to know a monster's hideout in more or less condition, kill it, fix the place, live there, keep going to school and go home just to get training with Michael.( I really don't want to do that as for me it's the short term social nuclear option for our family)

I mean it's grounded not actual jail you might be able to talk her out of it in a week or two.

For that matter you could just agree with it and sneak out.
Hmmm

Let me see.

Larceny and Stealth 0. I am not sure about this.

Edit: Also, if someone is accepting with the intent to disobey and stealth out, that should be indicated imo. Different reaction and may even need Subterfuge.
