Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

I may change this depending. How many Freebies we got left, none right now?

None, this is a bonus since doing anything to Slate will obviously enrage Mab, it seemed only fair for you to get something for killing him mechanically to make the choices even that way.

[X] As much as you hate to leave anyone like this, listen to Harry and run

Harry has to put up with those people, we'll recall. That flaw was left out of the character creation plan for a reason, surely.

Just as a note Harry is not thinking of himself when he is advising Molly not to call down he wrath of Mab on her head. From what Molly understands the fey the burden of guilt, of debt would fall mostly on her in their eyes.

Ehhh, three points or a Winter Knight is not a good enough reason imo. Since he's "just" a mundane human with the Mantle.

Only +3 Freebies for the price of having an entire Fae Court wishing for our demise sounds like a bad idea.

As a note there is a lot of power in the Mantle, a lot more than Slate uses even at his best. You could instruct him, or even warp it to your use with the right ancient sorcery.

From what little I know of Dresden Files, this is in character for Molly. Impulsive decisions that have negative, long term consequences. And really, I just want her to say fuck it and kill someone today.

-[x] Free him (If he survives gain ally Loyd Slate; the Rogue Winter Knight ●●●)

Access to a mantle to play with sounds like a fun time.

This is a very bad idea. The Winter Court is important, powerful, and actually does several important things for the stability of reality.

Even if we were going to be capable of knocking over their sandcastle anytime soon, which we aren't by the way, doing so would be a huge mess.

Making them a four dot enemy from the first day of our exaltation for the sake of Mab's washed up rapist hit man is not worth it.

Yeah, Enemy in WoD and Enemy in Exalted are two different things.

Enemy in Exalted are beings you have crossed with, who wants your hide and would never stop anything from them taking your life (and no, not even killing them solves the issue, they are unkilable until you buy off the EXP point appropriate to the amount of Enemy dots you have). But the good news is that you are so powerful that they might not even matter at all compared to you.

Enemy in WoD however is a different breed. These beings can't just be killed and be done with. If you kill them, the organization that they are a part of will avenge them and if you kill those organization, another bigger one will retaliate by spending a considerable amount of resources to try and kill you off.

And Exalts aren't as powerful here as they are in the Age of Legends. They are new, wheras these enemies you have made are old and have made their roots on the playing board. If they can't attack you, they'll attack your family, then your friends until you try and mend relations with them.

Killing people off isn't the way WoD does things, and I am sure that it isn't here as well (kill off someone as important as a Mantle bearer, and there will be consequences upon the world).

Which is why most WoD players tend to not have Enemy more than 2. Because it is still salvageable then. If not, you are at risk of angering an entire faction that is older than you and more experienced than you.

@BronzeTongue have you settled on which Key ability we should shirk off? Because it is currently 9 whereas it should've been 8.

Hmmm. Freebies or allies... Hmm

Im fine with either. The winter mantle does come with... urges however. So without giving him the ability to ignore them hes probably going to cause trouble.

For the ten minutes we get to keep it maybe. She would send hit men for it and keep sending them until it worked. She's not an anime villain, so Mab wouldn't bother with slowly feeding us exp with weaker guys either.

Losing a mantle would weaken winter relative to summer, which among other things actually shifts around global climate to reflect fey politics.

She can't stop trying to get it back, and she can't not punish us in retaliation for publicly embarrassing her even if she wanted to.

It should be said though, no matter the fallen and ragged state of the world Molly is Exalted, one of the Green Sun Princes, it is not above her ability to deal with the enmity of the Winter Court. The real question is not can I but should I? The strategy of throwing Molotov and riding a motorcycle with wheels of green fire though the middle of complex diplomacy and centuries old feuds is risky but entirely doable for you.

For an older exalted maybe, I'm not sure how a murderous enmity from an organization we can't really defeat for a long while yet but can send hit squads of over leveled sidhe assassins after us whenever they like is supposed to be survivable.

Especially if we steal the knight and make it a serious problem for them too.

There is a charm for that:

Mercy in Servitude (•)
The suffering of Hell is eternal, and as such, the Infernal preserves her flawed and decaying servants, that they might further serve her will.
System: Whenever a bakemono – a sort of cursed mutant that werewolves know as fomori – acts to carry out the Infernal's will, the various torments of its mutant state are held in abeyance. If its acidic powers normally rot its body from the inside-out, they cease to do so while it slaves on her behalf. If the spiritual corruption festering in its flesh is killing it with a variety of aggressive cancers, they go into remission. If the use of one of its powers normally causes it great damage and pain, it no longer does so. Even derangements of the mind inflicted by the creature's fallen state are temporarily set aside while it does the Infernal's bidding.

It will probably not work perfectly since he isn't a foot soldier in the armies of Winter, he is more like a captain.... but there is also a spell for binding dark spirits. Between the two of those you can shackle the mantle's power over its bearer. At which point Old Loyd would have to do some serious soul searching.
