Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

And then sleep it off over a few days. :V
Ahem
Charred Sinner Renewal (•)
The Infernal's strength surges as though she were at the spiritual center of the cosmos so long as she rests within befouled or deadly liquid.
System: So long as the Infernal remains fully submerged in tainted or deadly liquid, she replenishes her Essence as though she were resting in a Dragon Nest and heals all bashing damage or one level of lethal damage every fifteen minutes. Examples of valid liquids might include raw sewage, the waters around the runoff pipes of Pentex chemical refineries, or a bathtub filled with bleach.
Signature Effect: When the Infernal dons her Shintai form, it comes into the world accompanied by a hissing downpour of acid rain. Anyone caught in the storm without sufficient protection (such as a heavy-weather gear or some form of protective magic) suffers one level of bashing damage per minute, alongside a –2 penalty to all rolls.
Just saying, there is an option that allows us to submerge in bleach.
No, your nature is not your urge, it is what makes you Molly Carpenter, not what makes you a Magic Nerd Demon Prince. The reason I did not just pencil that in is because you are a teenager and so it's not that settled. I think I'll have it nailed down by the end of act 1
Indeed, Urge and Nature need not be the same thing. Also, I am of the mind to just leave that to you (seeing as I barely have any grasp on Molly's personality).

Arc 0 Post 5: Facing Fear
Facing Fear

The moment shatters like a mirror black as you breathe in for the first time since the power had come to you, you breathe in the dark for it holds no terrors for you anymore and the killing cold of Arctis Tor and you make it yours. The pain in your arms and legs is hardly a twinge, the thorns are slick with blood and so, almost without thinking, you slip off them and land lightly on the balls of your feet. A weapon I need a weapon, you think, looking around for some jagged shard of ice.

"Here mistress," you hear Usum's voice in your mind and without needing to ask more you reach out with your right hand to your chest, where the chill is strongest.

Out of your heart, or perhaps the place behind your heart you you pull out a blade of gleaming bronze. In it not one of the arming swords you had trained with a little when you were younger, but a hand and a half sword that is somewhere between a katana and a scimitar, its guard sharpened on one side to a wicked point and on the other coming to a sharpened hook that should by rights take off your fingers if you try to use it as a guard. But this sword will never cut you, you know, it cannot, it is a part of you... a part of your soul maybe. The pummel flares to light, a great eye wreathed in heaatless green flame.

"How fascinating, I've never been a sword... at least I don't remember ever being one," you hear Usum, but its voice is faint and far away.

You're already running at the Scarecrow, the Fetch, as it raises its misshapen pumpkin head at you, eyes burning with false flame. That's all the opening Harry needs as he raises his hand and blasts it in the chest with a burst of soundless force. Only a step, but... that is more than you need.

Carving into the thing's left arm where its elbow should be you use the whipping of its arm to swing around and under its right claw then hook it with your guard and snap off some of its vine fingers.

"What have you done?" It sounds afraid. You enjoy that perhaps a little more than you aught, but you will feel guilty about that later.

Still, the thing is fast and dreadfully old, all the stronger here in the place of its power. It's not that you don't see the kick, but that it had turned you around in a twisted parody of a dance until the only way you could get out of the way would be right into Harry. and you do not want to risk hurting him by canon-balling right into him as he's trying to find his feet, especially not burning with the power of... Power, you do not know what else to call it.

Getting kicked in the stomach hurts, but you are reasonably sure it should have hurt a lot more, like ruptured organs more, not like a middling soccer injury.

You hit the thing again, this time in the chest, but you notice its wounds are starting to heal. "I could pin you to the fucking wall," A cut to the right shoulder "I could make you scream until you don't have a voice anymore." A stab trough where its stomach aught to be. "But I'm not going to do that because I am better than you." The final stab goes right through its right eye and then explodes with the dreadful green fire of creation and annihilation, the flash of a malignant star in Winter's heart.

1 Essence Used

You hope, you pray to God, if He is even listening to whatever you have become, that you are not lying.

"Hell's bells..." For the first time since you told him you knew about 'fun handcuffs' three years ago Harry Dresden looks at a loss for words. If you were anywhere else it would be kind of funny.

What do you say?

OOC: Molly did not actually take damage, she soaked that because she is an exalt and can just soak lethal damage the same way mortals can soak bashing. She only spent one essence on the nimbus because she got enough hits with the first attack to not really need it and she has a an innate sense that her bullshit comes with a finite tank of gas. It helps that she was getting as much of a bonus from the cold as the Eldest Fetch was.

Nice job, Molly.

@DragonParadox, seeing as we're in the Heart of Winter, does Without Honor allows us to have a +2 Bonus to all rolls for the current duration? And if so, to what extent does it reach until it stops giving us +2 Bonus dice?

As long as you are in Mab's palace or garden you get it, once you are out it depends on what part of her domain you come into, many parts of it are a snowy wilderness but not all. Some are more abstract in theme

Right, Cracked Shell Circumvention allows us to reduce the difficulty of all escaping action by 3 and Without Honor, Without Hope gives us an additional +2 Bonus Dice as long as we're in Mab's palace.

Are there any portals out of this place? I read that Harry and Charity were teleported to this place by an outside factor, how can we reach said teleportation gateway?

Edit: Basically, I need context from those that have read Dresden Files. What are the things here that can get us out of here.

Harry can open a portal out of the nevernever whenever but the location on the other side is analogous to the location in the nevernever. IE given we are in the heart of winter we at best would come out in in the middle of one of the poles, that is at best.

Nevernever... we are within this verse's equivalent of the Spirit World, huh?

Hmm, choices. Choices.... how did Harry and co escape this place OTL?

Ah poor Dresden, comes charging with the family to rescue Molly from the fetches and now both he and they has this new situation to deal with along with addressing the problem of Molly using mental black magic on her friends to cure them of their addiction before also dealing with the white council situation.

We can use our eye to find the way out of this situation for us and our kin. Then use cracked cell to escape right?

Good news: the Exaltation had solved the issue of the Black Magic addiction since that was a supernatural contamination on its Chosen which is Not Allowed (tm).

Of course the only source for that good news is Molly's instinctive understanding of what her new Power does and all the occult knowledge said power dumped into her brain. I'm sure Dresden will trust it right? :V

So how did they get here in the first place? Did they "jump" (I can't think of a better word) from the arctic to here?

In the Nevernever there are Paths you can take to swiftly get around.
Once we get a bit away from Mab's domain we should find a way somewhere else, though propably not unguarded.
Nice, that will our starting point.

Good idea.

@DragonParadox are we safe now? Are there any enemies that are coming in our way unless we're moving right out of dodge, now?

Well then the first part is good news and does beg the question of if Molly is still able to do magic as before the exaltation such as setting up a veil for example. If so how would that work in this quest?

As for the second part, Well only we can do now is wing it and hope Dresden would for now at least hopefully agreeable to get out now or get only a short explanation and not react violently because of the frightening changes that has happened.

Also oh nuts, did we just do what Harry did with the Summer Flames hitting Winter's fountain but worse?! :o

Nevernever rules work based on association; two areas right next to each other on the spirit side can be miles apart on the mortal one.

I forget some of the details here, but I think they found a place that was associated with winter enough to get close and then hoofed it the rest of the way. Or just used a sequence of transitions from one side to the other to get into position to do the same.

Right now they can't just punch out though. Major powers can restrict and ward areas they control to stop that from happening(with some caveats). To hit the mortal world I believe we need to get out of the front gate first. Or overpower the protections here.

As a side note, this place is a big deal. The only reason this played out the way it did is that Harry got a cheat from the Summer Court to help, a major Denarian hit had just gone off which killed the local security forces, and some arguably implied permission from Mab in that she knows what's happening and chose not to simply kill everyone involved for showing up uninvited. Mostly because she had a scheme cooking involving Harry.

Continuing to fuck around here is asking to find out way before we're jacked enough to deal with it. The Fetch is dead, we should book it for the door and leave through the Way Harry arrived from.

Dresden is unlikely to react violently, not only are you Michael's daughter, but you are of the female persuasion and he is still in the phase of bending over backwards for every woman in trouble... even when he knows it is a bad idea.

Do you reckon that the Path is still open ajar?

Also, pre-preliminary planning time.

[] Use Cha + Empathy to calm Dresden down if we still have time and explain to him that we are still the molly that he remembers. Spend 1 Essence to use Key to the Kingdom: Empathy if needs be.
-[] Spend another 1 Essence and ask the Crown of Eyes for the direction of any "Paths" that will bring us to the real world the fastest whilst also being safe at the same time.
-[] 4 Dots of Strength means that we can carry up to 400 lbs or 200 kgs, use that strength to carry our unconscious mother
-[] Book it as fast as we can to said Path.

This is very barebones, but I'm sure it gets the point across.

Edit: Also, since it is 4:00 AM in the morning for me, I'll try and have a wink of sleep and let you guys plan. I'll try and throw my two cents in when I wake up.

True, so long he believes we are Molly, it is very unlikely for any reaction of violence to occur. Do think he is likely to be extremely cautious and slightly paranoid about precisely happened though for Molly's safety such as possibility of being possessed or something since the changes which occurred are very drastic though. Mainly because we had just done something ridiculous out of our expected scale of abilities.

Why do you think hes evil?
Well for one you can say not all demons as much as you want, this particular one was picked as an exemplar of hell by one of a few different asshole primordial titans. He probably didn't get that position collecting stamps.

But point taken, we can't talk specifics about his personality yet since he hasn't done much. Evil vizier wasn't the best way to describe what I meant.

Solars never needed anything like essence!clippy to use their abilities; the demonic guide isn't really necessary and the primordials aren't the type to go out of their way for the sake of curtesy.

It seems to me that the guides are supposed to be a hook into demonic politics and an implicitly trusted source of information biased in their favor. The point being to manipulate the exalt into sticking with their camp without triggering charms or active resistance.

I'm not going to advocate for pointless paranoia, but being dependent on us isn't the same as taking our every interest as his own. Or for that matter having the same perspective on what our interests actually are.

Hence the evil vizier comparison; he can't take the throne, but influencing "royal" policy to suit him is impossible to divorce from doing his actual job.

It's something to keep an eye out for now that we have him.

Ways in this context are more like charted routes than anything else. Things to the effect of "go to the third hill and open a portal under the dead oak tree, on the other side run past the swarms of dog sized spiders until you hit the lake, then portal to the mortal side. Walk to greyhound station and take bus to next portal point" and so on until you hit the destination.

They aren't always static, but most of the ones typically referred to as Ways in the first place are consistent enough that you probably won't have them change during a round trip.
