The Path Unending (A Cultivation Quest)

For everyone worried about Time winning the vote, the breathing technique is a safe option but getting a grade 2 tech for 5 talents is way more cost effective. A grade 1 tech costs 30 sect points in the Sect while a grade 2 tech here is less than that.

We have a wonder ready to go for a fire aspected tech and an archer tech is the only one we're missing to finish our advantage technique triangle.

Just imagine Kong Zhi shooting out fireballs from his fists or fire lasers from his sun eye!!

From an economic stand-point, the Breathing Technique Refinement feels more expensive than what I'd expect similar knowledge to cost in the Delving Heart.
Whereas, all the Technique options look far cheaper than what I'd expect from the Delving Heart.

On the other hand, we might never vote to go looking for further Breathing Technique Refinements while at the Heart.

I agree, breathing technique upgrades honestly feel like it's something Zhi could study in DH Archives for free.

Not a lot of good options, imho. And to boot, since I generally dislike getting random techs (even if time for a grade 4 is a tiny bit tempting) that leaves only one solid option.

[X] There are several volumes of primers meant for neophyte Servants. They are supposed to help ground new walkers of the Path, but you can use their insights to further refine your breathing technique. (Cost: 2 Bronze Talents. Benefit: +1 Knowledge (Cultivation). Procs a follow-up vote to select Breathing Technique Refinements

[] You will stick with the general stacks. They may not contain the most earth-shaking information, but great value can still be found in the mundane. (Cost: Free. Benefit: +1 to two different random knowledge skills. Roll 1d20: nat 20 discovers a misfiled technique.)
Pure Nerdage, skill level ups with a small chance of getting a random technique out of it. Put nothing in, probably should not expect anything else back.

This gives us a passive boost for the entire rest of the quest and knowledge of cultivation. It's not sexy but it IS something that will probably help us in the long run.

[] Mockingjay's Archives have no shortage of minor techniques that are tested and true. You will use this opportunity to fill a void in your arsenal. (Cost: 5 Bronze Talents. Benefit: Gain a Grade Two technique. Procs a follow-up vote to select Type and Aspect (Limited to the Basic Eight).)
Ok this gives us a new technique, one we can choose and it is fairly cheap for us. It'd be fairly weak, but even weak techs can help round us out, and we'd get to choose. More expensive surely, but something that bears merit.

[] Of course, you do not have to spend time discovering the hidden knowledge of Mockingjay yourself! They have several Archivists on staff who are here just to help people seek what they need. But they don't work for money. No, they only take other knowledge in trade. (Cost: A record of Blooming Spear of the Auroch. Benefit: Gain a Grade Two technique of a randomly chosen uncommon aspect.)
As above but it is random, which means it is far less useful because if the random technique matches our coore badly or is a technique type that we already have t doesn't help nearly as much.

[] You have more techniques for trade than just your Auroch's Spear, though- some truly rare ones from either your family or your Master. And while they might not be entirely pleased with their knowledge being shared, how much could they truly object to you taking this opportunity to grow? (Cost: A record of Elegant Plume or Stallion's Enclosed Garden, as determined by follow up vote. Benefit: Gain a Grade Three technique. Procs a follow-up vote to select Aspect and Type.)
Stronger technique good. Able to choose aspect and type? Good. Annoying family and/or our boss? Bad. Selling secretes that are not yours quickly means you end up not getting secrets anymore.

[] The Archivists keep the truly rare gems to themselves. For one of those to fall into your hands you will have to show them something that will rock their foundations. (Cost: A record of Shatter the Mirror. Benefit: Gain randomly aspected Grade Four technique.)
Pro: Strong technique for free
Cons: Releases a memetic Cognito hazard into a populated city with shaky Security
Technique is random, and while it is strong it is also high odds we end up with a type duplicate.
Technique is random and could rely on anam we have no way to actually get easily, rendering it useless.
Probably will annoy Siani
In short this is probably not a great idea.

Edit: Also we still have Four techniques we needs to finish integrating, and althoguh we're nearly done with plume we have barely started on our Steel tech, need to finish mirror, and howl seems to have fallen entirely by the wayside.

We can specify the techs too though, and grade 2 techs is what most of Zhi's friends have so it seems to be fairly standard for Soldiers.

Edit.
Remember that Kumi wished she had integrated more techs than 6 before Farrmer. We currently have 6 so we should def. grab one.

Okay...

NGL, really frustrated with the thread right now deciding to bandwagon on not only the most boring of the available options but the one we can get for free back at the sect.

As a reminder, Like mentioned before, a G1 Archer Tech of the Base 8 Costs 30 sect points back home. Not Talents, SECT POINTS. Our best exchange rate for Talents to Sect points was 5 points per talent. Meaning, on our best day, it would cost us 6 Talents to get a G1 tech. So already, the G2 tech is going for 1/2 it 1/4th the price it would be back at home.

Consider this... we know we can raise our Knowledge Cultivation for free by going to the Archives for a study action. I get it, people don't want to waste time... but what is more of a waste, spending money on something we could get for free, just because the option is there, Or losing out on getting a cool new tech just because people didn't want to spend a single action back home?

Think about how long it took us to stockpile up sect points back home. It took months to get more than 20-30 and Most of the time the exchange rate is awful, getting us only 2-3 points per talent.

Now, regarding the other Trade ins... I get the Random Factor scares people.

But consider this, even if we get something we don't really want, there is nothing stopping us from trading the tech in to get one we do want. Say we get a really cool Beast or Sun or Whatever tech, you don't think Nokai wouldn't buy it off of us?

Same for alot of our friends, to say nothing of trading it in to the Archives back home.

I get some people didn't want to be hear and don't want to "waste time" by picking up something we have to invest in like a tech. But consider, we still don't have any techs that improve Wits, or some of our other weaker stats. There is every chance we could grab a Fire, Wind, or Water G2 that is easy to integrate now that our Cycling is so high, that will massively increase our core or HP pool.

The bonuses we got to our breathing tech last time were minor in comparison. We got +1 to our daily regen, going from 2 to 3... Wheres the right stat up could give us another health box, increasing our total health by 8-9 points! Or Give us another Mental Stress box! One Point of Con can massively increase our core! We could even increase our Talents making our skill checks easier

I get the idea that this looks like the easiest pick, but c'mon!!! If we went with the Easiest options, We'd have a Mud Core and would have never gotten Chui Dao!

The Update itself points out that there is stuff in hear that only exists within Mockingjay's walls and for once WE CAN AFFORD IT
14 Talents in our wallet!

Don't give up a Great opportunity just because it isn't the quickest/easiest option I BEG YOU

Not really sure what to go for right now. It is either between the breathing technique upgrade or the Grade Two technique. May have to sleep on it a bit.

Going for a tech i'm certain we can level via our treasures or Heart of stone pills. selling auroch or mirror is random which is not great for us, and while selling SEG or plume might let us choose, it'd also tweak off our family or Siani which is not something i want.

On consideration, I think we should get a Fire Archer tech. 5 Talents is affordable, and an Archer tech will fill out a hole in our arsenal. Further, a more basic technique is probably easier to get insights for to improve, and we could even make it into a Fire/Smoke technique with the right advancements. We also need a WIT technique to improve that stat to improve our core Crafting skill.

I've been convinced. We should definitely look up breathing refinements when we get home though.

This looks like a good bandwagon to throw my hat into. Rest in peace though, Grade 4 tech :'(

Gonna go with this for now.
