The Path Unending (A Cultivation Quest)

[X] Mei Daiyu raises a point: by leaving the body behind, you are not losing anything you have worked for and you will weaken your group. You will leave the Cavern Bringer to rot.

[x] Your companions should go and you will remain here. You will not be able to harvest all of the Cavern Bringer before it loses potency, but you will still get something, and they will be able to watch each other's backs.

Blood for the blood god, mats for the mats throne. A Kong leaving valuable charm ingredients rotting? Unthinkable!

@Vesvius, I have a question. The Cavern Bringer is a pest, right? Then why is Mei so interested in finding its killer? I can understand why Zhuan would, since its a strong opponent, but why Mei?

Guys, I don't think there's going to be any reward for trying to store the giant corpse. There's limits to the size of what we can store in our own ring, and probably that would apply to Zhuan Kun's as well.

More importantly, choices matter. If we all choose to go, then we're not going to get anything from the Mole, but on the other hand we'll have more people on hand to fight whatever killed it. If we choose to leave someone behind, then we get mole parts but have less to fight. If we all choose to stay, then whatever it is probably just gets away. I don't really see much chance that we're going to get around the costs of choosing a path.

What kind of heresy is this? Having your cake and eating it too is the quintessential tenet of SV questing :V

ZK is adorable.

You could find pills, or perhaps locate a Natural Wonder, or… smoke anam has to occur naturally, right? Your cycling technique may not be designed to draw anam when it doesn't come from the strong sources of Treasures or Wonders, but if you could a strong enough source, you could surely harness it

So Zhi should climb into the chimneys of Mockingjay? And so the urban myth of the chimney monster is born.

Not a moment too soon, either. As you stand, you find yourself rising to meet the dawn. Zhuan Kun is tucking away a truly outlandish number of game pieces and scraps of parchment- are those charts?!- while at the same time, Mei Daiyu is tucking a drowsing owlet into a small pouch and tying it to her belt sash. It appears that it's time to start the day's travel.

That is all.

There's a solid chance whatever killed it will also kill a bunch of people, and Mei Daiyu is the kind of person who won't accept that.

Yeah, and personally, the more I think about it the more I'm convinced it's probably a Vestige.

An Artist would have stopped to harvest the materials for use or sale, given the value of such things. A Spirit Beast would have eaten the remains rather than left them to rot because eating anam rich materials is how Spirit Beasts grow. Maybe a plant-type beast wouldn't eat them, but I'd expect one in this area to not be so mobile as Elder Sela. A kukuni could have done this, but there's no apparent reason for it to have, and it doesn't explain the missing farmers - could be one with some weird purpose, but it's still not terribly likely IMO.

A Vestige, though? Well, the lower-end ones are mostly mindless and will attack any prey in front of them to sate their Hunger. I could absolutely see one leaving the corpse of the mole to hunt down a bunch of still living farmers instead, and it's not liable to stop until someone puts it down. Might as well be us, and it probably has more powerful mats than the mole does given that it managed to kill the thing.

-[X] Bring the Cavern Bringer with you in your spatial ring.

If it's a Vestige from one of the Ying Clan and they mainly use wood and earth, the Vestige could have use some kind of root based attack to deal the thousand stabs.

I suppose the clan would be responsible to deal with the spirit beast if no one from the sect shows up.

Given that Mei's master was killed for 'poaching' a beast that was killing mortals on Ying lands and that they were ignoring and the fact that killing this beast was outsourced as a job for the sect I rather doubt the Yings were involved in slaying this beast at all. Seems more likely it's one of the Vestiges that have come about from the sects slacking on testing.
