The Path Unending (A Cultivation Quest)

Mei Daiyu has always had a temper, but you normally have to do more than utter an innocuous question to rouse it.
Methinks someone has a faulty memory.

Zhuan Kun's eyes seem to unfocus and his next words bear the tone of rote repetition. "Because harmony with the Forest of Pearls was deemed far more important than merely gaining space," he states. "By attempting to walk hand in hand with the Forest of Pearls, the Forest's natural anam remained mostly unaffected, leaving all local Natural Wonders undiminished and the Spirit Beasts undisturbed. A more destructive path would have wreaked havoc on the existing landscape and infrastructure."
This is an interesting note about how anam works.

Wait until Honeydrenched Hills and I would even serve as your handmaiden if I must.
:D We can force Mei to pour the tea. :D

It's dark fur is stained and matted with blood from a thousand wounds, but no wound seems more severe than the one on its head. Orange blood drips from a deep gash and puddles beneath its skull
So blood isn't pooling around the other wounds?
Sounds like we got a bloodsucker or six.

Undecided on the vote. While we could do with some loots, whatever killed this is more likely to be more important. But loots are useful.

I'm concerned as to what killed it. It's not Cultuvators, as they'd have harvested it as we want to. It's not another Spirit Beast, as it would be busy eating it. Which leaves a Kukuni or Vestige.

@Vesvius @Cteatus What does the surrounding area look like? Does it look torn up from a fight? I can't imagine something like this wouldn't churn up huge amounts of earth when fighting given its size and nature.
There's a fair amount of torn up earth, yes, but you can't tell what's from violent thrashing and what's just from the Cavern Bringer digging it's way up.

[X] Mei Daiyu raises a point: by leaving the body behind, you are not losing anything you have worked for and you will weaken your group. You will leave the Cavern Bringer to rot.

Whatever killed this big mole likely has better parts. I'm wondering if it's a Vestige, which might explain the lack of people...

Hmmm... there's a thought

We know from the update that killing this mole was an available job right? What if someone tried, died in the attempt, only for their Vestige to end up more... capable?

Vestiges down normal people like popcorn don't they?

-[X] Bring the Cavern Bringer with you in your spatial ring.

Don't split the party. As nice as the materials here are, we're not really in desperate straits.

...what's the storage/size/input limit on our POH Wandering Estate again? I assume there must be a reason we can't just shove the whole corpse in there for later, right?

Also ZK is being super accommodating this update. Wonder why.

Something feels sus. Stick together kthx.

Wasting a corpse would be inefficient...

Would prefer not to just have it rot, but the only way to do that involves KZ not chasing the other thing. Caretaker should be chasing the other thing. (How dare something kill a Mole! Do they not know what the Caretaker's unofficial name is?!)

Chuck it in the port-a-freezer?
Seems like it wasn't killed from something inside it so should keep without bringing qi-xenomorphs into the house right?

We will (probably) have the opportunity to bring down something of a little more worth in this journey.

Tbh its going to take us a good amount of time to use up the mats we have as it is. No need to add even more material tbh. There will be other chances.

-[X] Ask Zhaun Kun if he can store the Cavern Bringer in his storage ring. Perhaps his ring will be able to store the entire body and prevent any meaningful loss of Anam.

[X] Your companions should go and you will remain here. You will not be able to harvest all of the Cavern Bringer before it loses potency, but you will still get something, and they will be able to watch each other's backs.

Its whorthy a shot.

I want to put Kong Zhi back into the 'crazed crafter' hole as much as possible. Let the two fighter builds go fight while we grab cool stuff. Plus we're at half hit boxes; no need to risk getting KOed.

Estate doesn't preserve things, just holds them. Shoving the corpse will just cause it to decay inside the Estate.

[x] All of you should remain behind. You can hunt for the slayer later, but if you wish to harvest all of the Cavern Bringer, you need all available hands.

Psh, someone else can deal with the murder monster for a change, I'm gonna make this our holiday.

the hoarder part of me is screaming to get all the loot, but logically, we aren't losing anything we worked for and frankly i dont see the mole having anything we cant get better somewhere else. plus whatever killed it might have materials to harvest too.

...There is a genuine part of me that thinks digging up the mole is a good idea. Keeping in mind it's weakening from not being fresh, it might give us a notion of how strong the mole was, and following that, how strong the killer of mole must be. Which appeals to me personally much more then face-tanking this encounter.
Sure, in theory we're gonna live. In practice it could very easily be a 'fail forward' sort of live.
