Anyone have an idea what a certain ship normally costs? (Like an Eta class shuttle, a GX1 Short Hauler, or a GR-75)

Thanks, that gives me an idea on the cost saving option. With those sort of prices a -5 would be pretty big discount. Now I read the option closer though that's not what the option is so I'll go with influence and research.

Inception!

Nah but if you got a spare warship lying around and some fusion cutters you can tear out some bulkheads, sell some weapons and bob's your uncle. Other folk might like it for flexing like a combat ship turned into a yacht. Not going to be the best yacht but some folks dig the aesthetic.

A Q-ship is a ship that is designed to look like a merchant ship, that also packs enough guns to make the poor sods that try to sink it suffer. Having it be a warship would make horrible at it's job...

...I don't see the difference between a ship with guns disguised as a merchant ship and a warship modified to be disguised as a merchant ship.

Cladding and some framework?

Wouldn't work very well on a star destroyer but could work for smaller ships similar idea as the Yorik-stronha

...umm.....
I don't even know how you adjust the hull to not look like the ship it is. I mean, it sounds like you want to change the frame of the ship to look like a merchant vessel. :???:

Me neither, that is a problem for whoever end up with the job, i know almost nothing about ships.

I know that Q-Ships are ships with guns disguised as merchants ships, and i thought i knew some other things but thinking about examples about things that i knew the only things that came to my mind is that a ballast can be filled with water, and that half the time the power take-off of a sand dredger breaks is because people didn't follow the instructions to install it correctly or do any maintenance.

Edit: Seriously, sometimes they break them in less than 10 minutes, usually they break in about two months because people can't follow simple instructions like "press the lever before using it" or adjusting a nut.

Q-Ships aren't disguised as merchant ships, they literally are merchant ships. The whole idea of the Q-ship came about in the early days of submarine warfare, when torpedoes were unreliable and inaccurate, so submarines would pop up to the surface to use their deck guns to attack. While the submarine was doing this, the Q-Ship would break open the facade cargo containers onboard to reveal the guns bolted onto the deck and shoot the submarine first.

Not yet, the system differs from the old one. I'm working on it.

I wonder if we can make ships with droid brains
Yes, you can! Of course, you need a droid brain or develop on yourself. Then you need to design a computer system that allows that much automatization. Then you need a customer. But it is possible.
