[X] "I have reason to believe that it's not impossible for the Transistor to create its own soul. The thing that told us about this is dead now, but I wouldn't say no to a second, sane opinion on it."
[X] "What is magic? And how did it break the Transistor so badly?"

[X] Measuredly- You're still not sure you trust Ozpin. Maybe it's paranoia, but on an objective level, you still have no idea how he'll react to anything- so… keep a few cards close to your chest. Just so you can have them for later.

Let's be careful about what we tell til he has our trust more

[X] Honestly- You're not hiding anything. This is not the time for that. You'll tell him just about everything he wants to know, and then some.

[X] Offer them their own Cells--secure communication, an unkillable buddy for combat (or just a messenger if need be), and they definitely fall under the "good influence" category for interaction with the Process. Yes, even Qrow.

Ozpin's personal secrets can wait until he trusts us more. For now we have to get him to trust us. And also get into the wonderful world of the Ozluminati.

Lots of people seem to think Ozpin isn't trustworthy despite the fact that he has spent possible millennia preventing the literal genocide of humanity.

[x] Honestly

Get the easy one out of the way first. Ozpin might not have made perfect choices but he's still the Headmaster of an academy and he needs to know what we can do, both because it very much affects the other students and because he can help us. We have no reason to mistrust him and trying to play games for the sake of playing games is never a good idea.

[X] "What is magic? And how did it break the Transistor so badly?"

This is for me. I want to know everything I can about magic because magic is cool. Tactically this is also important because I assume we're gunning to checkmate Salem as our long game, and she's the only being besides Oz who can currently use True Magic (name for Age of Legends spellcraft open to negotiation) but I will admit that the entire reason I want this is because magic shinies.

Oh hey look thread it's that question we had about Ludens' information being posed to the single best expert on the topic on Remnant.

Someone pick up that phone?

I could be persuaded otherwise, but I like these options. Not getting too invasive with Ozpin's soul, and yet learning more about souls and magic to open up new options.

Honesty is what I'm wavering on more. Getting too deep with Ozpin so soon might cut into social time with Jaune' s friends, which adds stress on top of his serial-killer mission, helping Creme, and delicately handling Blake's thing.

Ozpin has an agenda. That agenda does not necessarily align with our best interests. It may be what he thinks is best for Remnan society, but let's not start telling him too much about what we've done or what we can do without a clearer idea of what he wants and why he's doing what he's doing.

Jaune literally just met the guy, we don't need to share everything with him unless he proves himself trustworthy. And we shouldn't press him on the nature of his soul, unless he volunteers the info.

Please keep write-ins to questions about Ozpin, magic, Salem,
Uhh, Jaune doesn't know about Big Bad Salem yet, boss.

The Transistor soul thing feels private, and not actually like something we should bridge just yet, that can come later when Oz and Jaune have an actual relationship in which a little trust is extended both ways. Get a better social rank before we start talking about soul / tech heresy with the old wizard.
Qrow is similar. 'Why do you need goons? What, are you some kinda conspiracy?' is a bit intrusive and off topic.

Luckily the Transistor can function as a powerful lie detector, because if we're going to be honest with Oz being able to call him on bullshit sounds very useful.

There's a couple ways to approach this situation. I kind of want to go with measured because I feel it's more in character, but I really want Jaune to get info and it seems like the more we impress Oz the more he's willing to share honestly. We're probably not going to learn about all of Oz's deal here, but he can't lie to us (probably, but if there was anyone who could it would be him) so even getting him talking more is informative in its own ways.

Because Jaune is completely aware of that, of course. And besides, he's probably had to make a lot of hard decisions, "greater good/lesser of two evils" type stuff, and that's assuming a new type of soulless entity with the potential for rapid growth and not quite human mindset doesn't worry the fuck out of him.
