With a grumble and a shrug of apology, the two of you go back to being complete strangers- whatever familiarity you'd hoped to spot wasn't there after all.

Still, no reason to say you can't get to know each other on the ride up, though.

Let's make a new friend.

As for the rest, I'm looking forward to seeing how things work out with CRDL, @Prok has given them some development I hadn't expected.

Because really, the main cast shows up all over the place in RWBY fan fiction, but I can probably count the number of quests I've read that does something worthwhile with CRDL on one hand and have fingers left over.
The boy looks to be about your age, though taller, and bulkier, and generally just, larger than you, with a head of short brown hair, kept neatly combed backwards. The only thing that takes away from the whole appearance is the pair of metal-rimmed glasses perched on his nose, magnifying his eyes ever so slightly.

"Uh, yeah, I'm looking for a drawing tablet, but... I don't really know much about them, I'm more a pen and paper kinda guy. I just wanna get one for weapon and armour design, mainly, I've heard they make doing the whole process digitally a lot easier than a mouse and keyboard. Aside from that, I guess, just... general art? Does it matter that much?"
"... The problem I find with tablets that have built-in screens is the same problem that really old Scrolls used to have- they'd keep making tougher glass, so companies would keep making it thinner, and there would be no overall improvement in toughness. You drop it, it cracks, you just wasted 4000 Lien. People say they're easier to use, and yeah, they're right, but once you deal with the whole contact/appearance disconnect, it's really a non-issue."

"Uh huh." He responds blandly, really quite obviously not taking any of this in.

"At the same time, though-"

"Computer's set up." You call out, breaking Rosalind out of her monologue and drawing a silent look of relief from her victim.
Running into artist Cardin while we were shopping for electronics was a pleasant surprise, so I'm optimistic that he'll have some actual depth as a character here.
Nothing. It's the blandest look you've ever seen on a human face- you might as well be looking into a porcelain mask. Then it's back again- that easygoing smile, his eyebrows and free hand raised in placation.
Actual Sociopath Dove is also not something I've ever seen before. Unexpected and intriguing.

I liked the imagery of a porcelain mask, it's an evocative suggestion of the inhumane posing as humanity. Probably why it has also been used by the faceless goons in the Noir anime and is a method of zombie making in Legend of the 5 Rings setting.

In the field, he'll presumably use the Transistor to deploy them instead as an outrageous cheat the instant he gets that working, but that comes later.
Like I said earlier, what's to stop us from just having the Transistor project Glyphs using holograms, or from us from projecting them using Aura? Probably as good a way to deploy them as any.

Things are looking pretty one sided here, eh?

I'm getting interested in how Jaune's reputation amongst the students is developing. On the one hand, I'm kinda surprised that he's apparently someone Sky is nervous about getting a revenge boner on, on the other, there has to have been SOME kind of gossip about Mr. All White Suit with THE Sword.

Will Sky give Dove some kinda heads up? Hmm...

Requirement: Pass Goodwitch's tests, both by learning the knowledge necessary to create a safe circle to pulse Aura through, and improving your fine mobility skills to the point where you can draw it without outside assistance. Or, find another solution,
I'm guessing there's a reason people don't use machine-printed glyphs that were designed in autocad, right? Probably something to do with it being too impersonal for Aura or something.

The three things that come to mind are
  • having the Transistor provide stencils so we can draw inside the lines
  • Taping a pencil to the Transistor (or using it as a laser printer, but the taped on pencil is funnier)
  • scanning the underlying energy physics of how glyphs work, the same way we scanned that healing semblance.

Reward: Unlocks the Glyphcraft(Novice) skill, allowing you to create simple Glyph Circles of your own design, after some trial and error.

You know, thinking on the possibilities of Glyphcraft makes me wonder if the end-tier version is basically just pulling a Louisoix Leveilleur/Allagan Empire from ffxiv level of fuckery and doing something like the creation of Dalamud or the like. To give a visual example, here's a video demonstrating a level of glyphcraft that is attempting to create a false moon in order to imprison what is effectively a god.

I know it probably won't appear as this, but it certainly gives an excellent visual as to the extent that Glyphcraft could potentially be taken thanks to the usage of the Process. I only wonder if this would be absolute end-game level, and what the preceding steps would be.
