Anyone else kind of wish we'd find an Hui Formations Slip? Something that'd eventually let us make our own misdirection ward for our future home, together with some general secret/subterfuge formations for spying. I feel like one of the reasons we've been ignoring Formations is that we simply don't have any examples of worthwhile ones for things we don't want to invest entire Arts+Meridians in. But once we're past the intersect competition there'll be less pressure and more time to prepare for our fief and duties, and this would be our chance to get Ducal level formations in our field (and it'd be funny if we used them against whomever lived here). We get to cooperate with Li Suyin and Bao Qingling for the silk components, Meng Dan for the Hidden Moon, and sneak in some formation work into our embroidery sessions with CRX and Meizhen.
Maybe, but if we get some information on cool illusion formations like the stuff surrounding this place, I would rather get some knowledge on the big stuff, the stuff that works by working with geomancy and the natural land to really do some wide-scale stuff. Unlikely, I know, but I would really like the idea of a nice retreat for Ling Qi, her family, and her friends that can't be reached unless you what to look for.

But, this site may have some details on other sites like it in the Wall or in the Emerald Seas in general or some information on the movements of Cloud Tribes in the area that could be useful for the Sect in their own efforts. There is a lot of potential here, and I'm excited to see what, exactly, the Hui were hiding all the way out here.

I mean that's sort of what a large scale misdirection ward is. I imagine we could find the blueprint for the very wards we're about to pierce and then develop it with our Loneliness Domain and gardening experience. Just wards in general are very Ling Qi and she's big on home, safety, sanctuary and refuge. Wards are basically geomancy and we have Zhengui, the principles are there for us to create our own Forgotten Vale. Like, a Hui third realm Formations slip would have an eye towards the higher realms, lessons that are the groundwork for their Dream palaces, secret hideouts and spy networks for their scions to make their own as they grow beyond Green. We combine this with Zhengui's own geomancy focus and our mutual gardening and that's all we need to do this.

There's a real chance this is one of the places the Hui fled to after the Cai's coup, the stuff that could be hidden here might both be awesome and very thematic for us.

Except since integrating Forgotten Vale Melody, that's a function of her Mist. If people decided to train Formations, I fully expect Ling Qi would be able to emulate the effects of her Mist with formations.

We will definitely learn some geomancy, it's just a matter about what. We're doing gardening already which is basic geomancy and when we build our home we'll probably use geomantic principles in making the land ours, even if we'll probably leave more explicit reshaping to Zhengui. Anything that's about places is geomancy and we have a lot of ideas for our fief from growing our seeds to creating a Dream Palace rooted on Zhengui. We'll give Hanyi her own frozen mountain and vale. We're a control, hard point cultivator with a home theme, we're practically guarantee to do geomancy.

Aside - not on current discussion,

I have just binged this entire quest from start to finish in the last few days and I have enjoyed it immensely. @yrsillar, just wanted to say that you have built something special and I have now spent too much time trying to find something similar in the vastness of the internet without success. Thanks for what you've created so far, may it last many more moons...

(Not asking for recommendations as I don't want to clog the thread - PM if you have any)

[X] Pass command to Xia Lin

Hmm, think I'll vote this with good intentions, but bad-faith. It's a nice gesture and allows us to pry open her perspective a little bit more, while hopefully easing some of her insecurities. However, if something cool/shiny shows up, I'm 100% in favor of dropping the pretense of hierarchy and doing whatever it is that most reliably leads to loot or information, which is plain bad faith.

Silver lining is we could actually pretty easily manipulate Xia Lin's disapproval of us going rogue into binding her and Cai Renxiang closer together. Shouldn't even be difficult. This even fits Ling Qi's definition of sincere, because we'd be giving her command in pursuit of a particular set of goals(seeing how she operates, easing her insecurities) and simply not mentioning that we consider it conditional under the right conditions.

Basically, this vote is the one that's more like a heist and therefore better fits Ling Qi's character.
