There is no emotion... (A Jedi Order Quest)

Sure, I'll go with Ossus as well. We have an archive there, right? So what's the worst that could happen?
Do you really want to find out what the answer to that question is? I thought not.
Frankly I'm not even sure why having an archive at our HQ is a problem - it's something of an essential feature and there's a reason the Coruscant temple had a big fat set of archives.
Murphy's Law: Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.
You should never taunt Murphy, because well, it could always get worse...

At some point though, you have to accept a degree of risk. Councillors having to traipse halfway across the galaxy to look in an archive is not exactly practical. What matters is at least one archive is elsewhere and kept safe.

I'm not sure how that leads you to Tython? It's even more off the beaten track. Like, the Deep Core is a mysterious warren if you venture off the main big hyperroute.

I mean, it is one of the places that's thought to be the origination of the Jedi Order, importance isn't always how 'accessible' it is. Dantooine is literally just an outpost, one that did a good job of surviving Sith bombardment, and has played an important role in the recent Sith Conflicts, but I don't want it to be the Headquarters of the Jedi Order. People don't want to set up in Coruscant, despite the several good reasons (central location in the Galaxy and closeness to the Senate among them) and so Tython is my second pick.

Why not Ossus then? It has similar pedigree, is more accessible at the moment, and it being reconstructed makes it very symbolically valuable.

Ideally I'd go for Telos, but we're not allowed Telos apparently so Ossus is my rather easy second.

[X] Yes. Send an independent fact finding group. (+15 PP, submit a list of Jedi)

I'm not an expert on Star Wars stuff but a quick look at Tython on Wookiepedia tells me:

1. It's in the middle of nowhere?

2. Too much dark or light side force causes city destroying storms. The Jed'Aii had to keep in total balance, any gathering of Jedi would cause constant Force Storms?

3. It's probably a deathworld right now due to saturation of dark side energy? And if we managed to purge that, light side energy would also make it a death world?

4. It's an excellent location for driving jedi insane / to the dark side?

5. It's completely covered in horrific monsters?

Like, I understand it has a lot of force juice, but maybe there's something to be said about having too much force to be a good headquarters? It looks like Jedi Knights proper originated in Ossus because Tython would have killed them for being too light side. I'm just reading a couple entries here, is any of that wrong for the game?

Yeah...
Honestly, on one hand, it will probably be very hard to actually get a foothold on that planet. On the other hand, if we do, it also likely means at least the typhon branch would be much more mentally stable, and resistant to pretty much subsuming themselves into the emotion fueled side of the force. And well, they would likely be much more knowledgeable of the force, a.k.a they would better understand what 'balance in the force' is referring to.

I always found attempts to try and editorialize about how you have to "have some Dark to balance the Light" real dumb.

So, yeah, it doesn't work like that. In exactly that way. It's complicated, but making it the capital will be feasible if you find it.

Yeah...
Far from easy, but well, Legends material has is possible, so it is possible. And honestly, even Canon one Jedi managed to harness the energies of the dark side. Though how exactly Vaapad works depends on if you go by Canon or Legends...

Because rebuilding on Tython is even more symbolic. I like the idea of the Jedi basing themselves from the place where the concept of being a Jedi was born.
Tython wasn't ravaged in living memory though. Ossus was - and like Telos (albeit different war), that's the symbolism our order should be looking for, rather than an ancient world that was lost ages ago with no real connection to recent events.

[X] Yes. Send an independent fact finding group. (+15 PP, submit a list of Jedi) : Councilor Juhani, Consular Atris, 2 Jedi Sentinels, 1 Jedi Guardian, 1 Jedi Consular, 5 Padawans.
I'm in favor of having the Jedi put more focus into the Outer Rim than they did in canon, so I don't want to mave the Council.
The selection of Juhani to lead the mission is because of her past history as a slave, giving her a perspective into the situation that others might lack. The whole party is based around having different perspectives of the situation so as to avoid bias, and the Padawans are as important to that as the full trained Jedi due to their lack of experience leaving their minds open. The group would have 25 Combat, 34 Wisdom, and 31 Diplomacy, which will allow the mission to have a better chance of success.

I'd like to vote for Tython or Ach-To, but realistically they're not going to win.

it's your super-secret backup archives. Like, where you'd keep the Arc of the Covenant if you found it. Ideally, someone should have to choose between attacking it and the Council if they want to find some artifact from Marky-Malak and the Funky Bunch or something.

I dunno know if I'm explaining it that well, but I'll try and come up with a better example later.

[X] Yes. Send an independent fact finding group. (+15 PP, submit a list of Jedi)
[X] Supplement a Republic fact finding mission. (+5 PP)
[X] The Jedi High Council will move to Coruscant. (???)
[X] "Visas-Marr." You have stood against the darkness since the moment Surik spared your life-- but you will never forget it. You see it, you will always see it, have seen it since Nihilus took everything from you. You will not repeat the mistakes of Jedi past-- the Dark Places will not be dark to you. And those who turn to the Dark Side will not be allowed, in secret, to plan their wicked deeds. Under you, the Order will burn away the darkness. Bonus to discovering Dark Jedi plots.
[X] "Atton Rand." From Revan's personal butcher squad to Grandmaster of the Jedi Order-- you were surprised too, but it seemed everyone wanted to avoid a situation like the Mandalorian Wars, where so many grew so furious at the Jedi that they would declare war. Under your watch, the Jedi are going to be a proactive force-- you are going to meet the Dark Side head on, confront it, face it. No more Mandalorian Wars-- no doubt you'll make your own mistakes, perhaps even have the opposite problem and end up going to war when you shouldn't, but you'll burn that bridge when you get to it. Reduction in required vigilance per Sector.
[X] The Jedi High Council will remain centered on Dantooine, for the moment at least.
    [x] Ossus
[X] Plan Too Tired to Think Of A Name, Just Finished Exam
-[x] Write in: His brother's master should be another Jedi because family do not always make the best teachers, but Kador will be allowed to supplement his brother's instruction and patrol schedules arranged so they can spend plenty of time together.
-[x] Holocron of Nomi Sunrider (1/3)
    -[x] Masters' Trial: +8 to 14/20.
    [X] Tython
[x] Yes. Host the Synod of Dantooine in 3944 BBY, dealing with at least the two aforementioned matters.
    [x] Mira
[x] "Bao-Dur." You killed a planet, once. Every moment of your life, since then, has been atoning for that-- in so much as you can still claim to be alive. Telos, Taris, Dantooine-- all those worlds which need to recover after the Wars-- you have walked among them, helped rebuild them. The people know you, and they know what you will do. The other thought the Order needed that focus. Under you, the Order will help the Galaxy rebuild, and the Galaxy will love you for it. Bonus to PP.
[X] Accept the help of Atris, Last Master of the Fool's Council
[X] Yes. Send an independent fact finding group. (+15 PP, submit a list of Jedi) : Councilor Juhani, Consular Atris, 2 Jedi Sentinels, 1 Jedi Guardian, 1 Jedi Consular, 5 Padawans.
[X] Plan Many Low Hanging Fruit
[X] Reclaim the Coruscant Temple. The most important site to the modern Jedi Order, a bastion of the order-- plus you've always wanted to have an entire floor to yourself. Standing in the Core Worlds, all the galaxy will know, soon enough, that the order is reborn-- and all will be well.(Vigilance requirements for Core Worlds reduced, bonus to engagement)
    [X] Plan Ossus and Armor
[X] "Mira. Just...Mira." To put it simply, the Order needs recruits, and everybody else knew it, and they also knew you were good at finding people before you were carried by the Force. You will recruit more people to the Jedi Order than anybody else, because you will know how to find them, how to talk them, and so on. There is the slight problem of Hanharr and his Life Debt, and how he will almost certainly not stop hunting you, but eh. That's life. But anyway, yeah. You are excellent at finding your target-- it's just that in this case, you're recruiting them instead of turning them in for profit. Under your watch, the Order will grow like a weed. Recruit more Jedi per year.
[X] Reclaim the Dantooine Enclave. Your order consists of six people, maybe seven if you can pin Bastila down at some point, and at a really hard stretch eight, if you manage to find the Padawan who the General spoke to earlier. You do not need all the space of a whole Temple yet, and in some ways you think standing in the Outer Rim will be good for you. And it will make it easier for this rebuilt order to locate Force sensitives from the Outer Rim. (Vigilance requirements for the Outer Rim reduced, bonus to recruitment)
    [X] Reclaim the Dantooine Enclave.
[x] Request Republic aid to rebuild Dantooine
[x] Request Republic aid to locate Missing Jedi (0/3 Burnt) *3
    [X] Accept
    [X] Decline
[X] Yes: Councilor Brianna, Councilor Mical, x2 Jedi Consular, x3 Padawan, Padawan Atris
[x] We accept you among the masters, but we do not grant you the rank of Councillor
    [x] Plan: More Knights Sooner
    -[X] Learning From the Past (0/10) x10
    -[X] Broad Applications (0/10) x5
    [X] Plan: Efficient Approach
    [X] Jedi Explorers?
[X] No. As much as you hate Czerka, you won't threaten everything, betray the General, by getting the last of the Jedi killed. The Republic can stand on its own.
    [x] Plan Knowledge and Defense
[X] Brianna: A well-trained warrior, she could pass along Echani philosophy and weapon's training to her students-- though you expect only a very particular group could make best use of it. (Bonus to Jedi Guardian/Jedi Weaponmaster Experience gain)
[X] Plan Ace in the Hole:
    [X] Yes
[X] Many Students, One Teacher (0/5)- There aren't enough of you for you to teach only one student each. For the moment, at least, you need to be training multiples. (Bonus to recruitment Quantity)
[X] One Student, One Teacher (0/5)
[X] Use the Freighters to Guard the Hyperlanes
[X] Yes: Councilor Brianna, x2 Jedi Consular, x3 Padawan
    [x] Atton Rand
    [X] Plan Cautious Optimism
-[x] Reinforcements: You don't really need back-up, but you also don't need to shower-- it is, however, a preference of yours. (+1 for Event Combat Checks) (30 PP)
-[x] Investigators: Not all of your Jedi are Sentinels-- having some professional detectives from the various Republic law enforcement agencies around would help a great deal in this current war. (+1 To Event Skill Checks)(30 PP)
-[x] Defenses: If Czerka attacks the Praxeum or the Academy, your primarily non-combatant students will be put in grave danger. While you already have protection on Dantooine and on Telos, the Republic could spring for more. (Reduction to Jedi casualties in event of facility attacks, One-Time Bonus to Dantooine/Telos Development) (40 PP)
-[x] Colonies Patrol: The Colonies have proven themselves something of a weak point in the Republic's defenses-- it is where most of the successful attacks took place. The Republic would be very happy if you helped beef up their defenses, even if you only send a Padawan or two to help out. (Gain Colonies Patrol) (+30 PP)
-[X] Leave as is (0 PP)
-[X] (Core) Protect against Czerka Activity (Keep your people safe)
-[x] (Colonies) Protect against Czerka Activity (Keep your people safe)
-[x] (Mid-Rim) Damage Czerka Assets (Break their stuff, free their slaves, and hear the lamentations of their stock-holders)
-[x] (Outer Rim) Investigate Czerka's Plan (This whole thing started because Czerka had some sort of aggressive plan, on their end at least. Figure out what it was)
    [x] Plan Temple and Guns
[X] The Atton Strategy: Atton, Kador, and their Padawans will be deployed to the Colonies, to bolster the defenses there. (C8 W7 S8 D7 V9 V7)
[X] Plan Cover All The Bases
    -[X] The Core (Needs 4 Vigilance): Councilor Mira (Combat 3, Wisdom 4, Skill 4, Diplomacy 3, Vigilance 4), Grandmaster Bao Dur (Combat 5, Wisdom 3, Skill 4, Diplomacy 5 Vigilance 2). Total: Combat 8, Wisdom 7, Skill 8, Diplomacy 8, Vigilance 6.
-[X] The Mid-Rim (Needs 6 Vigilance, Combat Focused): Councilor Juhani (Combat 5, Wisdom 3, Skill 1, Diplomacy 3, Vigilance 2, H5), Councilor Visas Marr (Combat 5, Wisdom 3, Skill 3, Diplomacy 1, Vigilance 4), Councilor Atton Rand (Combat 4, Wisdom 3, Skill 3, Diplomacy 3, Vigilance 4), Padawan Kador. Total: Combat 15, Wisdom 10, Skill 8, Diplomacy 8, Vigilance 11.
-[X] The Outer Rim (Needs 2 Vigilance, Wisdom Focused): Councilor Brianna (Combat 5, Wisdom 4, Skill 1, Diplomacy 4, Vigilance 1), Councilor Mical (Combat 3, Wisdom 5, Skill 2, Diplomacy 4, Vigilance 2), Councilor Bastila Shan (Combat 4, Wisdom 4, Skill 3, Diplomacy 3, Vigilance 3, H3), Padawan Breda. Total: Combat 13, Wisdom 14, Skill 7, Diplomacy 12, Vigilance 7.
[x] You won't let Czerka ruin everything, like they did on Telos. The Jedi are going to war. (150 PP, much Engagement, increase to all mission difficulty until war is over, missions revolve around attacking Czerka assets)
    [X] All the knowledge
    [X] Plan Reclaim Infrastructure (220 PP Spent, +/- 15)
-[X] Reclaim Coruscant Temple (150 PP)
-[X] Reestablish Jedi Scoutmaster (Head of recruitment) (50 PP)
-[X] Attend Czerka Asset Auction (20 PP)
-[X] Back The Vara-Wall Bill in the Senate (Proposes the formation of three new Special Activity Centers, IE fortresses+shipyards, along the Perlemian Way Trade Route) (+15 PP if passes, -15 if failed)
    [x] Plan: Preserve and Reconstruct
-[x] Introduce a new Jedi Caretaker of Knowledge (40 PP)
-[x] Request Republic aid to locate Missing Jedi (2/3 Burnt) (60 PP)
-[x] Send a Jedi with a Republic archeological expedition(15 PP)
[X] Plan Put Off The Infrastructure Decision For Now

Vote is still open, I just want to have a tally before bed.

I'd really rather make somewhere else the backup archive - Telos is kinda perfect for an HQ otherwise. Ah well.

Vote will be called in one hour.

Sorry I've been sort of lackadaisical, I've been planning a revival of A Force Undying. Expect content for that soon. (As in tonight)
