[X] [Rob] Trial: France has been in fear for much too long, the show trials have gone on for too long, what it needs is justice. So France shall receive it, Robespierre, once The Incorruptible and perhaps still is, shall be given trial, a free and fair trial. For the good of France and the Revolution.
[X] [Lackeys] Trial: Simply tossing them in prison or killing them shall be insufficient, they shall not die because of simple association as thousands already have, they shall be treated fairly as all Frenchmen should.
[X] [Napoleon] Talk: You shall speak to Napoleon with a clear mind and an open one. Perhaps he has manipulated you, perhaps he has not, you shall speak with him to understand his motivations and clear any misconceptions. (Continue with The Life of Brian.)

[X] [Rob] Execution: This man has caused so much pain. So much death. So much heartbreak against both the laws of man and nature. He will die for his crimes

I'm sorry but Rob and his lackeys are gust too dangerous, they need to die.
[X] [Napoleon] Yes: He used you. He had better come up with a damn good reason for you not to kill him. You have some stern words for him. (Continuing the Life of Brian.)
As much as i really won't to get back to our main character, but this is gust to important.

It's going to be difficult to achieve something that resembles a timely fair trial in this political climate, even less with a war going on. If this passes I fully expect that it will default to the Imprisonment options with a trial scheduled for an vaguely defined later moment.
But the attempt has to be made or we are relinquishing the spirit of the revolution.

I find that the dice kind of makes every action we take irrelevant. We could fucking dance around naked in front of the Committee of Public Safety and if its a good dice roll, there wouldn't really be any significant consequences to it, feels like relying on it too much cheapens things.
Well, you could dance and roll high, and that would mean you dance really well-- heck you might gain a new dancing trait! Doesn't stop the Committee from arresting you for going in alone to challenge Rob to a dance-off, though :V

If Napoleon was really manipulating Brian, why wouldn't he insist on storming the Assembly himself? That brings him the most visibility. Still, it's a good idea to have a frank talk with Napoleon to see where his mind is with events in the update and the assertion of rule of law that the questers are going with here.

I'd vote for something a bit more aggressive with Napoleon, but I missed the bandwagon so my vote is mostly a formality.

Let us hope the trial doesn't blow up in our faces. And let us hope our talk blows up in Nappy's, if such a thing is possible.

Like what are we even charging him with? Treason? I fully expect this trial to blow up in our face. Especially considering Marat is still around and can more than rile up an entire city.

Like what are we even charging him with? Treason?

I think the main problem is: by what laws are we judging him? Of course, I don't expect it'd cause much difficulties - at this point, arbitrary trials are kind of a given, and for once most people will probably cheer for it - but let's not kid ourselves: it's just one last kangaroo court to hopefully end all kangaroo courts. Well, for a while at least. Hopefully. Maybe.

There's a lot of charges you can come up with for his specific case if you want something to stick.

Treason isn't going to work, but something like "Popular Injury" could work very well.

Laws aren't real in the first place, so all that needs be done by Brian is cover the coup's power base, keep the city calm and charge Robespierre with a crime that (while not precedented and is ex-post-facto) is factually valid and can be levied successfully in court.

You're not going to find a law on the books for punishing the abuses of the state because the abuses of the state are how the state survives. It's an essentially violent institution.

Actually holding it or its ministers to account for that violence is beyond the bounds of the preexisting system, so an innovation is necessary.

As to the trial blowing up in our face, there are literally hundreds of extra points between all the omakes that have been written to put the trial in the bag. @SzechuanSauce We're looking at you.

Actually, I don't remember, did we put a limit to that? Because that seems like a sure way to kill all tension in this quest. I think there was a limit in place, but I can't remember.
