Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Holy shit, I'm glad we picked culture after all. I would much rather bet on Ling Qi in a culture mission as opposed to a military or trade mission. Good lord, Shenhua is scary. Thank you Linqin, for shielding us from the worst of that. Sorry for pissing you off immediately afterwards.

Hail the glorious oppression mom and her new skaven servants. White gonna White and oppression mom gonna oppress I guess.

So when in the chap did Linqin shield LQ and/or CRX from Shenhua's...Shenhua-ness? B/c I don't think I caught it.

Here:
"You stated that this barbarian did not speak the tribe's common tongue. How then did you communicate?" A voice, Diao Linqin's cut through the pressure, pale pink rose petals closed around the burning radiance that threatened to crush her, loving and covetous.

Through bleary eyes, Ling Qi saw the throne. Shenhua's radiance had grown less diffuse. Ling Qi could see her now, leaning forward in her seat. She wore a sheer and scandalous gown, a pure white thing with a deep cut out that could not be called a neckline. A deep 'V' that went all the way down to her navel, with only thin strips of fabric preserving a hint of modesty. A feathery white pibo floated around her shoulders, and coiled around her bare and muscular arms.

Diao Linqin's hand rested on her back. Or at least she thought it did. Nothing aside from blazing light was visible above the Duchess' shoulders.
Linqin seems to have extended her domain in a way that claimed more of Shenhua's light for herself, which has the side-effect of making that light fall less terribly on everyone else. After that point in the chapter, Ling Qi's internal narration shows that she is much less overwhelmed.

It really does almost seem like Linqin has taken the Way of absorbing Shenhua's light for herself covetously, like a flower always seeking the sun.

Does Ling Qi even have her ears pierced?

I'm curious how that works for cultivators of her rank. Are there professional artists that specialize in this?

"Earrings? My family occasional partakes in such cosmetics."
Meizhen unspools her ribbon blades
"Alright now just keep very still."

Great chapter, really happy with how the vote turned out.
And while it depends on our further success, for now atleast, Shenhua approves.
One thing that really stuck to me about this how Shenhua was described.
"the punctures in the human face worn by the Light that was Shenhua." Not Shenhua's face, but face worn by Shenhua.
It really helps to hammer home how cultivators become less human the more powerful they become. Eventually ending up more like sapient forces or emmotions occupying a hole in the universe where a human once was.
Or possibly an opinion that has consumed the person who once had it, and become independent.

edit-
Oh, and...
[X] Combat Perception
- [X] Earrings
Seems somewhat unnecessary, but should vote to show support anyway.

I asked the same in the old thread (well, the second part anyway). Didn't get a whole lot of answers though.
Personally I wouldn't expect her to have her ears pierced, given that she basically grew up on the streets. Could have happened before that, of course, but I doubt they'd still be open.

And since I frankly do not want to change that:
[X] Combat Perception
-[X] Ear Cuffs
