I am gonna take a stab at what is happening with Atlas and Shiro. I am gonna say their consciousnesses are merging.
How dangerous? the only thing I remember involving rock from outer space was that one filler arc where a whole villages was being born with a new type of release thanks to the magic radiation of a meteorite.
The light wouldn't be, based on the fact that space is black not white/whatever.
TBF, the Geto Statue hasn't been up there for a few years/decades.
As for our Cousins, they would have found their way down here eventually anyways. Sealing away that rock won't help none.

The bodyguarding doesn't interest me: the client is utterly unreliable.
The bandit elimination probably won't interest Shiro that much, he's not much for indiscriminate killing.

Can't ALWAYS be good, but more often than not it's really fun which makes up for when it's not technically good.
Plus, it gives us a great excuse to learn Water Walking! And play around with Water Needle! And just explore all the fun aspects of Ninjas At Sea!
