[*] Plan: A Genre Plan for the Park
-[*] A Ride: Tim has the idea for a ride through the movies that could go in the theater, although of course you could always look into a different ride.
-[*] Hollywood Backlot: An area designed to look like the studio backlots of Hollywood. Would make for a convincing entrance to the park,
-[*] Toontown: An area based off the Toontown of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, full of animated characters.
-[*] Metropolis: An area based off the bustling cities of the world, but primarily New York, this is Superman's home.
-[*] Indiana Jones Action (will require a meeting with Steven and George): A couple of sets in an area based off the wildly popular Indiana Jones films.
--[*] Set the theming to Barnett College (Indy's school), a New England style college town, and work with George and Steven to fill out Indy's as yet unseen adventures.
-[*] Cyberpunk Dystopia: An area based off the new genre that films like Alien have hinted at and films like Blade Runner have shown in detail, a dreary and dingy cityscape of a bleak future.
-[*] Write-In: Pre-War Los Angeles: A Fusion of Noir and Horror
--[*] Set the period to a time when Universal's movie monsters are hitting the big screen. When you can have Gangsters shootout appear with Wolfman and Mummy movie tricks.

-[*] A New Hotel: The board has asked you to start working on a number of hotels this year. It's time to knuckle down and start working on some major expansions here, just so you can handle the increased guest flow. {PLANNING}
DC: 10 per success, requires 10/15/20 successes, for value/moderate/deluxe level resort.
Benefits: Move to Groundbreaking Stage.
Results: 26+20+20+20+10, 96. 9+1 total successes.
Well, the board is scared about the recession, so this might be the last new hotel you start work on this year. Still, you put your nose to the grindstone and begin the plans for a new hotel. After the comments on the Grand Floridian, you're considering a cheaper option, but you could always go for a higher goal again. Though, with Elizabeth staying on… 10 total successes on planning a new hotel, sub vote on type, further planning continued in "Everyone Can Stay, Part 1."
After all the debate that went into the initial planning for Hollywood Studios, you're glad to have a relatively easier job in getting the planning for the second new hotel here in Florida lines up for today. You've decided to go for another value level offering, given the recession, and that means you'll have the chance to work with Elizabeth again.
"Liz! Glad to see you." You say, as she arrives in the conference room with the usual team of architects behind her.
"A pleasure as always, Mike." She responds. "Although what's this I hear about a giant project over by the Magic Kingdom?" You pause for a moment and she chuckles. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding. That project sounds a bit too derivative for my tastes, to be honest." She walks over to the map. "So, where are we setting up this time?"
-[] Bay Lake. This location is quite close to the Magic Kingdom, but it has slightly worse waterfront access to the park in exchange for being somewhat closer to EPCOT. Large boost to Magic Kingdom park draw, small boost to EPCOT park draw.
--[] Small: 500 CP, must have at least 250 points of rooms, but no more than 350. 5 groundbreaking, 5 construction.
--[] Medium: 1000 CP, must have at least 500 points of rooms, but no more than 750. 10 groundbreaking, 10 construction.

--[] Huge: 3000 CP, must have at least 1500 points of room, but no more than 2300. 25 groundbreaking, 30 construction.
-[] Crescent Lake. This location is right next to EPCOT, with the potential to connect to the park by water. It's not too much of a hassle to connect to the monorail, either. However, due to the large amounts of canals and other wetlands in the area, your architects don't want to start with anything too large here. Huge boost to EPCOT park draw.

-[] Bonnet Creek. Right between EPCOT and the soon to be open Disney Marketplace, this spot is already on the monorail line and in a prime spot to connect to all your Florida parks and attractions. However, it's not particularly close to any but the Marketplace and EPCOT, and you don't have nearly as much solid ground to build on here as you'd like. Medium boost to EPCOT park draw, medium boost to the Disney Marketplace.

-[] Southwest of the Disney Marketplace. It's a bit of an odd location, but it has a good chunk of the advantages of Bonnet Creek without the size restriction, if you can figure out a good way to get it hooked onto the monorail line. Small boost to EPCOT park draw, large boost to the Disney Marketplace.

-[] The Southern Edge. You just finished Animated Adventures, and it's looking immensely popular. It might be worthwhile to keep expanding down there, and as a bonus, it's already on the monorail line. Plus it might make for a good chance to test the people mover system over longer distances…

"Hmm, sounds good." Elizabeth says. "Of course, now I have to ask: have your imagineers got any designs to work with?"
"Well, they had been talking about a hotel based off the designs for Tomorrowland over in Cali…" You say.
"Might be a bit awkward if you don't bring that update over here, or if you go for something different." She responds. "If you do end up building near Animated Adventures, you could always just expand with some of the more recent offerings."
"Could also have a spiritual successor based off of Silly Symphonies." You say. "Of course, there's always the All-Star designs to fall back on, too."
-[] Tomorrowland Spaceport Hotel. A hotel designed to simulate a futuristic hotel at an alien spaceport.
-[] Animated Adventures, Part 2. There's more movies to base buildings on, and with the success of the first, there's no reason not to stick with what works.
-[] Silly Symphonies. The musical counterpart to Animated Adventures, this hotel focuses less on the Animated movies and more on the musical history of Disney shorts.
-[] All-Star. A basic design, no frills.

AN: No moratorium, votes open for 24 hours. You are, of course, welcome to also begin considering what you're going to stick into the hotel, though I will remind you that your current board goal is 1250 rooms total this year.
-[] Silly Symphonies. The musical counterpart to Animated Adventures, this hotel focuses less on the Animated movies and more on the musical history of Disney shorts.
I would argue against putting another value hotel right next to Animated Adventure. Better to put it somewhere else where it can have more impact on flow of guests. I am on-board for the Silly Symphonies theme though. Also, does anyone know what our room total is looking at right now with the Grand Floridian?
Well, I like the idea of a musical resort... putting it next to Animated Adventures gives us the chance to get some synergy with that complex, like the theater, also the Monorail Station is right there. Grand Floridian has just a bit over 900 rooms, so we should aim for a moderate and get 500 or so rooms.

Whille I do like the idea of a hotel near Bonnet Creek, I think we should put a moderate quality hotel over there, and perhaps make it a huge, but not this quarter, or maybe even this fiscal year. Silly Symphonies makes a nice parallel with Animated so... yeah.
While I don't disagree, I think we should hold off on that at least until the recession is over. The reason is that a spaceport hotel (specifically if we want to do it right), would likely be a Deluxe resort or at least a moderate. We already voted for value, and I really don't think we should go with such an expensive theme for a value hotel. But definitely for the future...
Also what do you all think about pushing the hotel to be a bit over capacity to get more rooms. We debated it for Grand Floridian but here we could easily add a few hundred more rooms because of it.
eh... fair point. I was mostly going medium because that's what Animated Adventures was. If the two hotels are built in parallel, it seemed like a good idea for them to be the same size. Modifying it to Large so we can get the board off our back about hotels for a while
We would. We just have to hit 320 rooms. Even the minimum on a Medium puts us over. Oh and no this doesn't mean small is advisable. Theoretically we COULD do it with a small but, we'd have to max out on rooms, and have a paltry 150 points for amenities. Pool and Laundromat and that's it. No Hot Tub, no Park, no Theater, no Gift Shop, no cafeteria.
I'm going with Large mostly because it will get the board off our back about rooms, and maybe not give us a room requirement in 1987 to hit. They probably will have us do a Moderate hotel or two, but hopefully won't insist on a room total.
I would like to argue against Southern Edge, mainly because having two Value hotels in the same location could cause a massive strain on the Monorail services. It would also serve to make that area of Reedy Creek seem to be "lesser" as time went on. "Oh, that's where the folks that can't afford the better hotels go."
