Great Man history is unbecoming of you.
I don't think its a case of Great Man history, I believe the quest is rightfully showing how circumstances and outside forces were just as much a factor in allowing these great men to rise as their natural talents did.
If you wish, I could have every action be decided by dice roll :V

tbh, I'm not a simulation machine nor Tolkein (can't say the same about the others...), so keeping track of a few characters each at most to follow and a few important players in each country is about as far as I can go without leaving everything to the will of Chance.

Is the campaign in the Netherlands effectively over and we lost, or is that just someone being dramatic and we can still make a come back? I mean, around this time IOTL, the campaign in Flanders also faced major defeat that caused Dumouriez to defect, so perhaps we can still make something of this mess and still push them back.

The campaign isn't over 'till you've signed the treaty! Those men who held off the Coalition advance allowed the rest of the army to get back to safety, so there's still the chance for a counter.
Dumouriez is holding onto France, thanks to the inspiration of Thérèse and the support of the other generals, as they're sharing the consequences of this defeat.
We keep hearing news about the war in the North and in Germany, but what about the war in Italy? How goes our progress there?
That hasn't begun in earnest. Repelling the British navy from a base in Toulon and preventing uprisings from gaining momentum down south will weaken the Austrians' ability to push down there.

@Plausitivity
If France falls, is that a gameover?
Or do we keep playing so long as we have an unsurrendered army?

(I would hope we keep playing so long as Therese is alive, but I'm tempering myself)

Flee to Haiti and create a Revolutionary Republic in the Americas with the help of L'Ouverture! We might even recruit Bolivar.
Exactly why I asked the question, so long as we're alive, free and revolutionary there's still a story to be told.
If France does fall, then are you going to lie down and take it? Would you have descendants hundreds, thousands of years from now, hear of France's children abandoning it in its time of need? Nay, the resistance will live on, so long as liberty lives on within the hearts of men, women, and children!

What he's saying it... as long as Therese is alive, the game will continue, though 1821 is going to be the earliest date for you to retire if your not dead or... married off to people who will force you into a traditional role in society.

What you do while you're alive, is entirely up to you, and the Will of France.

They may not be mutually exclusive.

Now a rendition of a song for the people of France, to tide them over in these dark times

A la volonté du peuple
Et à la santé du progrès
Remplis ton cœur d'un vin rebelle
Et à demain, ami fidèle
Nous voulons faire la lumière
Malgré le masque de la nuit
Pour illuminer notre terre
Et changer la vie

Il faut gagner à la guerre
Notre sillon à labourer
Déblayer la misère
Pour les blonds épis de la paix
Qui danseront de joie
Au grand vent de la liberté

A la volonté du peuple
Et à la santé du progrès
Remplis ton cœur d'un vin rebelle
Et à demain, ami fidèle
Nous voulons faire la lumière
Malgré le masque de la nuit
Pour illuminer notre terre
Et changer la vie

A la volonté du peuple
Je fais don de ma volonté
S'il faut mourir pour elle
Moi je veux être le premier
Le premier nom gravé
Au marbre du monument d'espoir

A la volonté du peuple
Et à la santé du progrès
Remplis ton cœur d'un vin rebelle
Et à demain, ami fidèle
Nous voulons faire la lumière
Malgré le masque de la nuit
Pour illuminer notre terre
Et changer la vie

Ahh... Is it an omake if it's just a rendition of a famous song from Le Mis?

Maybe, maybe not... I think @Plausitivity will be the judge.

The People salute you for your service! Maybe de Lisle would make a song like this under certain scenarios...

I mean it's the original version of the song that was made into "Do You Hear the People Sing?" in Les Miserables (the English one), so it's not OC, if that's what you're asking :V

so um asking for some assistance... can someone help me find an appropriate song for a Napoleon Anime...

Thank you.
