Would [] Obfuscate be a possible choice?
By that I mean instead of scrubbing the footage, why not upload several dozen more almost similar but conflicting reports and rumors?

I can easily imagine a TV playing the news at the clubs bar, or someone with a Scroll doing the same and blindsiding Jaune.

Engaging social media has the same issue that we would have run into with the personal assistant option. We need to design a way so that it doesn't learn from trolls. Or at least it learns to troll them back properly (just the trolls).

Still a strong risk of getting people interested via the Streissand Effect. An incomplete coverup is arguably worse than doing nothing because it draws attention and is reasonably shady.

Anyway, we aren't going to be able to do anything useful with the pictures today and going off half cocked isn't going to do anything. While I'd normally argue for proactivity, Jaune's shell shocked right now, and if he has to engage with media he'll make a mistake. Decompressing isn't just nice, it's essential at this point.
Plus, there is literally nothing that can't be explained with "Semblance bullshit".
Remember the kid from Signal who has enough inertia to tank an energy ball that could throw Remnant out of orbit?

Got shattered, huh. Yeah, didn't suspect that, but there's a reason I wanted Jaune to have a bit more involvement. Did Transistor lose upgrades or anything else?
On that note, do we have a list of good ideas for making good money? We could really use some more Transistor upgrades (just an enormous amount of money to pour into distance between Jaune and sword allowable), and it'll be awhile before we can ask Weiss for help with that without coming off as a moocher. Plus we need a lot of our own money for other reasons as well—societal integration of the process isn't going to be monetarily cheap.

And I'll admit the giggle fit was cute as heck and is not helping me in my struggle to not ship Jaune and Weiss like a Maersk Triple E.

honestly the ship does make sense in this case. In their first meeting Jaune told her the compete truth with no bullshiting and basically gave her father the finger in a way that helped her.
this meeting we saved her life, continued the no bullshiting her rule, was there when her world got badly shaken and revealed something that makes it clear that he someone to at least consider: He doesn't want or need her money.
Jaques conned her mother into marrying him and gaining him control of the SDC, revealing the truth to her in the middle of Weiss's 10th birthday which has left her mother a broken mess in the bottom of a bottle for 7 years. Jaune is basically gearing up to be able be what her father is not, match her in wealth as a consequence of helping people and potentially help her redeem her family's name by bringing down her father.

Because it's not just the Process and the Transistor at risk if the spin goes bad, it's also Penny and any future siblings she might have. People lashing out in fear of strong AI aren't likely to discriminate between them.
