The bottom line is that you don't have enough information to determine who, if anyone, is in for an asskicking yet. Better go out and learn what you can from the students -- and while you're visiting the Newspaper Club, you guess it wouldn't hurt you too much to shill for them a little.
....only a little, though.
"We'll go check things out," Mizore says, and with a nod of agreement you turn to lock your door behind you.
As you retrieve the key, however, you feel your girlfriend's eyes on you. Turning to glance at her, you see a curious expression on her face. With her gaze flickering every so often to Ms. Nekonome, you have a pretty solid guess on what she's thinking.
Eh.
Bidding the teacher farewell, the two of you depart for the main campus.
"Jotaro."
It would seem Mizore wants to discuss something.
You slow down enough to fix your full attention on her, and prepare to listen to whatever she has in mind.
Unable to quite meet your eyes, and a faint dusting of red on her cheeks, Mizore asks, "Do you... want to see me in a maid uniform sometime?"
Hmph. You figured that's what it was about. You've never given the matter any thought, however, so you'll give her an honest answer. Not to say you'd provide her with any other kind, of course.
"Who knows?" You'd look great in anything.
Mizore falters in her stride, apparently having tripped over something. It's no exertion at all to catch her with your will, and the phantom sensation of her incredibly soft skin ghosts across your fingers. Damn it, that was just ambiguous enough that I can't tell if maids are a turn-on for him or not...!
__________
When you find where the Newspaper Club have their stand set up, another group of girls across from them are handing out photos of themselves in bikini swimsuits to subscribers. Honestly, you find the notion rather off-putting. Repulsive, even.
Just how fucking trashy are these people?!
As you turn to Kurumu and Yukari, whom you see are wearing maid outfits of the same kind as Ms. Nekonome's, you see mixed reactions. Kurumu is... embarrassed, but not hostile. She's wearing the kind of face that says, It isn't that I'm unhappy to see you in general, but not necessarily under these circumstances?
Yukari, on the other hand, is unashamedly happy to see you, on the verge of crying in joy. "You're gonna save me from this crazy cow, right senpai?!"
Yukari looks strangely huggable like this, bereft of her comically godawful magical girl outfit. Is this a form of witchcraft?!
Too early to say, really. Reaching out to their table, you grab a newspaper and start skimming through it.
Surely it isn't a conspiracy to try and awaken your dormant protective paternal instincts... is it?
"You know," Kurumu says after a moment, "it's kind of rude to just take one and start reading it without paying." Her tone isn't hostile, but she's still speaking loud enough that it does draw the crowd's attention to what you're doing. Honestly, every girl you know except Moka and perhaps your mother would be goofy enough to try something like that if they thought of it...
Glancing through section after section of the Youkai Gazette, you have to admit -- you're impressed. You can reasonably guess who wrote what from the writing style of most given articles or sections, but that isn't a bad thing; it shows the passion and energy that went into it.
Most features are informative or lightly amusing as appropriate -- and of particular note, the fashion feature even has a section of respectable length for guys. With Tsukune and Morioka being the only two males in the mostly-female Newspaper Club, you hadn't expected that men's fashion would have any coverage in comparison to women's fashion. The fact that... checking the byline, Moka and Yukari went to that kind of trouble really shows their dedication to making sure that their Newspaper has something of interest for everyo -- holy shit, they even saw fit to discuss new discoveries in the field of dolphin psychology?! And just when you were about to call bullshit on the article's content, you realize that they even backed up their reporting with sources from well-known and credible scientific papers!
Truly, their journalism is nothing short of fearsome!
Looking up from your reading, and seeing that every soul in the room watching you.... you lean over the Newspaper Club's table and reach for a pen. Without even saying a single word, you sign your name on their subscription sheet.
"H-hold on now," one of the so-called Super Newspaper Club girls cries out. "You can't just go picking their paper without reading ours!"
You've already made your decision.... but playing the Devil's Advocate, they deserve to have their product examined as well...
You start to step over to check out one of their papers, before Mizore disgustedly throws one down on their table; evidently she'd been scoping out their Youkai Square while you were becoming steadily engrossed in your friends' Youkai Gazette. The ambient air temperature starts plummeting, and atmospheric water vapor starts condensing into a cloud around Mizore like some kind of anime battle aura. "...you wrote this for elementary students. Right?"
One of the SNC girls, with tomboyishly short auburn hair, breaks out in a sweat. "Um... I don't know what you mean?"
Yukari, having snuck away from Kurumu to pull one out for herself, scoffs with but a glance at it. "Yeeaaah, this kind of writing is an insult to Kurumu's intelligence, much less anyone else's."
Grabbing the girl by her uniform's jacket, Mizore flexes her power and causes a little frost to start spreading over her collar. "If you girls want to sell pinups of yourselves, go ahead. But stop wasting our time with your pretend-newspaper."
Just as the SNC girl starts to nod vigorously, cowing beneath your woman's intimidating presence, a harsh female voice calls out. "HEY! WHO'S CAUSING A RUCKUS?!"
Keito promptly strolls into the room like she owns the place, before metaphorically freezing as she catches sight of Mizore.
For one bizarre moment, you imagine the scene filtered with a golden freeze-frame, as if two rivals were dramatically staring each other down in an anime.
The moment passes, and Mizore lets go of the girl she's holding. At the same time, Keito poses in such a way as to show off the Student Protection Committee armband around her left bicep. "The Super Newspaper Club is a subsidiary body of the Student Protection Committee! Lovingly formed by us in order to give Youkai Academy's student population a certified, approved source of information, in order to stop the proliferation of ideas that may prove seditious to monsterkind!"
With a sadistic grin on her face, she undulates and croons in a distinctly inhuman way. "Interfering with or intimidating its members, therefore, can be considered a crime of the same severity as committing an act of terrorism!"
Behind her, another trio of students in black SPC uniforms emerge from the hallway!
[]CRACK SKULLS!
[]Keito's got to be bullshitting. Call her bluff.
[]Where there are even a few bugs like the SPC, doubtless there are several more. Retreat and regroup.
