I like them, but Ada is the only one I absolutely 100% want on our team. The others would still be our friends even outside it, but she needs us.
If there was an Ada Partner option then I'd vote for that and I imagine a number of other people would as well.

Also, is it just me, or does anyone else dislike the binary nature of this choice? It reads like it's either JACL 100% or it's 100% random chance, like we wouldn't be able to specifically seek out people during initiation.

I love these characters, I really do, but I would much rather try to swing meeting Ada during Initiation and then leaving the other two up to chance. Everything is so much more fun when Jaune has to deal with unforeseen circumstances.

Ada is our Waifu for Laifu. What kind of a truly heartless monster would we be if we abandoned her? Also, Creme and Lumen are honestly more interesting characters to me than most of the canon cast, so we ride n die for them.

I can't remember for this quest, up to what Volume is canon? It's hard to keep track of where people draw the line in RWBY -- you can usually assume up to Volume 3 is good, but that's nearly half the series ago at this point*. And I follow way too much RWBY shit to get by without a refresher every once in a while.
...I also got the random idea in my head of Oscar being Oz's apprentice of some form instead of some random farmboy who gets screwed. But that gets into the mess of things past Volume 3, and from my perspective people seem to hate a lot of that unless they like Volume 6.

Personally, I'd rather get Creme or Lumen as our partner. Ada already knows we have her back, that the entire team has her back. Creme has the issues her semblance has caused her and her brother's involvement in the White Fang- not that we know the latter. Lumen has his own fascinating semblance that deserves expanding on, potential home issues of his own and is just a cool character. They both are. I'm not saying I dislike Ada or don't want to explore her story more in tandem with Jaune's, but I like everyone's story and I'd like to explore them more all in tandem. Ada's already got a lot of focus, and is inevitably due more anyways when Lee or her dad (or both, both is good) crash into the main story.
Though, come to think of it- all of our semblances have some pretty hefty consequences. Lumen can screw up his biology, if only temporarily, pretty badly with an unknown but likely risk of hurting himself more permanently if he pushes too far. Creme doesn't seem to have full control over when her semblance comes into play and who it affects if her comment about being unable to do physical jobs is taken into account. Jaune's will outright give him a stroke and eventually fry his brain if he's unable to shunt it onto the Transistor for long enough. Ada's semblance is so wrapped up in her own past traumas and existential horror it's kinda intimidating just to think about. Make's one wonder how Qrow will react if he realizes a team entirely of misfits with dangerous to themselves or their friends semblances basically forced the initiation together.

The OCs introduced so far are fun, and I've gotten attached to them. It'd feel kinda disappointing if we didn't end up with them upon beginning Beacon, so I'm fine with us ending up with 'em regardless. Fits motivation-wise here too, after this little scene.

Also, it bears mentioning that products of his Semblance can affect his state of mind. And, naturally, going "I can see in radio spectrum" is, as shown, rather unpleasant when he's around powerful radio transmitters... or when the sun is up.

See, I can't watch RWBY, partially out of disinterest with the way the series has carried itself up until this point, partially out of the fact that Ruby Rose's voice honestly, actually hurts my ears and sets off my tinnitus, so everything I know beyond the midpoint of Volume 5 is... really secondhand.
I know major things, like the fact that RT ripped off Mask Of The Betrayer, Adam getting fucking smeared across a cliff by Bumblebee, take that how you will, and there's an old woman who's hands down the best character in the show.
As you can see, my sources may be slightly biased.
My general opinion on the show is that I may have problems with certain directions it's taken, but nothing is so egregious that I'm going to throw out everything. Except for one thing.
You know exactly what thing I'm talking about. I love that thing. But it's not appearing as intended by RT in this quest.
I enjoy my SDCs not being Saturday morning cartoon villains, thank you very much.
