Is Qi cultivation something we should explicitly do know as opposed to getting it via passive pill effects?
Well, given that EPC only trains Stealth, Qi, and perceptiveness, and we need to do stealth on missions for the EPC bonus, I foresee us doing a LOT of Qi training in the near future :p

I really don't see an upside to doing formations stuff compared to seeing what is in the actual archive. The sooner we check the less likely we are to write the entire archive off as beneath us, the way we did with the last free archive

More like, if we went there looking for arts we had to grab something. But generally agree with the sentiment of "Archive is ImportantTM ​don't forget it".

The point is that we want to get as much expendable income as we can, ideally. We're not needing the GSS from Renxiang just yet, so turning it into medicine expense and then combining the change with our existing income and reserves to get another GSS is just economics practice.

On the one hand, sure; on the other hand, actually using a GSS results in 40 dice to everything across the board, up from the 10 dice of YSS or the 20 dice from high Resources.

So for 400 RSS you can add 20 dice per AP across 16 AP for 320 dice, or for 200 RSS you can buy a GSS and add 10 dice per AP for 160 dice at 16 AP... then spend 200 RSS on 'High Resources' for another 160 dice (20 * 8), then get another 80 dice without spending anything at all, for a total of 400 dice to High Medicine's 320.

Calcs: (at 16 AP) [Not specific to any Art]
YSS x16, High Resources: (T + S/4 + R) * AP = (6 + 140/4 + 20) * 16 = (6 + 35 + 20) = 61 * 16 = 976 dice total.
GSS x1, YSS x15, HR, MR: (T + S/4 + R) * AP = (6 + 170/4 + 20) * 8 + (6 + 170/4 + 10) * 8 = (6 + 42.5 + 20) * 8 + (6 + 42.5 + 10) * 8 = 68.5 * 8 + 58.5 * 8 = 568 + 468 = 1,016.

Looks like it really isn't worth it at the moment - I'd skipped over the effects of YSS in the earlier guesstimates. A bunch of extra math, for... 40 extra dice total... or 10 extra dice per Art (if it's one Art per 4 AP). Sigh.

GSS x2, YSS x14, HR, MR: (6 + 200 / 4 + 20) * 8 + (6 + 200 / 4 + 10) * 8 = 76 * 8 + 66 * 8 = 608 + 528 = 1136 dice.

Ah, that's more like it. We can even afford it! ... about half a dozen times in a row, too! However our other expenditures are unknown, and buying a GSS and 8x High Resources costs 40 YSS on the dot, leaving us with nothing for anything unexpected, and it's not enough of an acceleration at an extra 40 dice per Art.

Bleh, don't you just hate it when your own ideas are proven to be less than effective by the math you just did? Especially since we'll have a GSS at the end of it all, anyway.

And from what I can tell, people want to level stats that are closest to level up and then remember to focus properly, right? We haven't all forgotten that cultivators are specialists?

'C' in an Attribute or Skill is 'average' for a Green. It's not all that hard to reach, and we have more 'training' slots than we do focus skills or attributes that we can slot in.

I think we don't really need CP now though and we do need to get a look into the Archive at least to have an idea what it's about. Also I don't care much for the Formations training. (When I advocated for the Horror last year, it was in a try-it-out frame of mind. I wasn't very impressed with it, and don't want to push more into formations right away.)

I think my ideal stat spread would be Gamma's +1 Manip and +2 Qi with Grind's +1 Stamina. Stamina is better for us than Strength, Manip is better for us than Wits, and as much as everyone laughs about how much Qi we have no reason to neglect it given the chance.

The stats being grinded for is a pretty big point of contention as well between the two.
As far as I can tell, Gamma is +1 Manip, +2 Qi, +1 Strength vs Grind with +1 Wits, +1 Stamina, +2 Survival. I agree with @DeAnno in that I think +1 Manip, +2 Qi and +1 Stamina is best for us, but I'd switch the sect duties for an archive dive.

Blended the two stat lines. I could drop 1 AP somewhere if people really wanted the sect duties too, as well.

We will be able to grind up manipulation easily once we get back to levelling our music arts though. I'd go for wits.

If you can only train a stat 2x per turn it doesn't matter how many music arts we train later, we get behind in our Primary Attack Stat if we don't train Manip now. We should be pushing to train key stats like Manip, Presence, and Dex fully every turn. I consider Wits, Stam and Resolve next, probably Composure, Int, and Strength after that. Strength may eventually graduate to second tier if we get more offensive Dance Arts though, since it's the Dance damage stat now (our Hit C).
