People talk like the skywalker name means nothing but I would disagree. Taking on that name implies taking on our destiny as the chosen one. It isn't just a cool name it impacts how things happen in this quest. I would prefer not to be known as the chosen one and lay low. Also it is a good reminder of family.

"Balance" in the context of the dark side... just doesn't match up. I mean, any form of balance involving genocidal space nazis... just isn't really balance at all, or at least not any sort of balance that should be worthwhile.

I understand the confusion, given traditional western associations with light and dark, but the important thing about yin yang is that it is orthogonal to good and evil. The problem isn't yin or yang- the problem is too much yin or too much yang. In the context of star wars the balance isn't light or dark, it's the living force and the unifying force, ie the live in the moment act spontaneously, recognize whats right in front of you types (like Qui Gon) and the meditative. Contemplative Yoda types. The imbalance, which Lucas did a terrible job of conveying, was that the order was too much of the latter and not enough of the former. qui Gon adminishes Obi Wan, right at the beginning, to be mindful of the present, not get lost in the future or miss want a right in front of him. He ends up dying, which triggers all sorts of things, Dookus defection, and Obi Wan teaching Anakin being the two most important.

Of course going too far in the other direction can also be a problem- see Revan and the Mandalorian Wars.

I would like to keep the Lars surname because:
1) It's a way for Anakin to stay connected to his family
2) It's a way to legally get an alternate identity

I'm not planning on making Anakin a criminal or anything, but it would be nice to have two different IDs just in case we have any business we need to hide from the Jedi/Republic.

They cancel eachother out.
[] [Name] correct him Skywalker-Lars
There is no reason to be skywalker.
[] [Schedule] Plan WOW A JEDI
-[] [Schedule] Spend time with Obi-Wan Kenobi

I want to talk to Qui-Gon before he dies, and Obi-Wan before he becomes obsessed with becoming the perfect Jedi.
[] [Ambition] To Be Accepted into the Jedi Order. (1,000 XP, +1 Chosen Point) New!
Easy points!

Can you explain why taking one name over the other would affect Anakin destiny as the Chosen One?

Anakin IS the chosen one, and he would still be the chosen one if he called Jonatan Joestar or Manuel "Manny" Both-Hanz...

And why he is going to be known as the chosen one only by that name, or even for his lineage? His name is not going to influence the ludicrous number of midiclorians in his bloodstream.

Gaining a political education early on should help us in learning concepts of politics, representation, compromise, sociology, history, anthropology, oration, etc. We'll gain an understanding of the state of the Republic at large, and learn constructive ways to diminish social, economic, and racial inequality, free the slaves, and introduce policies that helps create a culture of responsible government and representation to the member societies, peoples, religious groups, and social movements of the Republic, and beyond.

It's an intersting ambition but I think we could take this later. For the moment "be accepting by the jedi seem more important for me"

i put my vote as Skywalker-Lars as a way for it to be A.S.L and Anakin S. Lars in any decent report on the clone wars so if any of the fam survives they know we wont forget them

Was referring to the hypothetical confrontation with Maul if it turns out that he actually did kill the Lars. Although, that is a nice idea. And "Anakin S. Lars" does have a better ring to it than just "Anakin Lars" . . .
