Star Dynasties/ Eon Wars

@mcclay A letter to House Volantia from House Louhi.
Dear Lord Volantia,

This might come unexpected, but I would like to propose to you a more cooperative means of interaction between our two Houses in the future. Let me explain:

Last cycle you chose to send forces to Delta Pavonis (28), a territory I had already claimed and sent forces to. Understandably angered by this, I sent a punitive force to raid your assets elsewhere. While we were busy with this unfortunate scuffle, the scoundrels from House Terra and House Delapierre raided each of our industries respectively, completely without justification or reason!

I propose that we do not let the small misunderstanding of the previous cycle consume us. We are neighbours in this sector, and we should try to understand each other. Let us instead focus all our forces on extracting vengeance from the uncalled for hostilities from House Terra and House Delapierre.

As to Delta Pavonis (28), I propose that we split it 4/4, and furthermore that we promise not to attack each other there. Butting our heads together there will only be to the benefit of the rest of the Houses. If all goes well, maybe we can even perform mutual defense of that system in the future, should anyone else try to attack it.

If you agree to this proposal, just subtly making a mark in your action post is sufficient for me to get the message. No need to let all the other Houses get jealous about of our new mutually beneficial cooperation model.

With hopes for a glorious future,

Lord Louhi, Head of House Louhi

so what are the current trade pact groups?

I'm part of the Orion Data Network, Zion's running the big one and i think there was one more?

I cannot find the mechanics on dice rolls for attacks/mechanics.
I must've missed it.

Only mechanic I found was the roll a D10 for Market Tariffs.

House Terra would like to extend an offer of vassalage towards the new house Theta. We are willing to extend you a small 4r loan in exchange for agreement to pay 5r back, and agreement to listen to our direction towards what targets to hit. you will also have access to our shipyards for the production of zero-g fighters for free, and escorts for a 1r fee.

We also wish to invite you to the trade pact.

@Lop did i manage to capture anything from House Daybreaker in 40 Eridani (sytem 27)?

If you say that they are inactive and so nothing, that's ok, but on the first glance it looks like you just processed one raid for me and nothing else :)

@Lop now that we are entering more complex warfare, basically we see players buying different troops from different sources, more complex and expensive tank weaponry and even building up their first Warships i've been meaning to ask you how is battle generally decided?
Basically you said that we should build up a little and we did but does troop diversity, more expensive weaponry, quality and quantity make any difference in war or does it all come down to dice rolls, or if it's mixture of all of those things, then how does that work in terms of game mechanis ?

You and House Dorn this next turn will be a good example. I've mentioned Conflict Scale Theory before, but basically all armies should have units operating on the nano, operational, inter-orbital and inter-planetary scales when in battle. Or, to put it plainly, you should have nanites, infantry, mecha and ships, because lacking any of them will leave you seriously unsupported. Now nanites I don't include because they should come-standard issue with most infantry. But let's look at you and Dorn next turn.

Dorn is sending in troopers, hunter-killers, mercenaries and a hero. All infantry (and nanites)

You're sending in Zero-G Warframes (Gundam basically) Warbots, Combat Drones, Mercenaries, Psinioic Knights and Vanguards. That's a good number of infantry and elite infantry, supported Warframes. Or, to put it another way, you checked off the operational and inter-orbital boxes, so that's 2 out of the 3 necessary for the full application of Conflict Scale Theory. So your army is pretty well supported.

And on paper, is going to absolutely shred House Dorn's unsupported infantry. Ahh, but House Dorn rolled better, so what does that mean?

Basically House Dorn just saved themselves from being wiped out. And there's the hero roll to consider, though 11 is neither here nor there.

So when going into battle, ask yourself, do I have units representing operational (All types of infantry and armor, you should have 1 type of both), inter-orbital (Zero-G stuff and Void Gate) and inter-planetary (ships)

And if you do, or at least have most of it, do you outnumber the enemy?

So that's all fine and dandy, but how do actually units fare against each other? Can Special Forces fight Mobile Armor? Who wins when psionic knights go up against elite-specimen? Who wins when Vanguard fight Commandos?

Some of these you can gauge based on price. Others will be determined by a dice roll. There are some I desperately want to see, such as Sorcerers versus Psionic knights, or maybe a threeway battle between zero-g specimens, zero-g warframes, and shining beings.

But that's the process, I hope I didn't confuse you guys, and at least some of it made sense.

I'm considering tweaking how you capture industries, but at the same time it seems pretty simple so I may just keep it. But yes I totally blanked on your capture action. I'll say you successfully captured either two industries or a unit-producing complex

So those are the nanites, now i know what to get next turn.

Oh no I'm sorry, I wasn't clear, nanites come pre-included with most infantry. You'll never mess with nanites. They are there in the background doing their thing.

And their thing is horrifying to anyone caught in the swarm.

While I'm at it, I'll just make a chart:

What You Want To Have For a Fully Supported Army, a Primer:

Operational Level: Any 1 type of following units fills this slot
Infantry, Special Forces
Troopers, Commandos
Hunter Killers, Elite Specimens
Combat Drones, Warbots
Vanguard, Psionic Knights
Cabalists, Sorcerers

Mobile Armor
Armored Specimen
Dark Matter Phantasm

Inter-Orbital Level:
Zero-G Warframe
Zero-G Specimen
Shining Being
Zero-G Fighter

Inter-Planetary:
Escort Craft
Warships

I'm probably forgetting some, but if you have something from each level, and preferably infantry AND armor from the Operational level, you can safely go up against anyone. Now you don't need to be fully supported, because maybe your opponent doesn't have every level filled either. But for reference, the best armies have all three.

@Lop I assumed Combat Drones are counted as "infantry/light units" and Warbots as "armor/ heavy units". Is that correct or do I need to supplement my robot armies with something more flesh-y?

Absolutely correct. You can compose your armies on the operational levels with real, trained soldiers, vat-grown soldiers, specimens, or robots, or a mix of them. Each have their little perks and drawbacks, but they're minute and will only come up on close rolls. Mostly its fluff and personal taste.

@Lop once again another player is in system claimed by me, though i didn't builded any industries there, only claimed it.Double slots again or something else, but i don't mind retreating from System 17 as well, nothing invested , nothing lost.
