[ ] Offer to refer him to Paragon Securities
"Well with grit like that, I look forward to seeing you Forun, but just to reward a good samaritan." Shepard said activating her omnitool and sending a message, sending a personal letter of recommendation to her PMC recruitment office. While she did not state to automatically recruit the volus, she did ask that he be given a fair chance like everyone else, if he made it then he deserved his spot in the PMC. If not, then oh well.
"There, I wish you luck Forun, and hope you can make it." She said before leaving the confused volus surrounded with new boxes of warhammer minis, whose omnitool just pinged reporting a new message according to her hearing. Shepard smiled as she headed home, today has been a interesting day.

The whole fleet Alliance fleet flew forth from the Mass Relay in groups, spread out across thousands of kilometers and minor calculations errors forced them to drift apart in transit resulting in a slightly dispersed fleet instead of a nice formation.
It was no matter as they would just reorient and regather as they traveled together to the war zone. The fleet doing their best to try to minimize their heat profiles as they slowly advanced towards the hidden Batarian forces at minimal speed to slow the rate of their heat buildup and delay their need to release said heat and thus alerting the enemy fleet to their presence.
However, it seems it was all for naught as the hidden fleet detected them far earlier than preferred and instantly got into battle readniess. Their ships coming to live and turning to face the incoming Alliance fleet with a signal for reinforcement being sent out towards the pirate moon of Tofan. Their cruisers and frigates immediately began unleashing volley after volley at the Alliance fleet with their rounds travelling faster than normally seen from ships of their size cause some of the Alliance ships to be unable adjust their course in time and dodge the incoming fire.
Thankfully, the fighters of the Paragon Securities company were on the ball as they had instantly deployed and managed to intercept all of the incoming fire with extremely precise missile fire to shatter the incoming ship rounds, causing their impact to be spread out across a much wider area rendering the attack only shield draining instead of shield or potentially ship destroying.
This however did not bode well for the upcoming engagement, thankfully the Batarian ships still adhered to conventional Mass Effect rules of combat as their volleys petered out as some ships began venting heat rendering them unable to continue to fire for the duration of the Alliance's approach.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
The Alliance fleet then opened fired with their own weapons in response sending forth volleys of fire not inferior to that of the Batarians own, especially the upgraded frigates which fired with the force of a cruiser, and the cruisers with a shot comparable to that of dreadnoughts. The pyndas were on standby hidden behind the dreadnoughts and cruisers, using their mass to and heat radiation to both visually and thermally hide themselves from the Batarian sensors. Meanwhile, ParSec deploying their drone complements ahead of them as they flooded out of their makeshift cargo transports which were basically cargo crates glued around the ships to be removed as needed. They advanced as one like a giant cloud of space locust blotting out the light of the distant starts behind them.
The Batarian Dreadnought sized carriers, a design stolen from the Alliance deployed its own fighter crafts no doubt attempting to copy the tactics recently shown by them to weaken the incoming rounds with one exception. Sensors indicated unknown vehicles among the fighters, vehicles that were soon identified as a profile match to the mech that had attack Landing previously.
The fighters peeled off to deal with the incoming mass effect rounds while the mechs charged towards the massive swarm of drones and smashed into them like a shark among a shoal of fish. Particles beams swept around them even as lasers blasted into the swarm, ignoring their shields, and more conventional mass effect shots flew into the densely packed drone swarm. Their unleashed missile payloads also dealt massive damage to the swarm with the swarm dealing only minimal damage in return as the mechs showed far greater mobility and evasion with any damaged being repaired by their armor or absorbed by their kinetic shields. The drone swarm was swiftly and shockingly being depleted at a far faster rate than expected, but it was worth it.
The Batarian fighters attempt to copy the Alliance failed and the rounds impacted the ships whose arrogance at being able to replicate their foe's tactic, thinking themselves able to do anything their more lesser enemy can do, failed to have them begin evasive maneuvers. The upgrades done by Paragon Industries showed their worth at that moment as the mass effect rounds slammed into their shielded hulls, severely draining them at best, and outright crushing through them into the hull itself at worst, and then the follow up rounds hit.
The Batarian fleet suffered severe casualties among its frigate contingent as their shields and hull were simply not strong enough to fully absorb the strengthen Alliance ship attacks. The Batarian fleet however while injured was not out yet, and sensors indicated that the main fleet at Torfan was already on its way, and will be here soon.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
The next round of fighting was a stalemate as things turned into a slugfest between the two fleets and their fighter complements. Both sides no longer just allowing rounds to come without initiating evasive maneuvers even at the cost of a firing solution being missed.
In the meantime Alliance fighters with drone support dog fighted with Batarian fighters and mechs. Pound for pound the fighters were far above their Batarian counterparts with their near infinite power to enhance everything, whereas the mechs reaped anything that came near them with their lasers and particle weapons which the drone swarms dutifully did as per their programming to spare the lives of their organic counterparts.
Ships meanwhile traded fire and dodged in return. The upgraded shields and engines allowed the Alliance frigates and cruisers to remain in the fight even as the occasional Batarian main gun rounds hit harder than previously recorded. Whatever upgrades they had made to their ships, it had given them a noticeable upgrade. If Paragon Industries had not created those upgrades to their frigates and cruisers this would most likely have been a massacre as their shields would have been ripped apart like paper as they ran rings around them.
A message was sent to the Council fleet telling them to reinforce the Alliance as the main Batarian fleet were coming, leaving the safety of their ground and orbital defenses. They responded back that they will be there soon.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
Unfortunately, the main Batarian fleet arrived first.
Fortunately, the remaining ships of the previously hidden Batarian fleet were between them and the Alliance.
Even more fortunately, they the one in charge of the fleet idiotically began trying to turn towards their fleet towards their reinforcements, redlining their engines to pull out of the battle and link up with the larger fleet, most likely assuming the Alliance would focus on the larger threat instead of fleeing ships.
They thought wrong.
Without the Batarians disrupting them with cannon fire the Alliance ships now put into action one of their prepared plans and linked their systems to the Paragon Security ship network, and more specifically their drones. While more of them were destroyed than they would have liked, there were still more than enough for them to function in their secondary role. A VDA. A very dangerous array where each drone collected data, and sent it back to be processed by the advanced computer systems onboard the Paragon Security ships, even though that left them slow to react if they were attacked by the ships, though the point defense were still operational as they fought off the surrounding fighters and mechs. The ships then fed targeting and maneuvering data to the rest of the fleet with the ships automatically begin to enact the maneuvers.
Hundreds of ship engines maxed out as they accelerated as fast they would go. Their engines charging up their main guns even as the Gardian defense systems locked on to their targets and began letting loose volleys after volleys into the enemy fighters and mechs. The coordination of firepower from the Alliance ships, fighters, and drones all controlled by a single system showed their effectiveness as enemy units attempted to dodge only to be met with multiple shots converging on their new location and instantly destroying them. Not even the advanced mechs of the Batarians were immune to the combined fire power of several ships focused upon them as dozens of lasers and missiles bombarded their tough forms to the point not even their durability and self repair capabilities were sufficient to survive. Nearly all of the enemy fighters and mechs were wiped out by the net of pure destruction unleashed upon them with the cherry on top coming next.
The main guns of all the ships were fully charged and now with every enemy fighter unit gone, even more processing power was free to direct the next shots at the bigger prizes. The fleeing ships. Calculations of trajectories and probabilities were made by the millions and discarded just as fast with every new scrap of information sent back by the drones. The computer systems of the Paragon Security ships would soon redline and need to be shut down for emergency maintenance, but the reward was worth it.
With a single synchronized digital command the entire fleet unleashed their main guns and torpedo tubes at the fleeing enemy ships. The enemy ships attempted to evade the incoming fire to no avail as the systems had already predicted their direction of escape causing them to still be struck by multiple rounds. Enough rounds were allocated to as many ships as possible just to hit hard enough to knock out their engines causing a vast portion of their fleet, including half their dreadnought sized ships, to have their thruster capacity removed leaving them to drift in space.
Then the torpedoes arrived. With the angle of their escape most of their Gardian defense turrets had no angle of fire on the incoming heavy ordinance as they proceeded to ram unimpeded into the rear of the ships and detonate causing devastating damage as the eezo with the warp torpedoes activated causing immense shearing forces to literally tear the back of the ships to shreds, destroying their engines, thrusters, and leaving the entire back of the ship or even half the ship open to the void. The lucky Batarians would have been those who died instantly as the rest would suffocate or freeze to death on their now powerless metal coffins.
The only survivors of the formerly hidden fleet were 5 carrier dreadnoughts and 50 cruisers, all with some form of damage from earlier, as they made it with range of the main fleet who began firing to cover the survivors.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
It was this point the Council fleet arrived...and proceeded to get slammed as the long range fire of the Batarians upgraded ships obviously surprised the Turian captains as their ships were accurately hit over and over by the enemy fire.
Their military disciple and formations working against them as the enemy had no problems targeting them and the ships around them perfectly even spaced as they were, ships that refused to dodge without orders, orders delayed by surprise. The front line of frigates were swiftly smashed apart and left burning and drifting as hulks through the void even as the ships behind rushed forward to fill in the gaps in the battle line.
The Alliance faired little better as the amount of firepower heading their way was several times higher than the previous fight with only the intervention by the Paragon Security fighters and drones once again needing to intercept the incoming fire. However, the fact that their ship computers were mostly offline to cool and be serviced meant that the previous coordination was no longer there and that the fighters had used up most of their missiles with no chance to rearm meant their effectiveness against the far larger amount of incoming fire was less that optimal.
They still managed to intercept the shots aimed against the dreadnoughts and cruisers, but the ones on direct courses to the frigates slipped through the gaps with only the reaction of the individual captains determining whether or not their ship could evade or tank the incoming rounds.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
It was at this point the Alliance deployed their ace in the hole, the 180 laser Pyndas laying in wait in the back this entire time. All of the pyndas accelerated rapidly 'above' the field of battle, followed by the drones behind them though at a much slower speed. The fighter complements meanwhile were still refueling and rearming back at their hangers.
The Batarians obviously saw the incoming threat and knowing of their lethality a large portion of their fleet immediately began trying to turn to target the incoming Paragon designed ships only to fail as their speed was far in excess to their ability to turn to get them into their firing arc. The Pyndas were making a great distraction as they had essentially pulled over a third of the enemy fleet out of proper firing position and had completely distracted them from the drones behind them. The Pyndas completely flanked the enemy fleet with the tracking ships now completely facing the complete other direction of the combined Alliance and Council fleet. Then the drones attacked.
The swarm of drones dived 'downward' into the middle of the fleet and spread out as the drones wrecked havoc among the enemy ships launching their missile payloads at all the shield emitters they passed by, the missiles far slower movement speed allowing them to bypass the ship's kinetic barriers. Starting from the center of their fleet countless small explosions could be seen as the drones expanded outward releasing their payloads. The ability of the enemy fleet to defend themselves would soon be neutralize even as their Gardian defense lasers tried their best to fill the void with lasers to take them down which while effective was not doing it fast enough.
The Alliance and Turian fleets then opened fire upon the chaotic Batarian fleet not their combined guns sending forth thousands of glowing blue balls of super accelerated metal rounds through the void of space and smashing into the enemy formation over and over again. Meanwhile, the pyndas made full use of their speed to constantly dart around the end of the battle space to force the enemy to keep focus on them and prevent them from contributing their main firepower to the rest of the battle even as they kept getting pelted by long range mass effect fire by the pyndas and missile fire from the diminishing drone swarm.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
It was at this moment something changed among the Batarian fleet as suddenly they began accelerating towards the Council fleet position en mass. Even the ships which were distracted by the Pyndas stopped and immediately did a hard turn and accelerate as well. Every ship began firing as fast as they could towards the Turians with the ships in front being used as sacrificial ships as they absorbed most of the firepower being sent their way allowing the rest of the fleet to close in.
The Pyndas, fighters, and drones were not just going to let this happen however as they made use of their superior speed to follow behind the enemy ships and began blowing out the engines of every ship they could reach to leave them dead in the water with all of the dreadnoughts and most of the cruisers disabled. However, a little over half the frigates and cruisers still managed to reach knife fighting range with the Turian armadas.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
And then proceeded to ram them.
Eyes all across the fleet opened in shock from those not hit while those who were already issued orders to brace for impact as thousands of frigates and hundreds of cruisers smashed head first into the Turian ships and formation. Their main guns firing as fast as possible along with their Gardian lasers both for the ships ramming and those diving deeper and deeper into the Turian fleet.
Orders were given and the Turians tried to take down the frigates but it was impossible, the Batarian ships were moving too fast, too close, they could not reorient fast enough to target them and they would also be risking friendly fire.
The Alliance were far better off due to the fact that the Batarians had chosen to charge the Turian battle line and instead focused on repositioning as the Alliance captains predicted that the Batarians were actually trying to escape the battlefield by going through the Turians.
The Pyndas and Parsec forces were now too far away deep in former enemy battle lines to contribute as they focused on making sure the engine damaged ships had their weapons disabled with liberal use of lasers and missiles.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
Ultimately however, the Batarian's gambit was all for naught as the Alliance's upgraded ships were able to accelerate and cut off the escape route of the Batarian ships that managed to get through the Turian fleet cause them to be sandwiched between them and the Turian fleets who were now spitting mad and the massive amount of casualties inflicted by the Batarian's madness.
The combined firepower of the two fleets swiftly destroyed the remaining Batarian ships and marine boarders were sent to all of the rammed ships to help them fight off any potential Batarian borders, rescue the crew, and if possible repair the ship to at least get it moving again out of the battlezone.
Now the way was clear to the real target Torfan, but first everyone had to take stock of their damage, their losses, and their dead before continuing onward.

AN: The dice really did not like the turians. So how did you find my first attempt at space fleet combat? Anything I can do better or change?
It is getting harder and harder for me to write for this quest, I can feel my muse fighting me every step of the way and my will to continue flagging down. As you can tell from the update the quality is dropping as well with it. I feel so tired. Will be the last update for a while I think, unless I get a sudden surge of inspiration and willpower or something for this quest or if someone else wants to take over. I will try to finish this war arc if I can at the very least.

Round 6
Alliance: 86 + 10 = 96
ParSec: 92 + 30 = 122
Council: 55 + 15 = 70
Batarians: 3 + 30 = 33
Fall Back to Orbital Defenses? = 21 Nope.
Alliance: 86 + 10 = 96
ParSec: 92 + 30 = 122
Council: 55 + 15 = 70
Batarians: 3 + 30 = 33
Fall Back to Orbital Defenses? = 21 Nope.

Round 7
Alliance: 79 + 10 = 89
ParSec: 78 + 30 = 108
Council: 28 + 15 = 43
Batarians: 79 + 25 = 104
Alliance: 79 + 10 = 89
ParSec: 78 + 30 = 108
Council: 28 + 15 = 43
Batarians: 79 + 25 = 104

Round 8
Alliance: 85 + 10 = 95
ParSec: 47 + 30 = 77
Council: 51 + 15 = 66
Batarians: 88 + 25 = 113
Alliance: 85 + 10 = 95
ParSec: 47 + 30 = 77
Council: 51 + 15 = 66
Batarians: 88 + 25 = 113

Round 9
Alliance: 95 + 10 = 105
ParSec: 32 + 30 = 62
Council: 87 + 15 = 102
Batarians: 42 + 20 = 62
Alliance: 95 + 10 = 105
ParSec: 32 + 30 = 62
Council: 87 + 15 = 102
Batarians: 42 + 20 = 62
