Hey, don't take away Igor being Gilgamesh, that was one of the best brain bombs of the entire quest!

Okay, I really want to show off my research here.

There's an entire Carl Jung cosmology out there. See Carl Jung wrote this crazy dream journal esque book called the Red Books that he never published because he thought it would cause people to think he was crazy.

But now, fast forward into the 2000s, it was released by Carl Jung's estate, alongside his raw unedited dream journals called the Black Books.

And the contents of which are fucking wild.
Most people who play Persona know about Philemon, Carl Jung's spirit guide.
Well, Philemon is the tip of the motherfucking iceberg.

Like... Philemon was once Elijah. And Philemon will become Phanes.
Sorta.
Philemon has a goddamn shadow. Philemon has kids and parents.
There's implications to this... ur-proto dream entity that was the origin of everything.
Carl Jung's own soul talks to him. Anima and animus.
I have a list. There's like a dozen of them. Izdubar is but one of them. They're all crazy.

Probably gonna tackle all this in a Professor Edogawa interlude at some point. On the to do list.

You also mentioned earlier that Nuke/Psy are more sci-fi elements, so does that mean we'll start getting Personae access to those?

Tentatively, all Plasma weapons (Plasma Grenades, etc) deal Nuclear Damage, and Laser Guns deal Psy damage. Archon has a Nuclear skill. Nuc/Psy are elements 'supported' by GGO.

Stats and how they'll be used seems...fine, for the most part. Although having STR being tied to carry weight/Persona slots seems like it would incentivize cramming the roster with high STR Personae every combat for those who really like to min-max. You could solve that issue by having only Hiyori/Lux's native STR determine that, but that would raise other issues...

Eh, I have a planned system. Basically you load Persona into a Gun. The higher that Persona's strength stat the heavier the gun they can inhabit without eating into your own carry capacity. You can load a 0 STR persona into a big gun, for example, but that eats into your base carrying capacity determined by your own STR.
Lux will be 'cheating' in that the Personas will literally carry the guns for her.

Cribbing from Shadowrun for gunplay seems like a good choice. Aside from the Bullet Line, will we be given anything in 'exchange' for loss of Smirk or Once More! given that we'll still have the title? Or will we have to earn it in GGO?

Other random thought, will you also be using Shadowrun's cover mechanics? If you don't clarify how cover works now, people will DEFINITELY raise that issue once we get into our first combat in GGO.

Nah, I'm probably not going to bother with cover. Narratively succeeding on a dodge roll will be you 'ducking into cover' or something. Might have options for you to hunker down or have enemies that are hunkering down (they don't move but have defensive bonuses) but that's more of a circumstance thing than an outright system.

Although I am curious...given that you're axing the current upgrade system, what would Reverse Arcana and Heaven Break have done?

On a related note, when you say nerf, does that mean that stats are going to be trimmed for Persona we frequently used across the board in exchange for Persona we haven't used getting buffs?

Reverse Arcana is just the initial idea of Reverse Persona (ie, sacrificing a Persona to your Shadow) in the Two Souls route.
And Heaven Break I didn't planned at all. I just wanted to throw in a cool name as a placeholder and figure out the rank 5 upgrade later. That is, uh, what I do for like 90% of the stuff in this quest. Throw out random hooks and worry about them later. The One Piece strategy of world building!

And nerf is changing up a few skills and adjusting stats to account for the new system. I plan on keeping the character of each Persona intact.

So is STR going to be the accuracy stat for gunfire?

Tentatively, no.

STR is accuracy for melee strikes and for determining what type of gun you can fire.
MAG is accuracy for magic bullets.

Pure gunfiring is gonna be purely based on the gun stats, and you can invest time into improving your aim with a specific gun style to give it accuracy bonuses.

Just remembered something I forgot to put in my other post, given changes to MISTCOIN, will Maneki Neko's passive be changed so that it won't be...invalidated by how easier it should be to get new MISTCOIN? And will Simon Magus' Simony cost more MISTCOIN to use as a result?

Magic bullets, huh? Reminds me of that one german play with the musketeer and his magic bullets cursed by the devil. We should totally call ourselves Zakiel if we don't go for Lux in GGO. Just for funsies.

<_<
>_>
F-funny you should mention that...

Yeah, probably gonna rebalance.

Zakiel/Zamiel is actually pretty cool and fitting. Hiyori has finally admitted to herself that she thinks edgy names are cool thanks to the EDGE PUNISHER and even if GGO resists magic it is a HEAVEN which means it can be warped by belief and DEATH GUN's main PC is called Sterbern who claims he kills people with a magic gun. We could co-opt their own mythology and set ourselves up as DEATH GUN's archenemy or weakness as the devil who gave him his magic gun and is now trying to reap his soul.

"Xaxa...I heard you've been a naughty boy. Didn't I give you so many lifes...and you are now just lashing out at everyone like a mad dog? Tsk, tsk. This magic gun of yours is not something to take lightly, you know? After all...don't you remember what happens when you get to that seventh bullet? You are nearing the quota, old companion. And Zakiel...Zakiel always gets what it's due to her."

Next arc, how will buffing and healing Personas like Mithras Liturgy and Magnum Opus work? Will their effects be actively resisted by GGO or will we be able to use them by turning them into something like syringes to inject their effects? Or will they also be turned into bullets? That would be pretty funny to see with Hiyori just shooting people to heal them.

Fatal bullet has buff abilities built in already, so not much friction there.

But eh, a healing gun huh...

Truth be told folks? I'm not a big gun fan. Gonna need to google a lot of stuff.
I am, however, a huge TF2 fan...

Let's go with the Dante playstyle of dual wielding. Our main weapons will be a pair of powerfull pistols. With one different Persona in each one, Urvashi(or the Neko) and Mithras. As a sub-weapon we can have a machine gun that will house Undine, Khodumodumo or Magdalene. And then a sniper rifle, rocket launcher or grenade launcher that will house Putana, Alice or Khodumodumo too for extra damage.

Random intrusive thought: If we grow powerful enough in GGO, could we have our Personas manifest akin to a T-Doll from Girls' Frontline (basically, androids that are personifications of the guns they wield).

Also, for select guns, you can go to Ahoy on Youtube for gun research on some media staples.

I'm not much when it comes to quests and ttrpg, I don't have a lot of experience there so I'm staying out for now. One thing I am all for though, is murder!

[X] KILL HONORIFICS-CHAN

Bring out the guillotine!

Seriously though, if the QM is more comfortable with it, than getting rid of honorifics is no chip on my shoulder.

Though, my true vote - as it was in the initial vote on this - is "whatever you, the author, is more comfortable with."

LOL, my mind went immediately to Library of Ruina's Der Freischultz with Hiyori basically using it like the EGO page complete with Abnormality Battle 2 overriding the music.
