Well, unless we've already "got" the information, and are making a fighting retreat with it.
My worry is that the Anathema's on the other end, and "never actually probed the server" seems like something that would be easy to check for. And it's unlikely we could conceal an intrusion from the Anathema, and it'll know that.

Hence - it seems better to fake an intrusion and get rebuffed (dangerous, admittedly, because Anathema), or else let a server get blown up and then go "oops that was the one we wanted, kthxbye".

Looting Your Fomer Home Base
Choose 1:
[ ] MA-38 AESS + IX-881 Plasma Projector
IX-881 Plasma Projector

I'm convinced. Now that the artifacts we were supposed to track in the original mission are separated out, I change my second vote to the M-1992.

We have two cyborgs, and two heavy plasma casters. I think our choice is obvious. Well and also I kind of do want to pick up the thread of the Artifacts and the relevance of the pre-WoD and the grand cosmic themes those suggest. It's an appropriate way to set up the endgame conflict over the path of the Technocracy to Ascension. Also, Kessler with a Daiklave is win.

Smartgun + holopojectors basically make the wielder Nova from HotS. I like this idea. We even have a blonde.

The latter is obvious since it gets us daiklaves, a fuckload of guns and a plasma cannon all in one.

The former I'm willing to listen to opposing arguments on, but I think we should give some boosts to the squishier members of our team too, not just the cyborgs.

Edit: Vote changed.

Well, having two plasma guns makes it a lot less likely anything will survive Kessler and Elsa long enough to be a threat to the squishier members of the party?

Also there's a risk we can't get the symbiont off later.

What was the MA-38 again?
The MA-38 is the super armor Jamelia got from IBM that we never got fixed and was just sitting around doing nothing. UNTIL NOW

Also you cannot be too squishy ( ie not have at least some semi-serious augmentations) if you want to use the more seriousface symbiote options, that is unless you want to risk a heart explosion.

I'm going to note that the ZERUEL is also armed with a plasma gun-the biggest one in fact.

And the S-25 has the ability to make plasma as well.

Plasma plasma plasma.

The biggest draw of the artifacts is the crate of action movie guns.

The symbiont and the Zeruel rig both require someone to put in them, and we don't really have a human brain handy for the latter. Kessler or Elsa might be able to slot in, but really at this point I'm leery of humanity-sacrificing options.

Also, yeeees, the MA-38 is actually a really good option for Jamelia, too.

[X] Miscellaneous RD Artifacts + R-series "Rambo Specials" + IX-881 Plasma Projector

These are interesting. Especially if some of the artifacts are matches to weapons stolen from Moscow. Was Panopticon planning on framing our construct with them...?

Well in a way the ZERUEL is actually more human than Kessler. It doesn't mass 200 kilos for one. I think in a way it says something about humanity if you choose it. Jamelia can be right-humanity isn't sacrificed merely because you've got a superior cyborg body or that nothing of your corpus is natural anymore. Humanity is sacrificed when people choose to be inhumane, and the tools built by the Autopolitans or the Transhumans-they're still tools, which can be used for good or ill.

Except for the Anathema, who is a tool.

:p

I would point out that as per the character document, Jamelia has:

Moderate biotech enhancement of mind and body

and thus can use the symbiote safely.

(when she doubles in height, she becomes all of a little bit above 3m, and thus is only 3/4ths as incapable of fitting through doors as Kessler would be)

EDIT:

Also, I think the Guardian Rig is being undersold. By my reading, it allows SUDDENLY DUPLICATES WITH ALL YOUR COMBAT SKILLS AND THE SAME GUNS for a party member. Like, imagine Kessler using that. Suddenly the room is full of Kesslers, all with minguns concentrating fire on the biggest threat to him. Or a Rose murderpack swarming an enemy. It's both the Handsome Jack's Doppleganger action skill and the Warframe Mirage skill. It's a potent combat buff. Trust me. Have you seen what Mirage can do with it? It's a tool of bloody murder...

... as well as something we can give to Handsome Donald to keep him safer.

After all, remember how DVs work here? More people making attacks will shoot DVs to hell.

I kind of want the robot body for Henriette. With the right configuration, she can probably justify using her Drive skill for literally every physical action, which is insanely good. Then we can grab the symbiot for Jamelia, which should bring her up to combat monster, from her current level of 'really good at fighting.'

I don't want the daiaives, because they're likely shogunate or age of sorrows tech, and thus inferior to modern hypertech. Which doesn't mean they're bad, it's just that they're unlikely to be as good as the other options.

Therefore

[x] symbiot
[x] robot body.

[X] S-25-B8 Symbiont Armor + IX-18R Seeker Rifle

This is a very, nice suit of armour. It's also one which, unlike the MA38, can be worn for subtle occasions and can then transform on the fly, and given the party is going to be on the run, that's a very useful trait because it makes it harder to steal. Even at the "medium" level, it's auto-cannon resistant, which means it's casually immune to small arms. It can be worn by any of our cyborgs, Jamelia or Rose (or Sera, I guess, although that's just a self-defence thing for her), so we have a wide-range of users.

And it can breathe plasma and provides a wide range of alt-paradigm effects, and is a great focus for our party Progenitors.

For people worried about the risk of "permanent binding", remember - both Rose and Serafina have Life 4. Life 4 is enough to undo a permanent binding, because that's an Alter Complex Life effect. They just need to coax it to let go. Or possibly torture it with cattle prods. Rose is probably more in favour of the cattle prods.

And the Seeker Rifle was good too. Remember, it was an auto-hitting weapon that did at least 5L of damage.

[X] Prosthetic Rejection Inhibitors + IX-18R + Guardian Rig

Yeah, I'm doing this for the Guardian Rig. It has so many uses. It can be given to weak characters to protect them, or it can be given to strong characters to make them MURDERPACKS

(I want a Rose murderpack.)

With the number of aug'd cyborgs, PRIs are useful, and another Seeker Rifle rounds things out.

Okay lets go over why the MA-38 is awesome and why we should take MOAR PLASMAGUNS

4.5th Generation Combat Armor: MA-38 All Environment Superiority System
Cutting-edge combat armor built via Autochthonian nanoconstruction factories. Provides protection, mobility, and firepower equivalent to 21st century main battle tank platoon in a man-sized package. Note that high-level features may be dangerous to continued user function in terrestrial climates.
  • Nano-Lamellar Invulnarmor w/Inertial Canceller provides protection equivalent to heavy armored vehicle (Correspondence 5, Forces 4)
  • Doped CNT myofibril construction provides 100:1 strength enhancement and improved agility (Strength +5 [10], Dexterity + 2 [1])
  • Limited shapeshifting to create offensive or defensive structures (Matter 3)
    • Common structures include monomolecular palm edge (killing hand) or fingertip claws
    • Other structures include gripping spines/spurs, multilayered armor, and more.
  • Integrated Point Defense Systems eliminate hostile targets in close proximity with smart micro-munitions or DEW attacks (Forces 3, Correspondence 3, Entropy 1)
  • All-aspect stealth: Electromagnetic, neural pattern, entropic, temporospatial (Forces 3, Time 2, Correspondence 2, Mind 1)
  • Accelerator System Provides For Either Short-Distance Teleports or Sustained Reference Frame Acceleration (Time 3, Correspondence 3)
  • Integrated all-aspect sensor suite (Corr 1, Forces 1, Life 1, Matter 1, Mind 1, Prime 1)
  • High-Reliability Construction (Prime 5 paradox reduction)
This is a relatively slimline suit of powered combat armor that you could conceivably hide under a heavy coat without looking too bulky, with an integral helmet that can deploy in a fraction of a second for actual combat use. Right now, its color is pure white, but that can be changed in a fraction of a second. It's clearly seen some heavy combat and been patched up repeatedly. On the right breast, part of the last wearer's name is proudly emblazoned. "F. Ka-." The rest is illegible.
So its pretty concealable not as much as the symbiote but we don't and really shouldn't care about concealability when we need to bust out through some cybertanks and highend HITMarks on the way to the Mat Trans. What it does have besides teleportation that the symbiote doesnt and is super useful is its Hard kill PD system which will be vital in protecting the wearer and other people in the group from smart munitions and plasma and particle beams and the like. Also the all aspect stealth for when we need to be true ninjas.

Also this gives us an extremely potent anti-armor weapon which is way nicer than the seeker rifles and in conjunction with the other gives us a hellacious amount of firepower we really do need to bust out and get to the Mat-Trans. So if Ling brings the spidertank or something equivalent down we can be like HEY FUCK U. Finally though, we have had a long history in this quest of not picking up SWEET PLASMA GUNS which is TERRIBLE, and SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN THIS TIME.

And think, if you took the sweet cyborg body you could have the biggest plasma cannon. :V

I wonder how HARDER BETTER FASTER STRONGER!Rose would interact with that whole "Duplicates have limited battery life (30 seconds) after which they expire. They sometimes scream or beg when they die." as it seems like that wouldn't be as big a thing for her?
