I'm kind of wary about eating the heart, because...
Good point, changing my vote to a write in.

[X] Destroy the heart. This beast will not endure the march of ages as the flag of it's slayer. It's fate is that of all the other monsters of the past. Defeated and forgotten.
[X] Tell her a small part of the truth, that she is currently mentally compromised and unauthorized to know more until she recovers further.
[X] Blaze of Glory. The core is in this room. The enemy's gate is down.

This one is sort of different. It's a bit more of a memetic beast, that is slain again and again, winding up in flags, heraldry, the media.

If we actually crush it I wonder what that does to the media presence of dragons.

Uh... But John has totally eaten a bunch of dragon hearts on Xanadu. That's how he survived.

Thinking about it, there's also an important distinction between then and now. Then, Kessler ate the dragon hearts out of necessity. Here, if he eats the dragon heart he'd be doing it because he wants more power.

That said, I'm personally undecided. The prize of getting the blessings of an elder wyrm is tempting, but I'm worried it might backfire on us spectacularly.

The blessing is tempting, but that's all that it is. Tempting. General or not, eating the heart flies in the face of what this victory represents, that this is teamwork and cooperation and humanity standing tall and spiting in the face of those who would claim themselves their masters.

Keeping it, either as a trophy or to use- that's definitely something I could get behind. Maybe just a little nibble? Perhaps.

But then again this is the heart of a dragon, and there's this whole dragon mythos thing about heart blood and strength and while taking a nibble could mean that the flow of power doesn't overwhelm and supplant him, it could also be one of those annoying scenarios where the power goes out of it because you broke it.

I really don't know what to vote for here.

It's the heart of a dragon. i've been convinced that eating it is a bad idea.
buuuuuut... it's the heart of a dragon. It's got to be worth something, even if we stuffed it and mounted it to show off for mad props.

God damn that was awesome. Had this playing in the background the whole time and - let me tell you - not a dry eye in the house. Dem feels, yo.

As for what to do with the heart...hmm. This was Kessler's victory in part, true, but this was also humanity's victory.

[ ] Take the heart with you and figure out some way of turning it into, like, a couple billion smoothies that you can feed to the entire human race. Because when humanity defeats its monsters it doesn't just kill them. It loots their corpse, takes their stuff and becomes all the stronger for it.

People worry too much. Eating dragon hearts is a traditional rite of dragonslayers. The most notable is Sigurd, who literally had his life saved by the knowledge and power it granted.

There is a tradeoff of personal power vs. glory. Power can be useful, especially hidden power. On the flip side, power that must be hidden is not nearly as useful. Power may also come with downsides.

Kessler just rejected a glorious death in favor of an inglorious life, but that doesn't mean that glory is worthless, though in this case it may not be solely positive. It may only make some people dislike him more. He'll also need to lie his ass off sanitize the story of his victory.

Kessler could also follow Sigurd's example and eat part of the heart and save the rest for later, though that may greatly lessen the heart's "mystical" value, if not its value as a trophy. It should be perfectly safe. Also a great excuse for gaining the gift of prophecy Time 2 or something of that nature.

[X] Maybe just take a bite?

For the Elsa/Jazmin vote, I'd like to remind those voting to tell her a lie:

Illiyeen (and Illiyeen-with-Operative-training i.e. Jazmin) has Entropy 1, that's what she was using to get a "gut feeling" threat assessment. Elsa has no dots in Entropy, and cannot mask herself against Entropy senses. Entropy 1 lets you know whether someone is lying to you, and moreover Jazmin has the best paradigm ever to take advantage of that.

Now, maybe you have a plan that involves letting Jazmin know that what Elsa is telling her is an outright fabrication. But if you do, it would probably be a good idea to articulate that plan, because currently that vote is for "Jazmin doesn't trust Elsa, like, at all".

How does my vote look in that light?
Just telling her the truth that we can't tell her more until sh stabilizes because she's not in the right state of mind at present.

New Concept: Soul Pacts
Here in the Umbra, you can trade your souls. In fact, your soul is often the most valuable thing you have. "But isn't it bad to trade souls?" Ha ha ha. No. As I said way back, "demon" is a political term about the kinds of spirits you don't want to deal with. Soul trading otherwise is plenty valid. Void Engineers get alien biotech or cybernetics implanted in exchange for memories and emotions and other feelings (greys are great for this), and this is okay. Iterators, especially pre-99, would often get Autocthonian-derived augmentations built into their bodies as a blessing from Friend Computer. NWO psychics would unlock great powers from trading in dreams. Syndicate executives know the power of a good contract.

Soul trading is ethically neutral. In fact, some of the rare redemption stories for widderslaintes involve the widderslainte finding a being that will take their tainted soul despite how unpalatable it is, leaving them with no inverted Avatar and the ability to carry out a normal life-although with no ability to ever use Awakened magic again. This is not to say that all forms of soul trading are accepted-the Technocracy frowns on people trading parts of their soul to gain the ability to shoot fireballs or any other obvious Reality Deviance. But subdermal nanotech armor? Deployable plasma cannons? Superhuman abilities gained from alien DNA hybridization? All generally okay (some specific aliens/spirits are considered 'demons' due to their Nephandic allegiances and obviously not ok even if in Technoparadigm).

Soul trading is risky, however, because it can often lead to unwanted consequences. Eventually if you trade enough of your soul, you start losing your magic or enlightened science. There's various competing explanations. Choristers and Hermetics believe it's because your Avatar is attached to your soul and you're tearing apart the anchor which allows your Avatar to stay there. The Technocracy believes it's because the gifts given are so powerful, so useful, and so effortless that eventually it becomes difficult to maintain the determination that Genius requires. Sufficient sphere trading will damage your ability to gain Enlightenment.

Almost anything can be bought with soul trading. Although even Sphere knowledge is possible to acquire in this fashion, these spirit-granted Spheres are expensive, require a powerful spirit, and have special rules. More commonly magi acquire spirit charms, especially because by being static magic many of these effects are more resistant against Paradox than sphere magic.

Someone with Primal Utility 1 or Spirit 1 can see the exact value and amount of damage to their soul. Otherwise, you will have to take an educated guess.
Is this what's happening with the dragon heart?

[X] Don't eat the heart. Keep it for something.

Whether we give it as a gift, render it down for tass, incorporate it into some really shady tech, grind it up and put it in the drinking water, or shoot it with phasers so the Earthly Syndicate can keep a clear head, eating it for a powerup seems kind of weak sauce compared to the potential it holds.

[X] (0.5x) Tell her all of the truth. She's going to end up being recruited anyways.

Jazmin's current vulnerability to Evil Space Control's memetic attacks is a problem we really don't need right now. If this fails, Elsa can knock her the fuck out (it's Hollywood, a blow to the head should be nonlethal) and carry her.

On the other hand, it'd be nice if Jamelia is the one to take that first step of trust by admitting that she knows everything.
