If we preserve the republic ideals so that in the future there is a peaceful and slow transition towards a more democratic type of government when Europe isn't in a hateboner to get us, then I'm happy, it doesn't even have to be in our lifetime. I mean, we are an Empire because we need stability, not because we wanted an Empire, even Napoleon only went empire when it became clear that Europe was not ready for a Republic.

If that happens history will butterfly out of proportions, just imagine continuos empire across Spanish former colonies, if that thing survives, reforms properly and industrializes i fear that America won't be so blessed on the south anymore.
We may laugh now, but when Holy Spanish Empire attacks us in their Mecha's to reclaim their homeland we won't be so happy.

I mean, considering in the end we weren't so much allies as we were using each other, it's not a big loss if Parsha bites it. If we are lucky we might be able to eventually make use of the maps we got before they become outdated, and if we're even more lucky do so with an internal conflict distracting them, but eh.
