SO I'm beginning the potential reorginization or taking over turn...

And let me say... Damn Nappy, you and Brian really need to just shut up and get to work already. :V

I'm currently creating the main canon leaders of the polish legion and If Nappy and Thérèse don't mess up in liberating Poland and recreating its government we might get two Polish marshalls.

Um... Our objectives may not be for the liberation of Poland.

That can change though.
yeah, the war has barely started, what we want to happen when terms are dealt out can be hashed out later.

A free and strong Poland is both a natural buffer for France and it's continental ambitions from the russian bear, and it weakens Prussia and a counter weight to Austria. So while the idea may not be floating in the heads of our leaders, it would not be impossible for them to arrive at the conclusion.

Preparing for War
Preparing for War:

You were not happy with the current situation that was now diplomatically unfolding, and you knew damn well that things were going to get worse before it would get better.

"I'm going to reform the Corps and come with you." You stated almost immediately as you and Napoleon were left alone. "I have always been a sword and shield of France, let me be it again."

It was not the most impassioned speech you had ever given, but there was always going to be room for improvement. You could always find something more… well, you were going to have plenty of ways to say it, but that was beside the point. "It will take weeks for orders to be written for the veterans to be reassigned and rejoining, and there would be also the sheer volume when time is of the essence," Napoleon replied. "And you demobilized them, their rights are clear."

"They may also be facing down a Prussian Army, or march through Italy to save the Austrians." You muttered.

Reading the Room:D100 => 92+2=94

You then realized what this was about. At least partially. "Napoleon, what is troubling you?"

There was a deep sigh, but then he just seemed… quiet. There was something on his mind that you could not entirely see. But there was something wrong. Even with a furrowed brow and his hands hiding behind his back, you could see the twiddling of his fingers and the scratching of his thumbs. There was nothing more than a strangeness that you could see.

Doubt. A rare thing for Napoleon, at any time. But now, on the eve of marching away to war to defend France and the Revolution. Risking his life, when you both have done the same.

"I'm asking you to remain in Paris." He stated. "You've done enough for this war, and for France itself."

That made you feel utterly gobsmacked. As if he was calling into question your record, the fact he doubted you, even for a moment, to ask you to stay is something that was nearly unheard of. You went to Spain. You served him Abley. And you damn well deserved an explanation. "Why?"

There was venom in your voice. In a tone, you believed that Napoleon had not expected.

Napoleon seemed to pace, he was trying to think of his words, carefully and deliberately. Clearly, he must have miscalculated, and you could see his mind work to modify that. "Perhaps you do not understand why I ask?"

"Yes, I don't." You replied as you took a breath before looking at the chair and then at him, and you both went to take a seat. There was no reason to make things too unfair. He would know what he had done. "So Enlighten me?"

You could see his lips whisper a word, then he joined, sitting across the desk. "Politics." The answer was clearly vague.

"Politics?" You asked.

"Despite all the great changes in the world that have occurred in these many years, there are laws and traditions that still dictate how the world works." He said, you could see his mind beginning to change with words that he clearly did not want to say.

Or was happy to say it because relief was welling inside of him to work for his own needs here. "I need you here to help the children. And to do some work for me involving the future of France."

That earned an eyebrow raise. "I am not some maid or, a political tool that will not be used for your own benefit, despite this arrangement we find ourselves in. I am your equal-"

Napoleon did nothing more but raise his hand, and quietly lower it, as he got your attention. "And that is why I believe it is prudent that you remain in France. You are the wealthiest woman in it, and besides that fact, the only one who seems to realize the potential of the industry that you have made on the Rhine. And how it can affect France as a whole and her warfighting capabilities." He leaned in. "I need that, because this will not be the last war, nor will it be the Great War that we may believe will come. It will come later, and France needs to be prepared. And you are the only one who can do it. That I trust."

"Than what?" You asked. "You are relegating me to a position that I will not and am not, suited for."

You were frustrated, but only because he was right. "It could be worse."

Napoleon nodded. "Can I ask that of you?"

You than began to think.

What would you do:
[]Accept: You will do what he asks.
[]Decline: You know what you're job is. You will ask for a command.

A Statement before you all vote, and so that things can be explained.

Since this war happened quickly, we're... gonna have to piggyback on one of the other Corps, and one of the other fronts where we are possibly needed most.

If we choose to run off to war.

If we Stay in Paris, you'll see.

[X]Accept: You will do what he asks

Remember men. War fought with starving or wars fought with empty guns are bound to lose against an fully industrialized powerhouse that will churn out guns to inexperienced millions of troops.

[X]Accept: You will do what he asks

[X]Decline: You know what you're job is. You will ask for a command.

UGH I want battles and stuff, but we won't even have our corps and I don't really want to piggyback another Marshal's corp.

We should make Napoleon promise to us to let us fight in the next big Kerfuffle.

[X]Decline: You know what you're job is. You will ask for a command.
We did a whole revolution precisely to reject the dogma of the old world order, we shouldn't start going back to that when the monarchies of Europe are already working to destroy us.

It's important that France continues to industrialize, as it is Therese and a few of her subordinates and friends driving the process. Being able to leverage that industry for wartime use will be crucial in future Coalition wars against us, and almost all of France's heavy industry and arms industries are near the Rhine, protected for now, but any invasion of France would see them quickly overrun. Also, being able to follow the perspective of one of the other Marshals for the war would be amazing to see.

[X]Accept: You will do what he asks.

Since the most certain way to stop coalition wars will be out of our hand for a very long time at best (so long as there is one european country that desires to return the European continent to the state it once was before the French Revolution, France will know no peace; while us triumphing agaist this coalition is likely going to make Russia think twice about attacking France, Britain will still scheme against us until we can manage to get a naval invasion going against them), our second best option is to be prepared to fight many wars, therefore we will need to see that the endeavours we've taken in France bear fruit, therefore we will have to stay home for this situation.

[X]Accept: You will do what he asks

As much as I want to get Therese back on the battlefield, we do need to improve France's industrial capability to make ourselves self-sufficient and able to support our forces.

We need to take care of the Logistics. As in ensure that everything the armies need is sent to them. The best way to organise this is to be at the head of the State.

We should also organise Hospitals for the wounded.

"I am not some maid or, a political tool that will not be used for your own benefit

Extra comma after the or.

Anyways. Nice update.

[X]Accept: You will do what he asks

I really want to fight some battles, but Napoleon's right. We need to take care of logistics and the economy of France if we're going to survive the next 40 years. An army only marches on it stomach, and a nation only survives on its economy.

I also think despite our victories and feats in both planning and logistics, we are really only a middle of the rank marshal based on stats and achievements. We have a good war plan, and we are sending the best marshals to the front. They don't need us for this fight, especially since our Corps is not coming and is recovering from the Spanish War. We are a good marshal for policing actions, amphibious assaults (not going to happen unless we go to Egypt or invade Britain), and defending a region very well, but we have a lot less experience compared to the higher-skilled marshals like lannes and davout in conventional field battles. Therese despite her skill in some areas, has been coasting off quester hindsight and luck.
I would call Therese a good staff marshal and an okay field marshal when on conventional field battles (i see no amphibious invasions here when the fighting is in central europe).

I really want Therese to be good as a battlefield commander as davout or at least Massena, but this probably won't happen now that she is regulated to a home-front position for what is most likely the near future. I will say that Therese might become a better state manager/logistics manager than Berthier depending how we roll.

On the meta side, we can potentially get rifle weapons and other innovations standardized 70 years early across the army for the wars after this one, which (may or may not start an arms race) will really increase the deadliness of the French army to standards set by the American Civil War. After all, we got prosthetics way earlier than should be realistic if im going to be honest, maybe we can get prosthetics, rifled muskets, and rifled cannon production on an industrial scale as well.

As Napoleon and other posters said, France will be in a perpetual state of war with only a few months to a few short years between each conflict. Therese needs to shore up France long-term with effects that will last till the next century.

i will say though, that this quest might turn into a state-building quest rather than a military one, if France itself remains unthreatened. Not bad, but just a major shift in the focus.
