In the Mind of a Green Sun Prince (Exalted/Nasuverse)

Hey I LIKE SMAs, and I'd be one of the first to admit that they're pretty badly written stuff that don't get to see play to begin with.

Figured that, similar beings would also trigger it.

No, because theres nothing similar there at all. Not one single bit.

The Primordials/Yozi are beings that formed themselves from nothingness/chaos of the wyld. They are more geographical features and so on rather than actual walking persons (massive city bigger than the entirety of creation, a desert that literally stretches to infinity, a wind that dampens sound and kills to teach you to let go of attachment, a swamp that devours everything, even conceptual things, etc). They each generally also have dozens of godlike sentient souls of absurd power, who each in turn have 7 extremely powerfull sentient souls too (and it is all of them together what fully forms the primordial). And even these souls of souls of yozi still easily create entire permanent SPECIES at will for whatever reason. And many of those species easily outnumber humanity.

Shirou is a single mortal mage that can, for a brief time before he runs out of gas, drag you into a world in his soul (or manifest it over the world? Somesuch anyway).

Shirou is cool and all, but he is not a primordial and no one in exalted will ever confuse him with one, no matter how much he spams his RM. And really, I think thats just ok. I don't think that takes away from the feat at all. Shirou does not have to exist on the level of immortal multisouled eldritch abominations born from chaos that crafted the world, to be a powerfull guy with an interesting part to play in the story.

Oh, and for whats its worth since theres a clear winner:

Both Shirou and Primordials contain entire universes within their souls.
That is was talking about.

Primordials are more powerful, yes, but that world soul is definitely one of their major aspects.

Malfeas does not contain a world/universe in his soul. Malfeas IS a world/universe. Malfeas does not live in Malfeas/Demon City. Malfeas IS the City. And he is also many souls (one of which is a Fetich), and souls of souls, together. Even souls of souls of souls in a way I suppose, though the first circles are basically skin cells or somesuch and to my understanding have no actual impact unlike the 2nd circles. And his many souls (and souls of other Yozi/other Yozi, and humans and other creatures who live in the city) all inhabit the real world that he is. The whole thing is just very bizarre and alien (which makes it cool and fun).

So basically, the difference is far greater than being a question of mere power (though that alone would be more than sufficient). Shirou is a mortal human with one soul. Yozi are immortal Primordials and soul collectives and worlds/geographies/bizarre-entities, all at once, who even in death cannot truly die and simply become Neverborn. There is a vast difference in the very basic nature and structure of what they are. Merely having a reality marble does not allow Shirou to come anywhere close to approaching a primordial.

GSPs can be thought to approach this in some small way. Earthscorpions approach (his homebrew and kerisgames approach) is especially nice in my view, since it shows the vast difference that I speak of and gives life to the infernals. Primordials, and the "primordial"-exalted that are the GSPs are very very alien compared to ordinary humans or Shirou. Keris in Earthscorpions game for example is already awaking multiple other souls INSIDE her soul (which is also a world, simultaneously) to represent the soul collective that she is evolving towards. Dunno if the GM will take that view with Kiritsugu (can be a bit too hard&complex), but thats the primordial nature.

Shirou may be "odd" compared to ordinary humans due to his RM, but he is much closer to other humans than he is to the Yozi/Primordials/Heretical-GSPs.

Thats my view of it anyway. Its ok to disagree.

Hell, humans are closer to chickens then Shirou is to a Yozi.
On the cosmic scale of things (which is what one has to consider if one wants to observe Yozi at all) humans and chicken are pretty much the same. They are casual material carbon-based organic bi-gendered warm blooded two legged animals. The differences are pretty miniscule.

In order to do rolls, since I find that the SV roller is a little too clunky to properly use in combat, I've made a rolz.org Room.

That being said, attacking from Stealth when your target has no surprise negators and really high damage.

That was really quick.

[X] Suggest a few options for Kiritsugu to pursue, discuss the pros and cons between one another, and let him reach a decision.
-[X] Swiftly attack using stealth, ending it quickly before she has a chance to fight back. As a member of the Scourge Caste, he can make completely mask all sounds he makes - footsteps, breathing, gunfire, anything really. He can even extend that to a few yards past himself if he's willing to pay extra Essence for it. He could take her out from the distance, either using lethal ammunition to kill her or using strong tranquilizers to knock her out if he would prefer to capture her instead.
-[X] Attempt to manipulate her. Take the form and apparent magical traits of an Einzbern the target would obey and simply go up to her to give her an order that would ensure she would be gone and out of contact for long enough for him to assume her form and use it to infiltrate the castle. If it wouldn't make sense to actually be someone higher up, assuming the form of someone lesser and passing on a letter from someone like that using his skills at forgery might work, under the pretense that the mission would be secret and couldn't have been ordered inside the castle.

"If I may make a few suggestions?"

"Of course." Kiritsugu removes the barrel from his sniper rifle, and produces a rod with a cloth on it, soaked in some cleaning fluid. He starts to meticulously clean the barrel, occasionally removing the rod and peering down the barrel.

"You have a few choices to get Kristanna out of the way. As a member of the Scourge Caste, you are able to completely mask all sounds you make. Footsteps, breathing, gunfire, anything. You can even extend that effect for a few yards past yourself. Take her out from a distance with an almost completely silent shot, either using lethal ammunition, or a strong tranquilizer if you want to knock her out." You say.

Kiritsugu puts the barrel down, and moves to the Contender. "I get the feeling that you don't like that idea."

You shrug. "Silence makes me uncomfortable."

He doesn't say anything, and simply focuses on the gun.

"The other option is the disguise. Make yourself look like an Einzbern, either a lower tier Homunculus or one of their Masters, give her an order to go somewhere else, or forge a letter to pass on from one of the Master Einzbern. Give her the pretense that the order is a secret and couldn't be given inside the castle."

Kiritsugu shakes his head. "That won't work. When an Einzbern wants to remotely pass along a message, they'll record their voice and transmit it with their wire familiars. In addition, the Einzbern never leave the castle without a few Homunculi bodyguards. Only Heinrich has no Homunculus bodyguards, and he left the family to go study with Atlas."

"Forgive me for bring up bad memories, but you could be Irisviel."

He stops.

"Even though your wife was a Homunculus herself, she was still higher in standing than all the other Homunculi. She could give orders to Kristanna, and her not being with-"

"No." Kiritsugu interrupts.

"I'm sorry for bringing it up."

He shakes his head. "You mean well. It's alright. I'll kill her when no one is looking, and take her place. Simplest way."

A silence. "You mentioned that I was a member of the Scourge Caste. Does that mean there are other Castes? And is there a hierarchy of the Castes?"

"A Caste is the general role your type of Exaltation favors in those it selects. The Scourge Caste selects for those her prefer stealth and speed over overt force. Stereotypically, they are thieves, scouts, athletes, and assassins. The Slayer Caste are those who favor force, violence, and intimidation. They are warriors beyond par, able to master all types of combat. The Malefactor are those who favor their voices and theology. Priests, monks, kings. The Defilers are those who favor their minds. Sorcerers, doctors, historians, artificers. And the Fiend are those who favor their silver tongues. Diplomats, messengers, and politicians."

"Interesting names."

"I think the idea behind it is that if the world says they're demons, they'll call themselves too? Not quite sure. Don't bring it up around the Unquestionable though. I think they like those names."

Sure.

----|---

Kiritsugu checks the time, then triggers his Loom Snarling Deception, drawing from his larger pool of energy. His anima banner glows green and red around him, before slowly fading to non-existence.

To all mundane and magical senses, he is an ordinary mortal. Simply one more German person in a town of them. He identifies his target easily, the one white haired person in a city of those with blonde, black, and brown hair.

She's dressed in a simple fur lined coat over a dress. You can tell that the coat is large, enough to probably conceal a shortsword or small crossbow, or even a firearm if the Einzbern weren't as anti-mundane as they are. She's currently standing in front of a book store, referring to a hand written list in her hand. "Hmm.. Roderick says he wants a gun magazine? Argh. He's probably still obsessed with that horrible man. I swear, if I didn't owe him, I'd throw this in his face. Homunculi should not mess around with guns. Horrible weapons." She walks into the bookstore, and Kiritsugu moves in as well, grabbing a random non-fiction book and pretending to scan through it as Kristanna moves to talk to the clerk.

She purchases the magazine and a pack of gum, and then goes her happy way, heading to the post office, where a man is waiting for her. He hands her a large package, and she thanks him, pulling out a folded bag from her coat, and placing the package in that. She then takes a stop at a grocery store, where the clerk hands her a large box labeled with multiple different candy company names.

Kiritsugu watches her as she stops, and puts her bags down, and then pulls out the pack of gum. "Hmm! This is quite good. No wonder Helen wanted me to get her some. I should get another pack for Lady Illyasviel. She'd like it. Though I don't think the Masters would appreciate me doing that for. And she is a little young to start hiding things from them." She swallows, and then starts to choke on the gum. She spits it out. "Urgh! Nevermind. That is horrible. Who would make something that can't be swallowed-Urk!"

Her ruminations on the horribleness of gum are ended as a field of silence falls over the two, and Kiritsugu's Thompson sends a mundane bullet into her back.

She staggers forward, and then gives a silent cry as she turns around, her eyes widening as she sees simply a normal man holding an alarmingly familiar gun. She lunges forward, going for Kiritsugu's throat. Kiritsugu sidesteps her, and with one movement reloads his gun and brings it to Kristanna's head.

A single pull, and the Homunculus is dead. Kiritsugu's shadow falls from him, and he drags the woman's body into an alley, and divests her of the coat, and the axe she had hidden in her coat. He then places her in a convenient dumpster. She'd only stay hidden for a day or so, maybe less if he was unlucky. He grabs the coat and axe, hiding the weapon as his shadow rears up and consumes him, leaving him the twin of the woman he murdered.

He picks up the bags, and starts heading towards the Einzbern Castle.

Or well, not the Castle itself, but Kristanna's car, parked in a nearby parking lot. It's locked, but a quick check of the coat pockets reveals a set of car keys that look almost as old as the antique designer car in front of you. Kiritsugu starts the car, and drives towards the castle, taking a small detour to load it with his weapons from the motel.

You can feel the Bounded Field passing over you and ignoring you as you pass it. It simply fails to register you as anything but the Homunculus in question. You come to the castle, and are stopped by a Homunculi dressed in armor.

"Hey Kristanna. Welcome back. Roderick wanted me to get something from you."

Kiritsugu frowns, and hands him the gun magazine. "Can you believe that Roderick would ask me to get something like this?" You think he's a little higher pitched than her normal voice, but otherwise it's pretty good.

He shrugs. "It's Roderick. He was one of that guys bodyguards when they were reinforcing the Bounded Fields. He idolizes that idiot. Anyways, I'll see you later."

How will Kiritsugu do this?
[ ] Dismiss disguise. Murder everything in your way.
[ ] Write-in.

we should see about checking up on this Roderick guy as well. if he really idolizes Kiritsugu, we might be able to get his help with this.

and if he turns on us... well, we can probably take him.

Hmm, I don't think dismissing the disguise is a good idea. Hmm, who do we know of, or can think of, that could plausibly take control over a homunculus?

[X] You advise Kiritsugu that, even if he kills everyone present, it is possible that Einzberns have contingencies in case of their total annihilations, ways to reach their assailants from beyond the grave. As such, it is better not to show his true face around the castle.
--[X] If he knows of any faction or being in the world that he both dislikes and thinks could conceivable take control over an Einzbern homunculi, he could place blame on them - alter his disguise to give away "subtle" clues of control, such as, perhaps, a recognizable brand partially hidden by clothes
--[X] Preserving only Ilya's life would clearly show any investigators what his target was. Perhaps he should knock out and then take with him at least one more homunculi (a male one) and a human? Some books could be taken too. If needed they can be disposed of later, outside of undoubtedly monitored territory.

I think we should fake Ilya's death. Regardless of if we kill everybody or not.

I think we should fake Ilya's death if we don't kill everybody.
Good idea

Hmm, what else can we do to divert attention (I'll be updating the vote in new posts as I think of new things, it'll probably balloon, and it's definitely open to criticism and revision)

----[X] If he can, and is willing to, he could try faking murdering his daughter. If he "spares" and "kidnaps" some other Einzbern, one not connected to Kiritsugu Emiya in any strong way, it would add a further level of deception to the scheme
--[X] If he kills some particular members of Einzbern family with particular brutality, perhaps going as far as to mutilate their bodies, it might point any investigators towards a revenge motivation in their search for the culprit
--[X] Whatever he does, he should create a unified narrative, instead of throwing multiple equally strong contradictory leads. If he chooses a faction that "subverted" Kristanna, then "kidnapped" Einzbern should be of at least some interest to that faction, and the brutally killed one shouldn't be in their good graces. Throwing a couple of false "false traces", ones meant to be discovered as false is ok, though, he just shouldn't make them too strong.

What else? We could try suggesting a particular motive and/or faction to blame, but the only ones I can think of is house El-Melloi, as a revenge of Kiritsugu (brutalize "Ilya's" body, kidnap a female for breeding, all in revenge for the war), but I don't want to do this to Waver.

As a side note, i want to suggest that we use ES mote reactor hack, because stunt based mote regen doesn't make sense in quest format. And it makes much more difficult to keep track of the mote pools.

(And is works better in general anyway)
