In the Mind of a Green Sun Prince (Exalted/Nasuverse)

"So yeah. That undead dude you were fighting? Not dead. Saw him crawl out of there. I can give you the ability to get him back for what he did. Whadda ya say?"
------|------

"Dio!"

"Jojo!"

Speedwagon could only watch in helpless awe as he watched the two battle. On one side was Dio, his vampiric powers allowing him to freeze those he touched. On the other was Jojo, Green fire blazing around his fists, a relic of that encounter with the Red Ape. They were evenly matched, and neither could get a hit in.

He knew that the strangeness of Jojo could not be spread like Dio's vampiric powers. Indeed, besides the physical, Johnathan had been unchanged in personality and compassion. But Dio... Dio was a despicable man, and his vampirism enhanced it, and gave him the ability to spread his curse to those he wished. Dio was too dangerous.

Speedwagon took a breath, and felt the golden lightning ripple around his hands. He was scared. But he knew what he had to do. He would not fail Master Zeppeli.

"Sunlight Overdrive!" And so, Speedwagon joined the battle.
I want it. I want it. I want it. I want it. I want it. I want it. I want it. I want it. I want it. I want it. I want it.

Do Infernals have any Perfect Attacks that can be used on ranged attacks?
Making an attack undodgeable, unblockable, and expanded range would make it kill almost anyone who wasn't a Servant with a single hit.

Perfect for an assassin like Kiritsugu.

Can't find any in the Infernal Manual. might be some online, either in the ink-monkey stuff, or some of Revlid or ES's homebrew, but I wouldn't know where to look to check...

Surprised Infernals don't have Perfect Attacks.
He's probably going to be wishing he had Solar Archery.

Maybe get an Artifact in the form of a gun that grants similar abilities?

Also, good charm to get would be Threat Monitoring Excitement, which is an Infernal surprise negator.

So, I wonder how freaked out we (the spirit) will be when we learn about the Root. Also Origins and Reality Marbles. Because those are not things that exalted humans have. Like, at all. In fact, I would say that those are things exalted Primordials have. Well, origins are something that gods have, but reality marbles seem to be more primordial to me.

TYPEs are also going to be an interesting discussion.

Also, a question: can someone teleport out of the endless desert? Or is someone trapped in there for five days regardless? Because I am wondering what would happen if Avalon was invoked there.

Yeah, I was surprised too. only thing I could find in the corebook was a melee range perfect defense/perfect counterattack hybrid.

Nope. five days, whether you sit on your ass most of the time or walk non-stop in one direction without sleep. teleports are a no as well.

Origins are basically a human's most basic motivation, a single concept that their entire personality is based around. thing is, unless you get your origin awakened, its just a personality description that you can use to boost your magic a little. everyone has one, but they're not at all weird or unnatural until someone starts poking around in your soul to turn you into a perfect example of whatever concept.

Ok, wiki isn't the most reliable of sources, but still, there origin is described as
the orientation at the time that an event occurred. It is the starting point that defines one's existence and directs one's actions throughout life. It is the driving force from the inside of Akasha that managed to stream out of the Source and take material form.

And while not manifesting normally, the metaphysical concept behind it should pretty much freak us out, I think.

their being flowery about it, but the basics is that souls get recycled in Akasha, and origin is a basic inclination to take certain actions based on a concept imprinted on your soul at birth.

Mages who know what their own origin is can use it to add/increase related effects to their spells.

An Awakened Origin, on the other hand, is what happens when someone has their soul messed with to bring them perfectly in line with their origin. this makes their origin obvious and impossible to resist, but massively increases a mages ability to use their origin in their magecraft.

[X] Recommend he work on a skill:
-[X] Larceny, Increase Essence, Eldritch Secrets Mastery
[X] "Why don't you take the appearance of someone who lives in the castle? There is an improvement to Loom-Snarling Deception that lets you assume the characteristics of any being. Wait until the ideal target is out, capture it, copy its appearance and then go back to the castle."

"Well, there's a good way to make sure Loom Snarling Deception, your shadow power disguise, works!"

"How?"

You frown. This is going to sound kinda weird to him. "Well, you have to work on your mundane larcenous skills."

"What?"

Yeah, it sounds weird within the context of what he knows.

"Well, the disguises completely ignores mortal attempts to pierce it. But it draws on your own skills at disguise and thievery to defeat magical attempts to pierce it. It's a sympathy thing, but it applies to most of your new skills. By being good at a mundane thing, it enhances your ability to do magic related to that mundane thing."

He ponders on this. "So if I become a better fighter..."

"Magic related to combat will get stronger." You complete.

"And being good at disguising myself will assist in disguising myself magically." He says.

"Not just disguising yourself. You're skills... well it's hard to explain, but it's part of the peerless excellence part of the package. Getting better pickpocketing, for example, has been folded into a general Larceny skill, and by simply working at one, you can get better at all skills that fall under Larceny. Such as disguise! In addition, since it's an ability tied to the Scourge Caste, which is the type of Green Sun Prince you are, it should be easy for you to learn. Plus, there's an expansion to Loom-Snarling Deception. You can make the disguise able to fool magical attempts at finding how strong you are or even what you are. You could make them think you're a completely normal human with it, or fool them into thinking you're actually a homunculus. So all you have to do is take the appearance of someone who lives in the castle, wait until they leave, capture or kill them, and then take their place!"

He nods, and gets on his coat. "I'll start working on that once I've checked on the boy, then."

He heads out of his house, towards the hospital. It's a short walk, but you can't help but notice that there are more than a few lawkeepers out on the streets, in addition to the black suited Yakuza men who seem to be out in equal force. Only the Yakuza watch Kiritsugu, most likely recognizing the friend of their boss.

As compared to the tense and sullen streets, the Hospital is a riot of noise. Nurse's are hurrying back and forth, while concerned people try to get their attention and ask about about family members and friends.

Kiritsugu approaches the front desk, and waits patiently for the receptionist to finish arguing about costs with some concerned woman.

The poor receptionist manages to get the woman to calm down, and turns to Kiritsugu. "Yes?"

"I was wondering if you knew where the children who were taken from the blaze were." You notice that Kiritsugu is tearing up, though you can't feel any sadness from him. "I just managed to get back from my trip, and my- my-" He takes a second to wipe his eyes.

The receptionist looks at him with pitying eyes, and gives him the directions, and he thanks her.

He comes into a room with several children with bandages, and at the end of the row is one child looking out the window. The red headed kid from before. He looks fine. No signs of burns, his eyes are curious. He stops the nurse standing at the door. "Who is that child?"

She shakes her head. "We think his parents died in the fire. He doesn't remember much save for his name. Other than that, he's fine physically. Poor kid. Lucky enough to survive, but no family to survive with him."

"What's his name?" Kiritsugu asks.

"Shirou."

------|------

Shirou looked to the entrance of the room. Their was a man there. Black hair that looked like it was moving, a black coat. He was talking to the nurse. There was something familiar about him.

The man did a small bow to the nurse, and turned around. He had a sullen look to him, and his face had a small amount of stubble. The man approached his bed, and for a second Shirou thought that one of his forgotten relatives had found him.

But no, the man didn't have an inch of familiarity... he did! That smile he had seen. The first thing he remembered. The man wasn't smiling now, but Shirou could tell that it was the same person.

"Hello. You must be Shirou." He leaned forward. "I'll come right out and ask you what you'd prefer. Being sent off to an orphanage, or being taken in by a man you just met."

Shirou knew the answer to that question already, but he also knew that adults liked it when kids thought on things. So he squinted at the man suspiciously, and then closed his eyes and took a breath. And then he pointed at the man.

The man smiled slightly. It wasn't the same type, but it was still close enough. "I'm glad. Then lets get you out of here right away." He knelt down, and retrieved the clothes Shirou had been wearing from under the bed. "You'll need to get used to your new home as soon as possible."

He pauses. "Theirs something I have to tell you. I can do magic."

------|------

"You told him? Why?"

"He would learn about it anyways. And besides, who but a child would believe me?"

"Fine."

Kiritsugu approaches the nurse. "Excuse me, I'd like to adopt Shirou."

The Nurse blinks. "Are you sure? Well, you'll have to fill out all the appropriate documents." She looks through her clipboard, and withdraws a few papers. "Here."

Kiritsugu looks upon the forms, and starts filling them out, sitting in an empty chair. Shirou sits next to him, having gotten dressed, waiting patiently for him to finish. He hands the forms to the nurse, and she takes them.

He frowns. "Can't just use Magecraft to do it anymore." He takes out his phone, and makes a call.

"Fujimura. Can I ask you to do me two more favors?"

"Sure sure. You'll owe me one though. I'll need your security expertise later." You mentally applaud Fujimura. The best person to ask on how to prevent an assassin or a thief is an assassin or thief.

"Alright. I just filed some adoption papers for a boy named Shirou. Can you fast track them?"

"I can. What else?"

"I left my daughter in Germany with her mother's family. I'll need you to watch him whilst I'm gone."

Shirou shoots him a confused look.

"I see. When will you leave?"

"Two weeks."

"Alright. I'll have Taiga and some of the boys keep an eye on him."

"Thank you." Kiritsugu hangs up.

In the end, it only takes a few hours for the adoption papers to go through, rather than the few weeks it'd take normally. Kiritsugu and Shirou spend the time talking with each other, as Shirou tries to learn everything about Kiritsugu's magic, and Kiritsugu gives him vague answers.

Eventually, the two are allowed to leave, and Kiritsugu picks Shirou up, and puts him on his shoulders, them begins running home.

The first three days are hectic, as Kiritsugu takes Shirou on a shopping spree to purchase all he needs. Clothing, tooth brush, bedding, food, and toys (Though Shirou seems rather disinterested in those.)

Soon enough, the two are settled, and repairs on the house begin in earnest, Kiritsugu begins the next stage. As training, and to help Fujimura, Kiritsugu breaks into the Fujimura household. Dodging guards and cameras, he traces a soundless path towards Fujimura's room, waking the old man up when he reaches his bedroom. He goes over how he got in, and shows the old man how he dodged the cameras and avoided the attention of the guards.

"You are trying to make me paranoid, it seems." He says that night.

"The most paranoid of men are the most dangerous of men." Kiritsugu replies.

Stealth and Larceny Upgraded to 5

Then comes the meditation. Shirou watches him in it, as he dwells on the core of Essence that lay within his soul now. As he meditates, the wind in the room picks up. The candles Kiritsugu placed at Shirou's insistence burn green, and the shadows lengthen. Kiritsugu's Caste Mark blazes, and Shirou gets his first glimpse of magic.

Essence Rating increased to 3

"How'd you do that?" The kid loves it.

Kiritsugu smiles. "It's an innate ability of mine. Not a spell I can teach. But... I still remember how to teach a little Magecraft. I can't use it myself, but I can teach. After I return from my trip."

Shirou sulks a little, but leaves you be.

And so, Kiritsugu is ready for the final part. He practices his Loom Snarling Deception, willing it to cover magical senses as well. And then, on the 6th day, it clicks.

You play an appreciative tune for him. "Do you see yourself as ready?"

He shakes his head. "Not truly. But I'll never consider myself completely ready. Still, I believe that I have a good chance of succeeding now."

He pauses. "You know, I never thanked you."

"For what?"

"For giving me this chance. I would not have been able to do it on my own. Thank you."

Well? What do you say?

It works once you're past the planned part(or something goes wrong) and onto the "YOLO LETS WING IT" part though.

Adorjan's excellency works pretty good when you have a mortal-good plan and then have to improvise to get out of the clusterfuck.

Hmm. Not sure if going "thank the Yozi" is the best approach? The simple truth is that the Yozi as they currently exist are not the nicest of people, and when Kiritsugu fully realises that, he will probably go renegade.

Having him care about us and like us when that day comes, rather than viewing us as just a chain the Yozi implanted in him and something to be gotten rid of as soon as possible would be nice.

Hmm.

Adorjan: The Silent Wind is restless, always in motion and never satisfied. She expresses the inevitability that bad things happen regardless of who you are or how many backup plans you have. She is catastrophe and calamity, the unconsidered variable that shreds the best-laid plans of Yozi and Exalt alike. She kills because it is her nature to hurt everything she touches, not because she revels in suffering. More than any of her siblings, Adorjan is insane and encompasses contradictions. Adorjan scours her enemies, breaking them to enlighten them, even if the lesson proves fatal. Her actions display vicious whimsy, especially toward the complacent and comfortable. She loves purposeful chaos that exposes the flaws in systems and lays low the proud, but she abhors chaos for the sake of chaos as much as she abhors stasis. She is a balancing force of wickedness against the excesses of the righteous. Her depredations inspire heroes to reach their full potential through the crucible of tragedy, invariably ruining their lives in the process. Greatness is the worst curse her touch imparts. She inflicts more pain on those she loves than those she hates. No one expects her. She refuses to be understood and torments those who try.

This Charm can enhance any action that causes unexpected or sudden harm, such as surprise attacks or attacks that are part of flurries. Actions that create ongoing discomfort or take away sources of comfort also fall under the purview of the Silent Wind. Socially, her attacks tear away Intimacies rather than building them, teaching people to let go of attachments and worries rather than continue meaningless cycles of love or vengeance. The behaviors she compels are mad and invariably disturbing, but she does not care how the minds of others break. Adorjan's power may be applied to any actions that help tear down structured society or spread anarchy, regardless of the reasons or methods for doing so. The Charm can't assist actions that are planned in great detail in advance, though it is permissible to do something whose consequences will not manifest until a later time. Actions motivated by insanity may only benefit from Adorjan's touch when there is some greater and immediate purpose behind them (even if the meaning isn't communicated to other characters). The Silent Wind embodies the madness of the freed mind, not an idiot's babbling.

Carefull planning does not fall under Adorjans excellency. Creating Anarcy does though, and wiping out the Einzbern will probably cause that. However we probably won't be able to use the excellency NOW when making a plan, but we can draw on it to make things go better when we actually execute the attack.

In truth, we might want to consider getting another excellency that suits us better. She Who Lives In Her Name for example is all about making methodical and carefull plans, which would probably suit Kiritsugu better. And Ebon Dragon is all about being all sneaky and stealthy and deceptive.

The Malfean works great too. Remember how he shot down a plane to kill a vampire? With his mother figure in it? The only thing it does not support is stealth but that is what the Adorjan one is for.

Also we have both Malfeas and Adorjan excellencies right? It was on the Char sheet.

Malfeas excellency can't be applied if any intentional subtletly or restraint is used though. Ofcourse if our intention is to wipe out all the Einzbern down to the last person, then Malfean one will work great.

Also, don't tell me you haven't heard about the brilliant malfean stealth approach?

We can make plans with Malfeas excellency just fine. It is actual subtlety or restraint that is restricted. Planning for it is ok or so I think. Not too sure on this.

And yes I have heard of Malfeas Stealth.
