That's an annoying mistake IMO.

How do we deal with our clone potentially getting killed in front of our friends or somewhere public when him calling Ebon would've been a way to avoid that?
I believe the idea was that our clone would only be in danger because of us and anything capable of killing our clone would blow our cover anyway.
So distancing ourselves from our clone was the best option.

One thing we could do is re-task at least one Seeker to constantly keep an eye on him so that, if something like this happens again, Ebon can "happen" to show up to save the day.

Not only would we maybe save a friend's life, but we could also really put the idea that Ebon =/= Jacob in their heads, so that even if they find out about Ebon, they'll be more likely to discount any clues that might help them realize the connection.

Correct, Ebon intentionally made it so that Jacob can't contact him since he doesn't want the clone connected to him in any way.

And yes, the Seekers usually run on automatic so they were far away when a Ando and Jacob got caught in the ninja barrier. Plus Jacob can't control them.
The obvious answer is for the clone to be able to send messages to an out-of-the-way spot unconnected to Ebon, where Ebon has a minion watching for any such messages appearing. Any tracking attempts will lead to said meaningless spot.

*blinks* why am I getting the sensation that Ando's situation is suddenly harem bodyguard girls/students of his grandfather, orchestrated by said grandfather and ecchi shonen fan mother?

And then there's the question of when clone will realize that Roselyn's next on the shonen story adventure get list, either immediately followed by Christina, or delayed just enough that clone starts to settle down from high alert. Then the big shocker of Jacob being expected to take on his father's exorcism job of the past, right around the time that a shonen protagonist would be lamenting about how his friends are all 'cool' and he 'wasn't'.

That last one of course not being part of the realization of the other two. Just mute horror over being the 'normie' for individual shonen protagonist friends' own story.

... In before Jacob get's dragged into Ando's Ninja political schandefreude, so hard he facepalms, and drags/forces him to 'git gud' as his/Ebon's Intrigue Adviser in exchange of training and protection/investment, lol. :p

Once again, my brother did another art thing.

I like that, too. Aestia's face looks a little bit weird (might be the eyes that are a little too far apart), but this is good work nonetheless.
Although I noticed I was around the PMMM-Quests for too long; the first thing I noted was the missing Soul Gem.

"Domo, Hiroyuki-san. My name is Kaido of the Red Moon Clan."
"Domo, my name is Asuka.
"Domo, Asuka-san. My name is Kaido."
The way that they introduced themselves to each other seemed like some kind of strange ninja tradition.
I get that this whole plot is based off a completely different series but I can't help but think of Ninja Slayer From Animation which makes the generic "they fought and Asuka won" fight scene so fitting.

"Jacob! Your back! You - ... You looting the bodies. Why are you looting the bodies?" Ando asks expressionlessly, staring at you with distaste.

"Loot. Ninja loot. Also fine." You reply, not missing a step. Oh neat, one of those sickle chain things.
It's things like this that really make me like Jacob as a character. His, or rather his clone but same difference, first response to a bunch of dead ninja is "Loot. No wait, even better; ninja loot!"

So, from this fight, we can guess a few things:
Combat proficiency
Ando (for now...) < Ninja Lackey < Shadow!Jacob < Kaido =< Asuka << Ebon Lord (because he's awesomer than everyone else, period)
"Guh!" Suddenly, you feel several objects pierce your back. Fuck, you got distracted. The wounds are shallow though. However, you find yourself surrounded by more enemy ninjas. How the hell did they get pass your energy sense!?
Can Shadow!Jacob be poisoned normally? If so, does his... unusual biology help him out? (like converting his magic power to life essence?)
Phantom Seekers have greater energy sense than Shadow!Jacob, right?
You thought it was Kaido but it was really the log. Holy shit, the log is a real thing?!
I am confused. Did Kaido swap with a log, then the log turned out to be a transformed Kaido?
Overall though I do enjoy this style of combat description.
It's always a chore to follow a complex choreography. With fewer, simpler points it's easier to use your imagination.
You leave them alone for the moment and look around at the clearing. A good deal of ninja weapons is now just lying around, next to or in bodies. You shrug your shoulders and begin looting the bodies.

"Jacob! Your back! You - ... You looting the bodies. Why are you looting the bodies?" Ando asks expressionlessly, staring at you with distaste.

"Loot. Ninja loot. Also fine." You reply, not missing a step. Oh neat, one of those sickle chain things.
Jacob, a true gamer. *single proud tear*
We are gaining a suspicion level though. We are too cool for this school.
Any plausible explanations, semi-true backgrounds?
We really need to seek out our magical family roots, so we can get at least that excuse.
...Something bothers me- are we a random dude contacted by an eldricht entity, or are we at least slightly special dude, surrounded by people with grand fates? (do we have any magical family heritage that we didn't know of)
Of course we do. Forget I asked.
Unless there's more to it than "rag-tag family of supernaturals", like we have a ye olde Grand Family lineage or something.
Having obtained the ability to perceive the life energy, magic power, and emotional energy within people, you are surprise to see that the energy pools in your friends are out of the norm for the average person. Ando's life energy is incredibly dense, something that could only happen if he had a ridiculous amount of it. Roselyn's magic power is big, bigger than yours by a significant amount. Christina's Positive emotional energy pretty much eclipses her negative emotional energy.
There are three main factions we know little to nothing about:
-Ninjas - confirmed association with Ando
-Mages - most likely Roselyn
-Exorcists - with all that positivity, Christina is the perfect candidate
Magical girls are probably tied to our mother and sister, maybe also brother?
... I'm pretty sure I've seen this plot in a manga a few years ago.
Care to provide name of the manga?

So I've been reading this for a while and I like it a lot. Pretty funny and lots of potential for many different things.

Now that I said that, I just wanna throw my opinion on what should be done later. First is to spend time with count cuddles. No, seriously, I justs wanna have a fluffy fluff time with them.
But if somebody wants more proactive stuff, I sort of like the idea or joke idea of making a golem/toy store, if only becuase I feel that will make it so that we don't have to remain hidden all the time while we are going around as Ebon. But if we do that then we should change our disguise to something that gives less of an "classic edgy villain" first impression. Also I like the idea of hiring our father to work as our manager in our store or the like for funny shenanigans.

I noticed that the title changed from "Magical Girl Villain Quest" to "Anime Villain Quest". Either it was originally planned to be misleading, or the premise has been altered.

I really whant dark/ebon magical girl
Its to the point i realley might make my first omake

I know what you mean; the problem is that we need someone trustworthy for the job, not just the first girl that agrees or, goodness forbid, the very first girl we see crossing the street.
Though...

[J] Offer Asuka to make her a Magical Girl
-[J] There is no way giving the kunoichi access to magic can go wrong

Just remember guys. we want to absorb the wishing star and gain it's abilities first.

So write omake to bonus that roll.

One more thing, which irks me somewhat on a worldbuilding level:
Are there any groups focused on organized crime in this city, mixed with the supernatural network?
As in, something like a 'normal' gang led by a disgraced vampire, dealing with selling artifacts and trafficking succubi, or owning the underground fight ring?
Heck, how about casinos?
Since we have magic, some of it is bound to be of divinatory/illusionary kind. Perfect for a game of poker. And for that you need special sort of dealers and security staff.

I actually made an Omake about that, but thankfully it died an accidental death (too self-inserty and non-canony, better just talk about it).

Just saying- magic is power, influence and lots of cash. Who wouldn't like a slice of that pie?
And while we've seen the biggest bakeries, that doesn't mean there's not a sweet pastry stand around the corner... No, I don't know where this metaphor went. Maybe it went to a cafe...
Anyway. Unless the gangs/mafia are too weak to influence anything (and they very well could be too divided for even entering the scene), someone making a simple profit from all that seems likely.
I mean- would you really trust Fed-Ex to deliver your super precious gems from this shady guy without a wild pack of Shadow Magpies stealing them?
Unless it's all detail trade, of course- no point in sending a truck full of sulfur if the only demonologist is living in his mother's basement.

Which brings me further into this rant- how about big businesses?
Does the Company have ties to business world? How many MGs wished for great fortunes, or to own a business? How many of those still work for Company?
Are there businesses selling slightly enchanted products of everyday use? Or maybe products for supernaturals?
An enchanted brush for your magical cloak. Or a producer of high-grade kunai and shurikens?
Or maybe a high-level diviner dominating the stock market?

Okay, it was a wild, half-crazy rant. Still, hopefully parts of it are useful or at least topical.
But just for future:
-Are there any black markets for magical goods? (we are villains, after all- good to have proper sources of evilness)
-Have we checked our father's company? If he's magic, then that could be a lead.
-Could we ask Atticus about other honest product providers?
Of course I don't mean competition- more stuff like alchemical ingredients or mystical bookshops.
-MGs and business- does Company use it's wishes for more mundane improvements? (one wish could solve any issues with mundane weaponry, for example)
-Ghostbusters/Exorcists- they are employed by government. Government knows about magic. It may very well be on side of Light!
It'll be very bad to be caught off guard by mystical SWAT-team knocking down your door, cause yer a villain.
Also other military contractors- they employ Ghostbusters, so who knows- maybe there are men in black too! All those forces need proper equipment...
-We will eventually want to make some big moves. That means we'll need to conceal those moves.
A normal-company front would be perfect for selling those Ebon Plushies. :p
Heck, multiple companies could allow putting blame on one another, thus dividing suspicion between them.
Also a perfectly normal secretary as our Stewardship advisor!

EDIT: Since I mentioned merchandise..
How about making Ebon Girls very, very popular? Like, celebrity popular.
Saving kids and stopping roberies? After all, they can use magic all willy nilly without corruption!
That's gotta give us some influence and PR.
Also we'll get Aestia dakimuras!

You actually bring up a very good point there. @shibosho can you confirm this because I think that this will make some very good world building.

Can the clone train or gain new powers by himself?
If not how can we upgrade him.
We can upgrade it by devising a better clone creation spell. These things are just our avatars; they're us, not a new person, and them becoming their own separate person defeats the point of their existence in the first place.

But if they do become their own people, I'm totally petitioning to turn them into Ebon Knights, because the only thing better than a suit made entirely of Ebon Steel is a Suit made of Ebon Steel worn by a person made of Ebon Power.

@PurposefulZephyr

Again, your running into the issue of how would we know any of this? Obviously magic is in play, but we're not going to understand the extent of it into we fully integrate into the masquerade.

Because from what little we can see, the supernatural factions aren't wholly aware of each other- and there's the fact we don't know why the Ebon Emperor is making his move now of all times, are other supernatural factions only making a move now? who and when did the EE get banished by? There's a lot of questions we're going to have to go out and find the answers to on our own.

No shit the world doesn't feel fully developed because it's been made a point of that we really don't know what's going on with the world in this day and age with the reveal of the supernatural.

These questions have answers that are spoilers. I will say that Ebon hasn't really cared about looking into the organised crime side of things though, due to a combination of disinterest, supernatural criminals being pretty good at hiding, and Ebon being a teenager far more interested in exploring his powers at the moment than actual evil. He's essentially still riding the high over the discovery of the supernatural.

Also, omakes if you feel that there's things that would fit in the setting, write a omake about it. I may make it canon.

EDIT: And ninja'by Karugas who clarified the reason for lack of world building better than I did but I justify it by saying I just woke up.

EMBERS

Amber was on her way home, thinking about her life and recent events
her mother always wanted a daughter, one who would be her litte girl
to bad was more of a tomboy, always takeing things apart to see how thy work,
getting dirty and breaking things, her crowning achievement was when
she tried to hide a broken doll by putting it back togetter, it didt
go well. Amber kept had the head, it is in a shoebox under hear bed.

but it wasn't just because her hobbies but also sense of taste, she
liked dark colors and hated pink

all togetter it caused a rift between the two of them and now her mom
was dateing.

a year ago her parents got divorced, it didn't bother her one bit.
dad was always away on business trips and never home for long

but mom dateing "ewww" and some of the guy she brought home...
no it was the long way home from the libairy where she had read the glove of darth vader.

"hey" a voice from the spoke, it came from a person dressed in a black
hooded robe

"how would you like a wish..."
my first time trying this and i hate writing

Obviously we don't know much about the world yet. It's still a pretty young story, I get that.

Here lies the problem, actually.
I just feel that a topic I would like to write about is too undefined in this world.
I very well could try to write my own take on this, but...
Every time I write an Omake I worry that I just made my own separate story instead of building upon the world created here.
Outside of having this self-insert interact with known factions in a believable manner, I can't really guess what could truly 'fit' into this world.

Writing that speculation did have a purpose- make people, including the author, consider this aspect of the story.
If everyone ignores a topic, then it might as well not exist.
On the other hand, enough attention could even bring new options for us to choose, or influence how Jacob acts and considers things.
Bring enough people talking about wrestling and we might just get a luchador as a hero unit. :p

That's a far point and another question worthy of investigation.
Bolded is something especially valuable- if people think about it, they might find out more from what little we know.
Speculations and conclusions might get confirmed, Omakes might get semi or full cannon status (maybe even WoG!), furthering our understanding of this imaginary world.

To be fair, we're only 4 turns in, and we're talking a relatively slow pace considering it's only been a few weeks our character has been exploring this new aspect of reality. Unless it's a pre-established setting, there's always going to be difficulties with omakes this early on.

I'm all for speculation and hypothesizing, but even then we're still lacking a lot of information to pad out theories with yet.

I mean, it's easy to say 'there's a reason why no one recognizes Ebon Power or isn't more aware of each other' but it's hard to make a well-reasoned hypothesis with just those two statements. Did magic, in general, leave the world and is just recently returning? Well, the existence of family based magical clan structures suggests otherwise. Why didn't the forces that beat the big EE not warn people of his possible return? Was it a mutual kill?

We have enough to ask a lot of pertinent questions, we don't yet have enough for a lot of pertinent conclusions. Hopefully, we change that sooner rather than later because theorizing and speculation are my bread and butter when it comes to quests.
