I wonder if the Twilight Empire is predated by the Ebon Empire. Maybe one is emulating the other or is a splinter faction of a greater whole or some such.

Look here sir, we were here first (?). This is our lawn so get off it!!
"My family has lived in this city since ancient times! It is mine by right!"
*omnipresent rumble* AND I WAS HERE BEFORE THE PLANET FULLY FORMED. NOW BOTH OF YOU CHILDREN... SHUT UP AND LET ME SLEEP DAMNIT!!!!

(OoC, or at least that's what I would imagine the Ebon Emperor would tell the wannabe dark kingdoms when they start squabbling between each other)

I'm really looking forward to the day we get to actually summon the ebon emperor and the black kingdom into the world just to show all these wannabe dark lords how it's really done. Plus I'm really looking forward to seeing their faces.

Shibosho already posted the sequel...'ish. Ebon Tokyo - City Of the Supernatural [AGG-alike Quest] has an option where we succeeded. I kind of have to assume that despite the player base choosing something different to play, that that mention of the product of our success is the results of our hard work in this quest.

Those guys sound familiar. Based off the SB magical girl villain quest?

Yeah, though given how stereo-typical both of these Empires are it may just be a fluke.

Anyway, I'm 50-50 on crushing this force entirely or just treating them as an EP pinata to keep looting and maybe test new troop types against as they get more and more desperate.

Then again, if left alone long enough they may try to rip the masquerade to pieces in one last spiteful gasp and that just wouldn't do.

Besides, if we destroy all these pretenders it leaves the magical girls in the city at a low level of experience since they have no one to fight/grind against. Which is rather handy.

Kill the rivals and leave the forces of good weak, oblivious and untested.

Well, I must say that when I realized this was in part a crossover with (not)Madoka my initial reaction was Nope, Nope, and more Nope. But I kept reading and now I'm glad I did because this was a fun quest

I'm waiting for more

I wonder what would happen if we made a doll that looked like us, then turned it into a Golem, and then into a Greater Golem. Would we effectively get another clone (or potentially infinite clones), or would it just be a Golem that looked like us? (I must apologize for going so far off topic, the idea has just been on my mind.)

The Company is aware of the existence of Mages but due to the nature of their duties, they have a no-interference policy in place. As long as mages don't maliciously interfere with the duties of a Company Magical Girl, they will not interfere with any mage business.
Interesting question here: what will the Company think of Ebony Blaze and her moment of "HALPING!"?

Forgot to do this earlier. Just a roll to see what the Book of Ebon coughs out.
shibosho threw 1 100-faced dice. Reason: Book of Ebon Stage 1 Total: 91
91 91

Even at ten percent, that should be good, right?
Well let's see.

We'll be getting a bunch of new options for Learning and Piety. Stewardship is also getting a couple of new stuff. Oh and at end, you'll all be voting for a new advisor/hero unit. Also, you don't need to focus on money anymore, thanks to learning a new method of Ebon Power Conversion for mundane material.

Yeah, it's pretty good.

Week 7 (_.3)
Today is simply not your day.

Earlier, you detected a source of immense magical power which matched the signature of a Radiant Page. Seeking to acquire the page before anyone else, you immediately headed over to the location of the Page. Unfortunately for you, it had activated before you got there. It was here that you witnessed the power of the Radiant Page.

The page had turned some random person into a bizarre monster that wouldn't look out of place in a kid's live-action hero show. Unfortunately for several victims, whoever had the page must have had a strong desire to cut things, judging by all the shape pointy protrusions and claws on the monster's body.

Fortunately for you, you had all the guns and made quick work of the monster. While you're sure that there was a way to undo the monstrous transformation that the page caused in their host, you didn't really care so you simply mow down the former human down with a minigun as well as some explosives.

You retrieved the page just as Roselyn and her new partners, Alicia and Yoshirou, appeared on the scene to collect the page themselves.

"Hey! Give that back! It has to be sealed!" Roselyn demanded at the time.

You simply put the page away in your coat and disappeared into the shadows, leaving behind a frustrated mage, dark magical knight and bright magical girl to deal with the aftermath of your fight.

You don't know anything about this whole Radiant Witch and Grimm Knight business but you can only assume that things are going to get worse before they get better, especially considering the current state of the city.

The events of the past few days threaten to usurp the peace in Las Angeyoto. It was only thanks to the efforts of several powerful mages, the Company, and Ninja Enforcers that the mundane side of your city still remains separate from the world you are now making your mark upon. The ordinary lives of ordinary people continue to turn in peace.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the supernatural elements of your beloved city. The ninja clans are barely able to keep themselves from tearing apart the city in search of the one they call Ninja Slayer. The magical girl population outside the Company has suddenly been cut down to only a small handful of heroines. The only upside of that is the fact that whatever enemies these magical girls had in fact has also had their numbers cut down dramatically. Time seems to have gone a bit screwy for some reason and there's probably a dozen other things that threaten the peace of your city.

Worse of all, your new magical girl minion has exposed her existence to the mages of the city on her very first proper outing. It seems Renata was a bit too gung-ho about her new position in life and in demonstrating her loyalty and enthusiasm to the cause, she winded up being seen by a number of prominent mages while draining a powerful and respected mage in the city. You have gotten over the one hundred page mark in the book of Ebon but now the magical community knows that someone is out there hunting mages for their magic core.

You have a sick feeling that this is only the start of an incoming storm that will soon sweep into the city and drag you and everyone of significance into chaos and anarchy. Either that or you're being too paranoid.

One of the two.

Oh, and your shadow minion numbers continue to grow without any of your input.

It might be a good idea to check what the deal with that is.

Thanks to your new recruit's...enthusiasm, the Book of Ebon has about a hundred pages already filled. Because of this, the Book has begun to reveal a glimpse of the wealth of knowledge and power hidden within it. Spells, rituals, ancient forgotten technology and more have been revealed to you. You can only wonder what else the book will grant you once more pages have been filled.

More importantly, though, you've discovered that the way you've been converting Ebon Power into normal non-magical material is the most inefficient method the whole time. Using the new method, you only need to maintain a shell of Ebon Power in the form of whatever material you want and somehow the rest of reality will be tricked into filling up the shell for you. While you obviously can't do it for complex objects that consist of many parts, something like a high-quality gemstone or a brick of gold now hardly uses up any Ebon Power.

New Options available.

Money is no longer a problem, forever. (You made a small pile of gold bricks and left it for your forces to takes and use whenever they need to.)

3700 Ebon Power Available

...

Stewardship: Let's be honest here. After learning how to convert Ebon Power into material wealth, you have effectively unlimited funding. Money is no longer an issue for you. What does matter is your supply of Ebon Power (You really need a new name for the strange purple bluish energy that is the source of your awesome powers.) You can't just keep kidnapping people and draining them of what amounts to their soul. You need a better more efficient way of doing things. (Choose 1)

[ ] Energy Plants
: Sooner or later someone is going to realise that people have been disappearing and frankly, you're getting tired of the cries and pleas of your prisoners. That's why you've come up with the idea to create an entity that will generate Ebon Power for you. Combined with some knowledge from the Book of Ebon, it'll be a sure thing. The only problem is that it'll require quite a bit of your current supply but the long-term benefits are sure to outway the initial costs. Cost: 1800 EP. Chance of Success: 100%. Rewards: New Ebon Power Generator unit available. ???

[ ] Cross Umbral Network
: Newly acquired knowledge from the book of Ebon has provided a method to create some kind of "Back Channel", a sort of alternate realm that exists outside the physical world. According to the Book of Ebon, this Back Channel thing is far more effective than any teleport network in existence. With it, you'll be able to slip in and out of anywhere with impunity. While you can certainly create this "Back Channel" in reality, it'll require quite a bit of energy to do so. Cost: 1200. Chance of Success: 100%. Reward: Creation of the Ebon Back Channel. +10 to all stealth rolls. New Option unlocked. ???

[ ] Energy Gathering Fronts:
While almost completely incapable of standing up to your forces, the Twilight Empire has given you some interesting ideas on how to go about gathering Ebon Power. Simply put, you'll set up a bunch of businesses and use the energy draining and infusing capabilities of your forces to gather all kind of energy to be converted into Ebon Power while providing top-notch service. The main problem lies in whether or not you can make it work without attracting the attention of the Magical Girl forces in Las Angeyoto. Cost: 600. Chance of Success: 50%. Reward: Multiple Businesses acquired. 1500+ Ebon Power income minimum.
