100.M42 - For Those We Cherish
Fire.

Fire is a primal force.

One that has existed before the very stars themselves. One which has burned before life existed, when life had sprung up in that cosmic soup before planets ever existed, and will be the last thing that shall light up the universe when it is destroyed by age or action.

With Fire comes power. Power over nature, power over the self, power over the world.

With Fire, metals are smelted and turned into tools and weapons.
With Fire, food is transformed from base ingredients to feasts that nourish the soul and brain.
With Fire, wounds can be closed and injuries inflicted.
With Fire, one no longer needs to fear the night and the things that lurk within.

The Celestial Choir knows well the things that lurk within that otherworldly realm: whispers of Obsession, Rot, Blood, and Hope beckoning with lies sweeter and more debased than anything a mortal mind should comprehend.

With Fire, whispers of Rot turn into sloughing sneers and disappointed demands, whispers of Blood into bellowing war cries, the thrum of blood rushing through your veins, and war drums beating in the dark. Obsession ceases its assault, the simplicity of the power called upon turning away those who seduce, while the tongues luring with Hope cackle on the very edge of hearing and are subsequently ignored and drowned in chant and Faith, minds in communion erecting bastion wall after bastion wall in well-used yet always closely observed rituals against the poisons from beyond.

With Fire, hands are clad in burning pyrotechnics, streams and balls of searing BURNING are etched across the canvas of the Materium.
With Fire, weapons are etched into scorching deliverers of the Star Child's oath to the galaxy at large.
With Fire, the Celestial Choir sings a hymn into the very stars, declaring war against Rot, even as they call upon the very force that Blood oh-so wishes to claim as its own.

With Fire, a weapon made.
With Fire, a light kindled.
With Fire, a declaration made.

With Fire, they shall see what has been hidden and strike down anyone who dares to harm those holding to the faith.

In Fire, one will die.
In Fire, two will incinerate.
In Fire, three will soar above.
In Fire, four will be corrupted.
In Fire, Five shall be saved from their fates.

In Fire, no destiny is pre-ordained.
No Fate etched eternal.
No Truth left dark and twisted.

And no kindling left unburnt.

"WHAT IS YOUR DUTY?" Neophyte Alpha chanted, standing at attention in full war gear before the assembled trainees kneeling within the Chapter's new assembly hall.

"TO SLAY ALL WHO HARM MANKIND!" The trainees dutifully replied, the chants and answers well known within this daily ritual, as they, too, wore their entire equipment and kneeled with their blades pointed at the ground.

"WHAT IS YOUR PURPOSE?" Neophyte Beta chanted, observing all forty trainees that had, through some miracle, survived and thrived in the training and selection process to become members of the Lamenters.

"TO LIVE AND DIE FOR MANKIND!" The trainees cried as one, no single muscle moving within their body they had control over, their forms as still as statues, their minds turned fully to the ritual and the holy task they would shoulder once transformed into His Angels.

"WHAT IS DEATH?" Neophyte Gamma shouted, always a bit more emotional than the others, his helmet swiveling to catch any deviance from the ritual well-known to every person within the room, from lowly serf to Chapter Master Chyron himself.

"THE PRICE WE PAY TO DEFEND MANKIND!" The trainees returned with no speck of fervor less than had been directed at them, defiance and certainty within their souls that this price would never be easily claimed.

"IS THERE ARE A PRICE TOO HIGH?" Neophyte Delta spoke unmoved, unbothered, and unimpressed. He had seen the trainees fight, and they had decades to go before he'd consider them more than fodder for the enemies of humanity.

"NEVER IN DEFENSE OF MANKIND!" The trainees yelled, clad in their desire to shelter all who had elevated them and to repay all that had been given so that humanity would never have to face the horrors of the galaxy again.

"For those we cherish," Chapter Master Chyron said evenly, observing all forty trainees, his mind still dealing with the surprise of grappling with all surviving the training and that all would likely be elevated to Neophytes by the end of the month without issue. Even if all of their training was utterly and dangerously rushed, he knew that they would be able to learn with the coming wars and combat actions against the Orks barreling down this Sub-Sector. The Chapter almost died when he was alive; he would not see it die a second time within this millennium if he had any say.

"WE DIE IN GLORY!" The trainees roared back, standing as one with fists crashing against chests and swords held in salute. At the end of the month, none of them would be trainees anymore.

You Have 3 [Three] Actions.
[] Trading With Imperials

Weapons, Armor, Munitions, and Equipment from one to the other, IOUs, Currencies, Valuables, and Information from the other to one.
(Cost: Blocks any expansion of your Military at the current level.
Gain: Droma III is much better prepared to resist any Orks that make planetfall. You gain Imperial currencies.)

[] [General] Construct Something
-[] Food Production II
-[] Civilian Infrastructure
-[] Heavy Industry II
-[] Void Industry III
-[] Medical Services II

-[] Military Industry II

With much of the station freed up, we can begin filling the empty parts again with industry and things we need, from clinics to starch vats feeding us in the void.
(Gain: A district focusing on the chosen option.)

[] [Military] Raise A Specialised [Light/Medium] Infantry Unit - [Choose: Sabotage/Assault/Engineering/Demolition/Ogryn]
With a chosen direction, your Military can now focus on giving the Units you will raise the proper training for the right job. Sabotage Units will focus on raiding and disrupting the enemy with lighting raids and plundering logistics; Assault Units will punch through the enemy in weak points and sow confusion with overwhelming firepower; Engineering Units will focus on creating fortifications and using turrets, mines, and barricades; Demolition Units will be comprised out of heavy weaponry squads with plenty of explosives, from mines to rockets; and Ogryn Units will be Ogryns armored in heavy metals and armed with shields and Beatin' Sticks led by men and women with spiffy hats that will not be disobeyed. Light Units are better for Low-Logistic scenarios, while Medium Units rely more on regular shipments yet strike a good balance between supply consumption and effectiveness.
(Gain: A chosen Specialised Light/Medium Infantry Unit.)

[] [Military] A Task For Specialists (Assign Unit/s)
-[] Medium Engineering Unit
-[] Medium Assault Unit

There is war to be had and battle to be made. Send troops to resolve issues and squash opposition to the Star Child and Humanity and all His Protectorates.
(Gain: Military dispatched to put down opposition violently.
Note: For use outside your territory or in support of forces specified within another Action.)

[] [Psykana] Conduct a Melody (Choose one below.)
The Celestial Choir has been given the means; with time, they shall conduct their songs. They will listen to the Warp and filter out the false whispers from the slumbering guidance of the Star Child. In halting prayer and stumbling humming, the truth will be stripped until nothing but it remains in the hands of those who shall make it anew into power to be wielded by the Choirs to come.
(Secret: Slumber, Silence, and Perception.
Star Child: Hope, Compassion, Humanity, Song, Mercy, Creativity, Health, Unity, Innovation, Machinery, Logic, Progress, Protection II, Justice, Wisdom, The Sun, The Home, Death, Ruthlessness, Brutality, and Fire II.
Kil'drabi: Paths, The Void, Struggle, Community, and Family.
Gain: A Melody newly Conducted.)

[] [Psykana] Sing a Song (Choose at least Three below.)
Mere Melodies are not the end of the journey, nor should they be the start. They are the middle, from which all things shall grow and wither.
(Available: Protection I, Fire I.
Gain: A Song.)

[] [Faith] Of Saints and Sinners, Miracles and Purposes
The rescue and mending of the Souls of the Star-Born from the predations of the Immaterium and their Maker's malicious hands cannot be called anything other than a Miracle. Yet, what does it make of them? Saints? Or sinners rescued? Have they been endowed with a purpose? Or are they merely saved by the grace of the Star Child being able to save them? What does it mean, and, more importantly, what does the Droma Creed say it means?
(Gain: Nail down the Saint and Miracle aspects of the Cult of the Star Child.)

[] [Faith] Souls Artificial and Minds Constructed
With five of the Psykana Experiments revealed to be not ravening monsters that wish to kill all soul-bearing life to devour, but wounded, terrified, and faithful beings seeking aid from the only source of comfort they had ever gained (the Star Child), questions have come up from various corners. Did they have souls? They should; the Celestial Choir said they felt a Song of Mercy sung by the Five-One for their wounds and minds. And yet, what nature does a soul constructed by malevolent monsters into crafted flesh-psykana automata take?
(Gain: Nail down the soul-doctrine aspects of the Cult of the Star Child.)

[] [Faith] Preach To We Who Yet Wander
Having been brought under the gentle embrace of the Star Child and giving tribute to those who fight in its name for a better galaxy, the Kil'drabi represent the first among many Xeno species we shall show an existence beyond fighting for only themselves. Already culturally compatible with the ideals and tenets of the Star Child, focusing on community and cohesion against the dangers of the void and long travels, bringing them fully into the fold would be a boon for all. However, that will likely happen naturally over a century or two, just not as thoroughly as some may like, thanks to their small numbers and frequent contact with us.
(Gain: The Kil'drabi are slowly converted to the Cult of the Star Child and given more resistance to the predations of Chaos.)

[] [Faith] Preach to Droma III - Electric Boogaloo: Supreme Edition
Same verse as the second, now to get the third up and running!
(Gain: Deeper entrenchment of the Droman Creed within Droman III society.)

[] [Faith] Preach to Droma VII
The people of this desert and savannah world pray to the guise of the God-Emperor known to them as the "Gulden Lord," a figure that rules by wealth, influence, and trade rather than force, might, and his inexhaustible armies. For the people here, wealth is synonymous with piety, to the point that their preachers are merchants, one and all, and the wealthiest person rules this semi-theocratic semi-plutocratic government. Yet, they cannot go into space and have been delegated by Imperial authorities to pay their tithes in mineral wealth and provide their children for the "Gulden Lord's" armies. Converting them would be more complicated than Droma III, but we will have the time to do so once Droma III is ours.
(Gain: Start converting the people of Droma VII to the Droman Creed.)

[] [Chapter] Keep The New Blood Coming (0/4)
Same verse as the first two, and same as those that will come after until all one-thousand places have been filled with Brothers worthy of the title.
(Gain: The Lamenters gain another 80 Neophytes.)

[] [Other] Take Care Of [Future Or Current Problems]
(Write-In the problem being addressed.)
(Gain: Turn to address the issue.)

Void III to hit our benchmark for the Orks, Civilian I so we've finally got that online, and then... One flex, Trading maybe? Or finish locking in Droma III? Or work in the Kil'drabi?

[X] Plan: Full Set
-[X][General] Construct Something
--[X] Civilian Infrastructure
--[X] Void Industry III
--[X] Military Industry II

This one gets civilian infrastructure because I'm kinda worried, gets Void Industry III, and more Military Industry so that next turn we can trade with Droma III while still expanding.

I can imagine other choices, but a part of me really does think we need civilian industry, and Military Industry will be key for transitioning into, like, Go Time mode.

The good news is that, as dangerous as Orks are, they're usually not a *spiritual* threat. Very few humans convert to the Waargh! as it were, so while spreading the faith is definitely good, we don't have to worry about the Orks on that front... though we should get to it, so that we have something binding us together.

Void III to hit our benchmark for the Orks, Civilian I so we've finally got that online, and then... One flex, Trading maybe? Or finish locking in Droma III? Or work in the Kil'drabi?

If we have Military Industry II, then when we do trade, we should be able to do so without it taking up our full capacity, thus allowing us to expand some more.

[X] Plan: Not forgetting old acquaintances.
-[X][General] Construct Something
--[X] Civilian Infrastructure
--[X] Void Industry III
-[X][Faith] Preach To We Who Yet Wander

[X] Plan: Constructing and Psykana
-[X] [General] Construct Something
--[X] Void Industry III
--[X] Civilian Infrastructure
-[X] [Psykana] Conduct a Melody (Song)

This plan gives us both Void Industry III to get us proper battleships, and it also gives our civilians better homes and what not. I also want us to start doing more melody as we've been planning for the past few turns, I chose "Song" specifically because I have a feeling it's integral to a lot of the Songs we can create in the future, or at the very least make them more effective, also "Song" is one of the Melodie's needed for our pseudo-navigator Song. Which is what we need to expand into other systems.

Edit: Someone else posted a similar plan to Constructing and Preaching before me, so now it's down to my second plan.

Advantage of doing Kil'drabi now: more time for them to have pure psyker kids.
Can still do psykana next turn without losing one bit of potency.

And you can vote for both your "Constructing and Psykana" and the "Constructing and Preaching" look-alike.

The good news, btw, is that with THIS: [][Kil'drabi Protectorate] Design and Production Rationalization

It means we can just design the ship next turn and ALSO have it.

And if my plan wins, that, Trade and finally paying attention to the Kil'drabi again? (Which is why I'm fine with the Kil'drabi plan winning and just doing Design, Trade, Mil 2 next turn.)
