Yeah, at seven we're still much too small to get any real good out of martial arts. There'd be very few if any peers to spar with, it'd be hard to even teach us without hurting us.
Personally I'd be more interested in picking up fencing, archery, or learning how to shoot from dad.I'm curious as to why people are putting off on martial arts training.

Scythe would be ironically fitting a child of Demeter, but idk how good a weapon it actually is. The only person I know who used a scythe in Percy Jackson was Kronos and we aren't going to get lessons from him. In addition, idk if our Greek Demigod weapon sense works with scythes (I mean, I see people using swords, spears, daggers, bows, but not axes and exotic weapons likes scythes and whips).I want us to be a scythe wielding badass.
Edit: probably won't happen I just think scythes are cool
as several pages would show i fully support that demigod/mortal relations dont work and ive mostly chosen to talk with her cause skipping grades was the 'get more into supernatural junk' option and if she is mortal ill be advertising that we drop her like a burning coal once we start on said supernatural junk.Seriously guys, Demigods and mortals don't work out. Ever. Let's not get the death if a child on our conscious just yet.
Not gonna lie I kinda wanted to go wood elf after the whole Demeter is our mother and dad is a ranger thing, partially also because I like bows, I don't think they come up much in pjo besides the times the hunters of Artemis come up, a compact bow/ crossbow wouldn't be hard to come by, (unless New York has some laws against it) also I figured there's plenty of synergy between growing tress/plants with concepts making arrows out of em and cutting loose.Archery would be better, but this is my personal opinion. I like the idea of binding/trapping monsters with Chlorokinesis and shooting them with a bow and arrow. That being said, having a melee weapon would probably be a good idea. As for guns, there was a whole discussion earlier with lots of people pointing out the flaws of using guns: single-use ammunition, mortals seeing us with guns, limited celestial bronze, and such.
Idk how good fencing would be against monsters. Could be useful, get us into Swordmanship or such.

On top of that, a scythe is a weapon made for cutting plants, if we're using plants to hold a monster down or such, maybe using a weapon that'll cut the monster free of plants isn't a great idea.
add on to this by mentioning living wood arrows, made so when they go into a monster they then rapidly grow through said monster killing them or rooting them in place. Not gonna lie I kinda wanted to go wood elf after the whole Demeter is our mother and dad is a ranger thing, partially also because I like bows, I don't think they come up much in pjo besides the times the hunters of Artemis come up, a compact bow/ crossbow wouldn't be hard to come by, (unless New York has some laws against it) also I figured there's plenty of synergy between growing tress/plants with concepts making arrows out of em and cutting loose.
Because it won't actually help with defending ourselves from monsters which 9.5 times of of 10 will be what we are up against.
Yeah but they don't come up much. Percy, Jason, nico, and hazel have swords, piper and annabeth have dagger's, Leo has his magic bag, and frank can shapeshift, (choice of weapons admittedly come up short sometimes when they all have extra powers that the other demigod kids don't display, magic items or are the children of the big 3) even the antagonists like Luke and that one eyed kid Percy fought in the labyrinth swordsmen, meanwhile the only love bows really get is from the hunters yeah the Apollo cabin uses them too but asides from that one guy nico dates who really cares about the Apollo kids unless there doing cool things in the curse of Apollo series (which I haven't checked out yet) when are they ever doing anything relevant besides laying down fire in the big climatic battles at the end of each series? I just want it to be more of a focus for total bias reasons. What are you guys talking about. The Apollo cabin uses mainly bows as weapons
It's what generic bowman do! Again I want to be a wood elf! I want to go Legolas/Oliver queen/Clint Barton on somebody's ass which should be possible because demigods are either peak human or superhuman.Because that what bowmen do, is lay down fire in big climactic battles. Do you want that or to be in the thick of things
Why should we worry about the Apollo kids were not gonna be around then 24/7 and a Bow with our Clorokonesis means we can have mid~long range covered and only need a back up weapon for when somethings too tanky plus we can do something the Apollo kids can't control the wood on our arrows.Because that what bowmen do, is lay down fire in big climactic battles. Do you want that or to be in the thick of things
Edit: I'm not saying bows are trash or anything. I'm just saying that I'd rather us be a melee range fighter and that we would always get outshone at archery by the apollos kids
Cool but I don't see melee being a speciality for us with how hard a good portion of us (myself included are pulling for the plant powers being our main) besides going by that logic we shouldn't bother with weapons at all because the ares kids will have a natural edge in whatever we try to pickup. Except it doesn't work like that not really before Percy showed up the best fighter in camp was luke the son of the messenger god not one of the war gods kids I also equated the skill of demigod's to the fact that they are clearly not all equal there's like a tier of difference between how good the random kids walking around and the relevant cast are but I'm pretty sure we're in tier with the relevant cast or we'll get there through whatever means we vote necessary.Edit: I'm not saying bows are trash or anything. You're right. My logic was bad. But Percy was able to become one of, If not the best swordsman of his generation within the 4 years he was at camp having never touched a sword before. We have more time than that before cannon even starts. We could pretty much pick up any skill and be good at it by the time things go to shit.Cool but I don't see melee being a speciality for us with how hard a good portion of us (myself included are pulling for the plant powers being our main) besides going by that logic we shouldn't bother with weapons at all because the ares kids will have a natural edge in whatever we try to pickup. need to be careful with that level of assumption cause while i can see us reaching named cast level i dont know if we'll reach the level of folks like Jason and Nico and i really doubt we'll reach the level of Percy 'i can 1v1 titans' Jackson.I'm pretty sure we're in tier with the relevant cast or we'll get there through whatever means we vote necessary.
again gotta remember percy is an absolute monster of a demigod and sits on a tier of his own combat wise. But Percy was able to become one of, If not the best swordsman of his generation within the 4 years he was at camp having never touched a sword before.
You're already assuming we'll never be as good as percy. We're already better than he was when he first started by knowing who we are and having decent enough control of our abilities that we dont get exhausted when we use them.again gotta remember percy is an absolute monster of a demigod and sits on a tier of his own combat wise.
