What is Fate? (Percy Jackson and the Olympians Quest)

Hades does on his own occasionally.

But Hades is actually level headed, fair, and professional when carrying out his duty as judge of souls. I'd rather not mock him when he's being respectable.

I don't dispute the reasonableness of Hades (half the reason why the other gods don't like him, I think), but it should be noted that his punishments tend towards direct physical suffering in nearly all cases (burning, starving, crushing, etc). I have never seen him do anything like sugar-hell in the myths- and I have read a LOT of the myths. It's not a deliberate attempt to mock him.

Besides, he's mocked literally every day by all the lifeforms in his immediate vicinity, living or dead, plus the constant insults from his fellow gods. And in PJO canon, he snaps and lashes out exactly ONCE. We'll need to do a hell (hehe) of a lot more mocking if we want to get under his skin. Worst case scenario, he waits until we die and forces us to be his ghost butler or something. As the god of the dead, he can hold on to his grudges for as long as needed.

Edit: Also, it is very rare that Hades directly judges the fate of a soul. the only recorded circumstances for his direct attention are:

1. Blasphemy against the Gods (he'll pitch in on a creative punishment)
2. Those who try for the isles of the Blessed (the normal judges are too low in rank to arbitrate for these legendary heroes)
3. Direct petition (good luck getting through the bureaucratic red tape unless you have a lot of political clout on Olympus)
4. Persephone asks him to do something (and she often falls on the side of leniency, not vengeance, unless your name is Minthe)

You know what I'm curious about, are we actually genuinely a genius or Is it just because we remember all the material from our past life cause it'd be suspicious to get out of Highschool at twelve and then be average in college or the workforce.
It would depend on how we decide to study while we are at college since genius is more or less just a different way to say insanely dedicated. Like, Mozart was not some god given genius who could compose music with ease and little prior effort, he was a guy that practiced crazy hours from a very young age.

Now I kind of want to go to law school and ask Hades for an internship.

The job security would be amazing.

Not quite. No matter hpw crazily dedicated you are, a true genius will have a much easier time than you learning in their field. Like you could be busting your ass, working until you're nerves are fraying and you can even be good at what you do. And the genius will make it look like a walk in the park.

Mozart might have started early, but he also had a knack and an ease in learning when it came to music, as well as great passion.

How many of us are made to do a sport or play and instrument by our parents in our childhood and abandon it as soon as we're old enough?

Citation? Maybe? I don't know. I kind of want to agree kind of do want to.

Evidence would be helpful in making up my mind.

Sort of hopefully that our plant powers give us some sort of advantage in studying plant biology.

But ask yourself this how many dedicated people do you know? And how many of them have had breakthroughs or changed anything about what they're focused/passionate about? And how old were they when this happened?

Elon Musk. Look up his early life.

Like whatever your opinion about the guy, his personality, politics, etc. he is a genius.

I only have one real life friend :V

I'll look up musk though.

And we don't need to actually be a super genius to get a PHD. It's hard, but not impossibly hard.

Fair enough, but you must still know people in your family, among ypir collegues. And I never said we couldn't get a PHD. I'm just asking what's the hurry? Eapecially when there are worse things to worry about.

As for Musk, he thought himself programming when he was 10 and by 12 sold a game for 500$. I don't know if he ever skipped a grade, but most geniuses are only so in their own field of work, only about what they're passionate about. Most people we call geniuses were actually terrible at school, like Hawking or Einstein.

Nothing super specific. Just kind of... Want to?

I think getting a real solid skillset and career path would be useful.

Look at the professional training merit in WoD.
And if we weren't on a timer...what with the upcoming War of Gods vs. Titans, I'd also be in agreement. But, main characters have died during this war in canon...I just think that we should focus on what's more urgent. Since we're only at Apprentince in Parkour/War-Scythe/Archery/etc... and finishing school early and taking a break from it would allow us to focus more on the skills that will actually help keep us and our friends alive.

Also I'm sorry for my spelling mistakes. I'm writing on my phone.

It's fine, and I kind of agree?

Chronos isn't waking up any sooner without more demigods to eat though, and I'm more worried about surviving the quest the gods ARE going to send us on.

thats it

I challenge the thread to write an omake of the Gods debating what to do about Sam given his abnormally high power level, with Hades giving the only sensible suggestions and otherwise being ignored, and Demeter commenting on our need for healthier cereal if we are to grow big and strong :)

You know what I'm curious about, are we actually genuinely a genius or Is it just because we remember all the material from our past life cause it'd be suspicious to get out of Highschool at twelve and then be average in college or the workforce.

It's not actually that unusual for a kid to average out as they get older. We're a textbook case of someone abnormally mature and probably in one of the higher percentiles for intelligence.

To use the "big fish in a small pond" metaphor, we're a fish that grew fast and can get pretty big. We've been compared to fish that were further behind in their growth and probably wouldn't ever get as big*.

When we go to college we will be in a much bigger pond with much bigger fish that are about as far along or further in their growth as us. Our main advantage will be taking a much lighter course load and not needing to really worry about paying for college**. Might even go to a school that won't waste our time with GEs.

Might even be able to breed a few better crop strains that aren't considered GMOs. The real trick will be figuring out how many ways we can stuff Demeter and the names other gods we like into our stuff.

*because your average public highschool isn't exactly a gathering of the best and brightest to put it lightly

**we're gonna get a full ride from somewhere, else the wonderkid goes somewhere else. Might have to act as a case study for some of the professors' research as part of it, but that's a small price to pay.

[][Early Graduation] Complete High School in 2 Years (2 Training Actions per Semester)

I hope we cap out on Mastered English, Mathematics, Fundamental Sciences, Mundane History and Gardening. Then focus on making as much money as possible with future knowledge, buying and selling stock on the stock market at NYC and programming. Once we get enough money that we make money by doing nothing, we focus on being a demigod doing demigod things.

EDIT: Zeus damnit. At least we won the finish highschool early vote.

buy out google? :V

If we make enough money yes but the problem is that now it be our job to make google great. Just invest in them once we get enough money so that we can reap the benefits without doing any actual work.

Doing work means giving up actions that we can spend training or learning or interacting with other demigods/supernatural beings. remember our ultimate goal in the mundane world is to gain alot of money by doing nothing.
