What Happens Next (Slay The Princess/RWBY)

[X] The Eye of the Needle. You will have to hold yourself back a lot, but you will be a giant distraction that can't be ignored.

Always be yourself, unless you can be a dragon. Then be a dragon.

In Stella's case she can even do both :V

Edit: vote switched for optimal spookiness

Soo is it actually good for the Grimm Fang fighters to run away (if they're capable of it after the Spectre solidifies in them), or be captured and sent to Menagerie? I think the less forces they have the better.

You would prefer if they where captured instead of running, but there are others that will stay around the camp, some will probably manage to flee, but it'll be the minority of those that even try anyway.

This is why I was sad when I saw that we got the Eye instead of the Adversary when I found this quest. LQ and Adversary in an endless fight as immortals is one of my favorite endings, and I always prefer that to the Eye endings.

The biggest advantage of getting pure unaltered Adversary instead of the Eye was indeed the fact that *the Princess cannot die* would've been i full effect.

Now, the Eye is less in need of it, she hits way header and is way tougher, but you cannot pull a *surprise, I can come back!* if someone kills her.

Well, not directly as the Eye, the Princess is not going to let something as small as *being dead* stop her.

Is this the right tool for the job? Probably not, but we've spent too long not turning into a giant dragon lady and much like the Eye herself, I am tired of waiting.

Part of my reason for vetoing going as Stella is that I was getting tired of doing all the fights as her, and was struck by a moment of clarity about how giving the option was going to end up with that winning again, somehow.

You have a giant dragon lady form, and a multiheaded goddess one, and a spectre one, and a thorn one, you have demonstrated your skills with the base enough at this point, let's move on a little.

[X] The Stranger. Given the number of targets, multitasking will help.
Since it's mentioned that Glynda is to take Adam, Stranger it is. This way Stella can ensure no one intervenes.

Even well-trained G-Fang shmucks would break too easily if it's The Eye that takes them on (though it could be argued The Eye can be an insurance that Adam will lose the fight no matter what).

A random thought that I had. Let's take The Cheeky Cat Witch, for example. The outcomes of her scenario are either mutually assured destruction or Hero breaking the cycle of revenge. I wonder if Stella is aware of these different conclusions for the same vessel?

Hmm that's true. We don't want Stella to gain the reputation of a barely-restrained killer when using a more obvious form of her semblance, do we? When someone really needs to die let's choose The Eye.

We've been hitting our allies pretty hard with the eldritch truths so going as a nice straightforward form with no obvious metaphysical tomfoolery (aside from being suddenly 8ft tall and swole) is probably the way to go.

Hm maybe this is a quest where its voters are too restrained and like to play things safe (me included)... which is bizarre Apotheosis go!. I would not mind the Eye to spice things up!

Still not the time for the Eye, I feel.

Vaguely? She knows of the ocean of possibilities that is her true self, but she isn't always aware of what's in it.

So she can know that if she concentrate on it, but she doesn't know the details consciously most of the time.

You want me to help with numbers? Ok! I can do that! Splits into five people.

Eh, why not, we can go with being a Distraction Carnifex.

You look at Glynda more closely that you ever did, judging in your heart how you will explain your seeming contradictions.

She saw Adam Taurus as a savior and the man has spent the time he had with her to reenforce this impression. You quickly add when you see Ghira begins opening his mouth angrily. "But that the recent events have sapped her self-confidence. Which is normal. If possible, you should make sure they stay alive so that Menagerie can take them to judge them themselves. As they are their compatriots.
themselves, as

Blake becoming a huntress actually makes sense. She was disappointed in the White Fang, but this does not mean that she immediately accepted the point of view of her parents, so she could not simply return. It makes sense for her to seek both personal power and reputation to be able to advance her vision, even if she is not yet sure what it is. After all, hunters have a significant reputation, people are more likely to trust them and listen to their words, both humans and fauns. Of course, this will not solve the problem in itself, but it will provide more opportunities for solving the problem.

It wasn't necessarily the only or best path to Blake's goal, but it wasn't a stupid or illogical choice.
This. Huntsmen and Huntresses who do their jobs well are pretty universally heroic, and that respect garnered by protecting everyone else with their lives, combined with the Kingdoms/Academies promoting flashy demonstrations in competitions and such, can even garner fame and celebrity if done right. Pyrrha's whole Invincible Girl, sponsored tournament champion situation, was an exceptional junior example of that.

Blake's logic was essentially the same as Weiss' (playing into them being foils): Become an excellent Huntress, and develop a recognizable voice that people are actually interested in listening to first, then use that starting influence to help push your agenda. It's just been made a more suboptimal path by the changed circumstances of this AU, where not only are her parents contacted early, but they maintained control of the White Fang movement and therefore are still a relevant political foundation to work off of.

Side note, cutting Blake out of the student plot entirely leaves me wondering how the team compositions are going to be handled. Since Jaune was always doomed to be dismissed before we even started, with Penny being brought in to take his spot. Now who's going to replace Blake once she's put on a bus? Because I saw 7 student characters as focuses for Initiation, and that's an uneven amount for forming teams.

We've put off using her enough that everyone's getting antsy. Don't need to keep waiting for the optimal time.

I think you meant 7, since I said Penny, Nora and Ren, Pyrrha, Weiss, Ruby or Yang.

I already have the eighth in mind, it's still not Jaune.
Don't know why I hit 9 instead of 7, yeah.

Speculating on who you're gonna use…I don't see you using anyone from team CRDL, the only other named Beacon first years. Any other option requires yet more AU changes, which I can't exactly predict. That would be either someone who went to a different Academy like Sun (first option I thought of when the only other faunus that would've been in these two teams is getting shipped off), or one of the appropriately aged villains. Oscar would've been a freebie for the role, but he's even younger than Ruby and doesn't have the skills to justify being fast tracked like her without changes (and that goes against your stated intent to keep younger characters away from danger).

So by process of elimination, my guess is Sun.

It could also be that Ruby does not get the exact circumstances of canon, does not make it in two years early, and the resulting two open slots are filled by the Malachite twins.
