What Happens Next (Slay The Princess/RWBY)

[X] Show him the whole of the Shifting Mound. He deserves it. You know it won't drive him mad, but it will take him some time to recover from and digest the information.

The Moment of Clarity is unique in the sense that it has a cut timeframe of repetitions after seeing what is beneath The Wraith's mask. It fades back in on all choices having been tried and failed, all voices present, and only a single option left. If you had not already said there will be no mindbreak, that would be a hint going that way.

But without mindbreak, I imagine the name is telling here: there will be a moment of clarity for both sides. Either may not like or get shaken by what they see.

Either way, I am still in favour of going all-in. The mental image I have of the Princess is someone who wants to trust, and who is willing to extend that trust to someone who has done her no harm and made no motion to do so.

There is something here, somewhere, not all of that is true, not all of that is false.

You are right that without the part on the mindbreak, it would be a simple hint on the revelation being a bad idea, but I am confirming it isn't in that particular direction. Still no mindbreak there.

You use some free time to show Velvet some actual basic in punching and kicking, particularly the second, as her body seems better for it.

The doors of the elevator opens, letting you and Ozpin see each other, and your plans crash and burn on the spot, because somehow, the moment he saw you, you felt your existence shift from a normal Huntress with promise to a god in disguise.

You have to give it to him, he doesn't let anything appear on his face, unfortunately, your nature betrayed his thought and your love is accustomed to your changes enough to feel something is wrong.

A simple *two truth and a lie* reveals that Coco never had any boyfriend, despite acting like she is experienced.
Was Coco (and maybe the rest of the team since I don't see how they wouldn't know by now) just messing with Stella by omitting the fact that she's a proud lesbian, so that isn't really relevant for her dating experience anyway?

I am telling it now: You will go full Shifting Mound at least once in this quest, this is not an if, this is a when and how often.

Yes, you are there to live as mortals, but sometimes the best way to do so is going to be to erase any trace of the thing that could have stopped you from doing it with prejudice.

In fact, think about what the Princess wants of Ozpin right now, and what him accepting her truly would mean for her prospect of living as a person.
Oh, I'd been operating under the belief that their self-imposed goal/challenge of living as mortals was something we were meant to hold to as players, so finding ourselves in a situation where we're reduced to going full God-mode to solve a problem would be a result of us screwing up somewhere. And so if we didn't intend to ever use our full power, there wouldn't be much need to show it off to Ozpin.

But I guess we should if using the full Shifting Mound later is intended? Especially since each clarification makes it sound more and more like the option you'd prefer to write about. Which is understandable, it definitely sounds like it'll be the most high concept version, especially if it's combining something like the Moment of Clarity's visions of infinite lives/possibilities thing with Oz's reincarnation situation.

Now I want the full shifting mound for the sole reason that I imagine during the entire conversation with Ozma Shifting Mound is just squeezing her Birbboy like a giant teddy bear.

Totally, I absolutely didn't forget that detail, honest.

Also, it's not like the Princess is knowledgeable on normal love stories anyway.

You needing to go full god mode without big reasons would be due to you screwing up, but there is going to be at least one situation where you will do it, if only to be able to go back to living as mortals.

It doesn't help that I am a pretty strong transhumanist of the *why stay as we are if we can be more?* kind, and it is sure to permeate in my writing at one point or another.

The Long Quiet and the Princess wants to understand the little people, the best way to do that is to live among them, and while they don't want to be gods, the fact is that they are, that cannot be changed.

You will never be the exact same as them, but you can be accepted by them, or at least that is your hope.

The Nightmare taking off her mask, IIRC from a dev comment, was her trying to be seen and accepted (there's even a brief animation of her shedding a tear) but the Long Quiet not quite being ready for it.

Reading the discussion finally made me decide to go this way.

Ha, well speaking of funny character interactions and crushes on the Princess from earlier. Based on some of the reactions I've seen online to the Tower, and Coco's apparent type from her having a thing for Glynda, it's probably for the best that they never meet.

Coco, after listening to the Voice of the Broken's insistence on submitting to the Tower's dominance: "I'm not saying he's right…but I get it."

Yesss all in. Because this is the most fun. And again, shows full trust to Ozpin.

The Princess' idea of a love story includes a fair bit more of literal heart mutilation and 'becoming as one' compared to figurative, for one thing. Probably not the best to recommend to people who actually need their organs. Fortunately, she at least has an excellent understanding of the idea that different things might be attractive to different people!

No limits show it in full

[X] Show him only your heart as the Shifting Mound. He'll see less of your power, but he'll understand it more, understand you more.

Chapter IX vote closed
Ok, I think the vote has been going long enough, I'll close it now.

We will return to the normal schedule from now onward, I'll post the update during the week-end and the vote will go on for half the week.

With some relief from me (I hope I haven't been too pushy, I would have accepted both options winning, I just prefers this one), you are showing all of you to Ozpin (he's going to be a little awkward due to how literal this is in fact :V).

Now, since I said there were parts of the update that showed my preferences and that there was something about the Moment of clarity that was relevant here:

The title of Chapter IX was about Trust, and it requiring change to grow. The Shifting Mound is change, how can you trust someone, if you are not wiling to trust yourself enough to show your whole self?

As for the MOC, someone got quite close on pointing out what the Nightmare wanted to do by removing her mask, but while it is about this in part, the actual thing I was thinking about was her talk when the Shifting Mound calls her, namely:

"There are few things more terrifying than one's own heart, and there is almost nothing more terrifying than sharing it with another.

But the most terrifying thing of all is to leave one's heart unshared."

And now here you are, sharing your heart once again, but you know more than terror this time, let's see if Oz was ready.

There is a high chance the chapter will be from his POV in fact, at least partially.

He gets what he deserves.
Shouldn't have been messing around for a thousand years after making a single mistake.

He tried his best, and didn't even have a choice.

I am not going to go the way of canon and pretend he is a horrible monster after only showing him to be a victim.

I hate victim blaming.

I stopped watching RWBY after the lost fable for several reasons, and this is one of them, one of the strongest.

Oh, he is not a monster. As Gale rightfully pointed out he doesn't want to be here and frankly doesn't have the mentality for doing the work he is doing. And it shows.

Ok, I can agree with that, your last comment was too reminding of some of the Oz haters, but if you simply think he is out of his depth, which, frankly, he didn't ask for this shit, then I am partially thinking the same.

What the differences are, you'll see in the update, the beginning is shaping up to be from his side.

Wait, scratch that. He just wanted to know why we're here. Showing the Shifting Mound is coming right out of left field.

Yep. :V

He asked a simple question, and the other side decided to bring out their best game in answer.

Technically, you are answering him, you are there because you are concepts that want to understand humans and live with them instead of above them, but still, you didn't need to bring out the cosmic powers, that one is entirely on the Princess.
