What Happens Next (Slay The Princess/RWBY)

hmm.
Why do I imagine Weiss having a crush on dear Princess princess
I Doubt that extremely highly. To my knowledge Weiss would likely NEVER go for an authority figure as a romantic prospect, girl has too much respect for authority to do so. That being said, literally anything is possible...Especcially with an Eldritch Deific Figure that is conceptually tied to Change.

Nobody:

My brain, because I love it when Stella monologues:

"What's your favorite fairy tale?"

"Well, it goes something like this..." Princess puts on her best Narrator voice "You are on a path in the woods. And at the end of that path is a cabin. And in the basement of that cabin is a Princess. You are here to slay her. If you don't, it will be the end of the world."

"...and?"

"And that's it! The rest is up to you. And the Princess, I suppose. Don't worry about the Narrator, he's just there to set things up."

Ozpin pointedly looks at Stella's Princess-ness.

"Why yes, I am! Don't you think that's exciting? A Princess can be anything. A helpless damsel, or an impish specter, or a ferocious beast, or a wary thorn, or just... a stranger. A Princess can be anything you want her to be and anything she needs to be. She is always changing, for Princesses grow up into Queens, don't they? But a Queen, that's a fixed point. For me there is no center. I am always a Princess, but you never speak to the same Princess twice!"

"The end of the world, though? That's an odd detail."

"The world ends and is reborn every day. To slay the Princess, REALLY slay her, would be to deny the possibility of change. Of growth. Of death, yes, but also surely of life? Without the Princess, the world would not end, true, but could it ever be said to begin?"

Too bad, that's not how the interview goes with him (not written yet, but the idea is already crystallized, I am just cutting out the fragment into facets).

But who knows, maybe you'll be able to have some fun with the other members of the Ozluminati when they appear, we'll see how it goes.

Yeah, I kinda figured I missed the boat on that one, but the thoughts stuck in my brain and would not leave. :V

Also maybe overexplaining the symbolism of her name (Stella, as countless as the stars, Panoply, a body and mind for every occasion) because that seems like the kind of thing you would do with Ozpin, given RWBY starts with everyone having extremely obvious meaningful names (even if it is just color or something obvious (like Adam (first man) Taurus (bull) being full of himself and stubborn) sometimes) and then never talks about it UNLESS Oz is involved, then suddenly it's fairy tales this and color names that

Hmm, I think I may be able to get a little thing about the names in actually, thanks for reminding me of that.

hmm.
I don't know if it's my Disco Elysium brain screaming...but I want to see Oz unravel.
Where every version of him every past he has unravels, until he is but the old king who failed

Chapter IX: Trust is a thing that needs change to grow.
[X] Coach them on their teamwork.
-[X] They definitely improved since last time, but you feel as if there is a slight rift between Velvet Scarletina and the rest of the team, and Coco Adel has airs of pushing them too much, work on that.
-[X] Other strategy for coaching? Have them do brief spars 1v1, 1v2 to get more familiar with working with any individual on the team. Listen to what the team wants to do and how they're feeling. If they get too tired, switch to trust exercises. More blind folds and having the unblinded teamates direct them through the school. Give them theoretical scenarios of enemies they have to fight and how they'd handle it individually, as a team, and as various pairs or trios.

You spend the rest of the time you were given with Team CFVY working on improving their teamwork.

You begin with simple exercises, blindfold someone and have Fox guide them through the campus, or simply let themselves fall back in the arms of another teammate. Gradually, you move to more involved things, light spars to not tire them too much, done with every combination of two of them against the other two.

You see some rifts when doing so, Velvet has difficulties with contributing, her newly gained unarmed moves help, but she is not yet sure enough of them to use them as much as necessary. It also seems like Coco is pushing them too much and being controlling.

So you switch their exercises, Coco is asked to be the one following, with her current partner leading her. You use some free time to show Velvet some actual basics in punching and kicking, particularly the second, as her body seems more suited to it. She absorbs your lessons like a sponge, but has a tendency to simply copy, her semblance hindering her when it comes to improvising. You work on that too within her spars, coaching her teammates on how to dodge some particular moves to force Velvet to vary what she does.

When the team is too tired from a fight, you go back to trust exercises. A simple *two truth and a lie* reveals that Coco never had any boyfriend, despite acting like she is experienced. It also reveals that Fox can read surface thoughts using his semblance, a fact that leads to you asking him to not try to pry into your head. Given how intimate he considers the act, he agrees readily.

You can see the results of both your and your other half's work in the course of the license.

It seems like your love has found his way and is giving team LSRS all the dirty tricks in the book and then some. This ends up working quite well with your advice on confidence and teamwork with team CFVY. Team LSRS doesn't tend to win fights, and in fact isn't trying to do that so much as exploiting the fact that this is an endurance fight and they are second to last in it to ruthlessly exploit all openings given to tire the candidates as much as possible. Meanwhile, the growing ability to know what the others are doing without looking, courtesy of Fox being more at ease with his Semblance, means team CFVY can pick up the exhausted opposition at their leisure.

You didn't even synchronize, but you and your love end up creating an air of camaraderie between the two teams, to the point you find their respective leaders discussing strategies. A little scene that makes you feel warm in your heart.

You and Sable spend your nights discussing your days and your futures. He has asked Glynda and there is an open place for a class on how to outlast opponents, something the school is interested in due to the fact that Grimm can form quite impressive hordes from time to time and it would benefit everyone if Huntsmen were able to keep active for longer when it happens. You yourself know that you want to go in the more mental side of things, though you are not sure yet if you want to specialize in teamwork or simply counseling in general. You have some thoughts on helping students work on their Semblances, but it is not as strong for the moment. Your malleable mind and priorities mean that this can still change.

Before long, the test is finished. This year saw less prospective huntsmen reach the second part, a week in a forest taking care of Grimm for them, but the ones that did do it all passed with flying colors. Some of the losers may resent you, but you do not think you have improved the level so much that anyone that should have been able to win lost instead, probably. Frankly, you don't actually care.

You are called by Glynda once again for your own results, not that you doubt you can reach the next part, but she does want her protocol to be followed.

"Welcome. I am sure you already know, but you both have proven you have what it takes to be Teachers at Beacon, the final decision is still Ozpin's but he has taken time to review videos of your work. I know him enough to be able to guess he won't see any problems. After this, you'll have to take a class during the rest of the year to officially give you the knowledge required and so we won't get accusations of favoritism. He is ready to receive you, you just have to take the elevator to his office. Good luck, and I hope to work with you soon." She is the warmest you have ever seen her, clearly she loves her work and seeing others want to do it if this is how she treats you now.

"Thank you for your support. I also hope to be one of your colleagues soon." You answer, your love simply offering a nod next to you.

With everything in order, you take the elevator to the final obstacle between you and the post as a teacher at Beacon. You stay pensive during the short ride. You wonder what kind of man Ozpin is. You only have heard of him from Glynda, who clearly admires him. No matter what, you have no signs he sees you as anything different than Stella Panoply, so you will use this to….

The doors of the elevator open, letting you and Ozpin see each other, and your plans crash and burn on the spot. Because somehow, the moment he saw you, you felt your existence shift from a normal Huntress with promise to a god in disguise.

You have to give it to him, he doesn't let anything appear on his face. Unfortunately, your nature betrayed his thoughts and your love is accustomed to your changes enough to feel something is wrong.

Very well, he won't be showing his cards himself, so you will force his hand. You walk toward him with purpose.

"You know, of all the mortals I met, you are the first one with a little experience." You say, your gaze able to detect the depths of his soul compared to normal people thanks to his perspective. "You feel like a shallow creek, or maybe a small lake. All the others are puddles."

And that's as far as you go before The Long Quiet put an arm on your shoulder to stop you from continuing forward while looking at you with a disappointed air.

"Given the last time my dear Princess was looking that divine, she was completely naked and trying to convince me to join her." Your Other Half begins. For some reason, Ozpin does a double take at this, you have absolutely no idea why. "I can guess you have some way of feeling our true nature? And since she didn't act like this before you saw her directly, it is tied to your vision, right?"

Ozpin nods at this, his first movement since your entrance. Then he opens his mouth to speak.

"Yes, I have the ability to see magic. The only time I saw such a concentration of it was when meeting the brother gods and the god of Faunus, and while you do not feel like them exactly, the feeling is similar. Now, am I allowed to ask what brings two gods to my humble school?" His nerves have to be made of steel, for him to be able to be that controlled when in your divine presence. Only the reassuring touch of your Other Half keeps you grounded enough to not answer by asking him to grovel. You have to anchor yourself. You are not here as The Shifting Mound, you are here as Stella Panoply, The Long Quiet's dear Princess, Glynda's future colleague.

With a titanic effort of will, you calm your heart and look at Ozpin not through the eyes of a vengeful god, but as the closest you can be to a mortal. You see the tension in his posture, the fact he isn't even trying to reach for his weapon despite it all. You see the tiredness in his eyes and the determination to not give up even in the face of overwhelming odds. You see a man, standing in front of a god, and wanting to talk, a man you can respect. A man you think could see the whole of you and still be able to treat you not as the thing to fear your creator saw, but as a person.

Your love is there with you, feeling you have calmed down, and you have a silent conversation born from your knowledge of each other.

You explain what you want to do with a look, he thinks it through, and expresses both hope and caution.

He is willing to try, but he also thinks you have the option of not showing all but only your heart. Ozpin would learn less, but he would also understand more of what he sees.

No matter what, The Long Quiet will be behind you, do you take the risk?

Vote:

No write-ins here, one of the two, what do you show Ozpin?

[] Show him the whole of the Shifting Mound. He deserves it. You know it won't drive him mad, but it will take him some time to recover from and digest the information.

[] Show him only your heart as the Shifting Mound. He'll see less of your power, but he'll understand it more, understand you more.

A/N:

I originally intended to have a little talk about your status as gods with Ozpin before the choice, the narrative disagreed.

This choice will have consequences, but they are not set in stone, this is a first step.

Ozpin won't talk to you about Salem just yet, he isn't going to trust you on the spot, but no matter what this is a first step. No matter what, you are going to give him hope in some way.

You are not against humanity, you may not care much about them naturally but your Partner and Other Half does and is willing to help you when you stumble. Oz will see that.

How much are you willing to trust him? How much are you willing to show? How much are you betting on his ability to understand something that cannot be understood?

If you have questions you want to ask about the choice, do not hesitate to ask. The worst that will happen is me saying this would be a spoiler, and even just knowing what questions you have can help me going forward.

I can't believe I didn't see any comment on Team LoSeRS. Maybe they'll need a new name once theyre slightly more competent :V

Does the full reveal show him everything we are and just take some more time to deal with it, or is he missing out on character stuff by it?

The way its written feels as if the full mound is the truth of what we are, while the Heart is the truth of who we are. I'm inclined to go for the latter, myself (the Shifting Mound and Long Quiet came here to live amongst mortals and do mortal-adjacent things for a bit, not to revel in divinity), but your mileage may vary.

He already knows we are a god, we don't need to blow his mind with the whole of the SM. The Stranger is enough to get the point across, especially if we tell him it is a mere shadow of our true nature.

Edit: Changing my vote, cuz I feel like it.

Finally! someone pointing it out!

You have no idea how much I was hoping for someone to see that.

Yes, I literally named their team Losers. :V

Given that part of it is the question you are asking yourself, can't answer all of it right now.

He'll definitely see the power you wield more if you go for full, that much I can tell, as is, he thinks you are closer to the brothers when it comes to that.

You are not, if they came here when you are willing to go full power and they tried to kill you, you would not really feel anything.

As I said earlier, they are Cthulu, you are Yog-Sothoth.

He already knows we are a god, we don't need to blow his mind with the whole of the SM. The Stranger is enough to get the point across, especially if we tell him it is a mere shadow of our true nature.

The question is on how much of that you want him to understand, he is underevaluating your abilities by several orders of magnitude, but do you want to correct the false impression?

Well the thing is that that in a way The Princess is not a God. A Diety for sure, but not a God, not in the way we understand Gods. A God stands vigilant and is a bith a Master and Warden of their Domain. I Would Akin the Princess more as thew Embodiment of a couple of concepts, like Change, Perception, and other things like that. But that's not accurate either, because somehow she is both...Truly the best way to describe her is Eldritch. Maybe it only matters...from a certain point of view.

That's only one definition of gods.

You are right that she is eldritch, but there is a term for that: Outer gods.

That's what the Princess is, an outer god.

Also, just to make absolutely sure it is clear to everyone:

The option to show your whole self will not drive Oz mad, I am giving my word on that.

It can daze him, leave him reeling for a time, but it will not break him.

This fact and the certainty of it in her mind is why the Princess is even conceiving doing this.

Hmm.

I'm sure Oz can handle the real Princess, but selfish though it may be, I don't think it's what she wants to show him. Again, SM and LQ came here to see the world and find new perspective, not to reshape it according to their will. The knowledge of her true power might well come with expectation that she will use it. (Though maaaaybe he also wouldn't feel comfortable asking or demanding things of such a being compared to a more grounded but still divine entity?)

And we spent all this effort more or less blending in, too. V:

I'm not too bothered by either option, and right now Heart doesn't need my help if I WAS bothered, but watch this space, I suppose

I do not have any great argument, but the 'he deserves it' part speaks to me in this option. Canonically, Ozpin is the one who held this world together on a prayer and force of will. He may not understand as much with this option, but it conveys the knowledge of just what sort of being he deals with. And I think this is more important than him understanding the Shifting Mound's nature better.

Actually, since it is part of the Princess' reasoning, I have to correct you there, she absolutely wants to show him her whole truth, because she hope he can accept even that and see her as a person even then.

Maybe he can't, maybe he can, but that's her hope.

Maybe you need to go baby steps (as much as showing your heart is baby steps) to allow this, maybe you don't, it's partially a question of trust here.

Basically, do you trust Ozpin to see you and not judge you?

Oh shit, right!

I feel like if anyone could deal with her beyond LQ, it's gotta be Ozpin, right? But throwing it all on at once is a big step, that's true. But given she KNOWS he can handle it, and it's something she wants to show sooner or later...

Wheee

Probably not the best idea, but certainly Interesting ™️ and besides, we didn't get where we are by making entirely good decisions :V

A little precision on that I didn't think about before:

The Stranger is the actual real baby step you could take on explaining your true Nature, even just showing your Heart is past that.

*Long Quiet, reminiscing about the time he gave his weapon to the Witch*: "Tell me about it."
