She looks up at you, "So, I've gotta head there, its only a few minutes away so I can probably get there first. I have had my magpie eyes on a new TV after all~, you want to come with?"
-------------------------
"Sure, my abilities should be able to help too." You agree, snagging your umbrella from where it rests against the wall.
"Yeah, should be pretty useful!" She responds cheerily as you both pull your shoes on.
You tug her back when she goes for the door with a grin. "This is faster."
She pouts as you move to the sliding glass door and slip out onto the balcony.
"Hurry up Sam~" You tease the darker haired girl, knowing she isn't fond of heights. She isn't afraid of them, just prefers not to be near them.
Which had added up to some fun payback which you had delivered in the past for her antics with her own abilities, she should learn not to throw cold at people if she doesn't like seeing the world from a birds eye view.
Once she joins you on the balcony you compress the three story fall and slip over the guardrail, Sam following and studiously ignoring the, as you have heard people describe it, disorientating visual effect of there being a fall to the left and right, while her own path is a simple hop.
The sight is nothing special to you, but when everyone else says it…
Once you are both on the ground you turn to Sam for direction, seeing that she has already shrugged off her discomfort.
"Which way?" You know roughly where you are going, but knowing exactly where will make what you're about to do so much easier.
"Left, then the third right." She has a grin on her face now, as she sees the same thing you do.
Gloriously empty path ways, and not a security drone in sight.
"Ready?" She asks as the pair of you exchange grins.
Dexterity: 20+11 = 31 -> Critical Success
The numbers fly through your mind, Distance becoming more than an abstract concept, now putty in your hand as you
tweak it.
"Lets go!"
The pathway compresses as you and Sam start a dash down the road, her steps matching yours with well practiced ease born of years that you have known one another.
Three hundred meters and change pass in nine synchronized foot falls before you twist 90 degrees and spot a building ablaze down the third avenue on the right.
"Holy hell, how did it get that big?!" An entire building is wreathed in flames, the heat blackening it's neighbors.
You think it might have been a post office before it was a pyre.
"I dunno, they all grow way too fast from what the Post says. Drop me off by the front, then keep it from lightning the ones next to it up, 'kay Ri?" Sam asks as you both take in the sight of the burning building, your phone slipping into your palm and taking a shot after you remember the text's offer.
Perception: 18 -> Fail
You cut the distance down again, the pair of you crossing the road and transferring down the street in an instant.
Sam stops across the road from the building, the sweltering heat not even making the Thermokinetic sweat.
It weighs heavily on you however, so after a casual shot that you don't even stop moving to take you are gone,
hopping backwards up onto the roof of the three story building that stands across from the blaze with casual grace. Sam gives a shake of her head at your photographic antics before focusing on the flaming building
Another snap from this angle and you tuck your phone back into a pocket.
Epic pictures secured, time to make sure the blaze doesn't claim anymore buildings.
You properly focus, numbers and dimensions filling your mind as you
comprehend the building and its surroundings, mathematical equations and expressions that would bring any physics engine to its knees flaring to life within your mind like lightning.
After a couple seconds you know all you will need to for tonight's casual abuse of topology.
A
twist extends the gap between the buildings, isolating it by dozens of meters from its fellow as you take care not to alter its position relative to Sam. After all, you don't want to risk her powers hitting a range limit or something, especially not if that something sounds like 'fireball' or 'spontaneous combustion'.
It is easy enough to keep the distance between them while your long time friend deals with the flame.
Speaking of her, you glance down, checking on Sam who is wrapped in what looks like compressed heat as the fire dies down, its energy being torn from it by the Esper in an impressive display of her power.
Level 4 Thermokinetic indeed.
You look to the right as a distorted wailing reaches your ears, barely recognizable as a fire truck's siren.
They are barely needed at this point, you and Sam have pretty much dealt with it.
A blast of tightly bound flame screams into the sky as your friend unleashes the energy she had stolen from the blaze.
A quick
hop down sees you safely to her side, tapping her on the shoulder.
"All done? I made sure the other buildings are safe." You yawn, feeling a little tired as the days events catching up on you.
Endurance: 13+7 = 20 -> Fail
"Yeah, I got it al- Hey!" She is cut off by you falling into her, the mental stress of the overuse of your power throughout the day, the events since arriving in the city, the amount of travel you had done to get there, all of it adding up to drag you into Morpheus's arms as she catches you.

Apologies for both the lateness and the somewhat noticeable drop in quality, started college Monday, and some other issues have been distracting me all week. Mostly settled back into the routine now though, so the next one shouldn't take a week.
EDIT: Updated to smooth various parts out, and to deal with issues that arose from the rush I was in the first time round.
