We Will Never Die: Rebooted (A Halo Spartan Quest)

Yeah, Like i said, we're on another level of hummanity, but we're still at the end of the day human.

Kinda like the ancient humans that are also a part of us in some small, strange and bullshit way, because DNA is a funny bitch that really needs to be not screwed with by aliens who want us to inherit the mantle of responsibility.
Huh...that kinda reminds me how the Emperor in TTS described the Space Marines, Custodes, Primarchs and Himself: As the next Steps in Human Evolution, just created early through various shortcuts.

Still fundamentally Human, but...well, more.

Light is a good man.

Not a nice man, most certinaly not a moral man... But his heart is in the right place, and he will do everything to protect hummanity from, either itself, or the coming alien menece.

He's just goes about it in a way that is totally... well batshit insane...

But given what the man has gone through, batshit insane is actually a good thing.
That its what everyone says before they try to reverse engineer the Flood.
Uh... Not to burst your bubble, but Cloneing is not what I call...

A Science we will be able to access as we are right now...

Esspecially when, we are about to finish our training, and begin the long process of missions for the UNSC.

And proboly help Halsey take over ONI.
We can't do it right now. But Halsey is going after ONI and you have already offhandedly mentioned that ONI tried the long-gestation cloning process for their own purposes but it was just too little bang for their buck and got taken down or at least mothballed. Which is reasonable because they did the same for the ORIONs for the same reason, several times over.

But if ONI becomes Halsey's, well, hippity-hoppity. And we're going to be Deadspace planet cracking for resources if we need to.

I wonder when we get to put Halsey through slightly simplified augmentations herself. A lot require you start as a child but not all and we're clearly figuring out this whole 'don't kill the patient' thing.
Why would we need that? We can just... well, we can always make the MJNOR Armor into planet killing bombs that explode when we die.
Mostly because I know there are many things far short of death we need to worry about more and... yeah. The Gravemind doesn't let you die.

That much antimatter wouldn't necessarily be all that high a yield. Low to mid kiloton range if you are between half a gram and a gram, likely, which makes it survivable for another suited Spartan in the general vicinity. Not right next to, but on the other end of the battlefield.

I never finished watching TTS and was never super into 40k but didn't Canon Emps explicitly not want that? The Primarchs and SM were supposed to guard, not replace humanity.

Sounds like a plan! I mean if we can fix the precursors we can make the Flood and the Covenant both go away pretty easily. Or make everything worse because even when sane the Precursors were maybe kinda dicks.

I mean the original Orion project was performed on adults. Shouldn't be impossible to implement an updated and improved version.

At least Light isn't that insane to even try that. He's got more smarts and wisdom then pure insanity.

Halsey won't survive the augmentation process... Belive me, if she could have, she would have subjected herself to those horrors as well.

But Miranda can once she's part of the timeline. If Halsey decides to play god again...

Actually knowing our luck, she'll do that, and Miranda wil be a spartan 2.2 or some crap.

Fair enough.

Definitely should piss off more heads

Not 'replace'. What TTS!Emps meant with that is that Humanity would, eventually, evolve to this Level naturally if it was allowed to thrive in Peace. It's just that Space Marines and upwards needed to be artificially created through Science ahead of time to guard Humanity and make this Development possible.

We'll punt that down the road to future wars then.

Ah, well. There are many other ways to cheat.

Yeah. I could see how that would probably set off every Forerunner custodian or guardian device in the galaxy. Stopping that shenanigans was more or less their reason for existence before the Flood were a thing, though they must have been a little bit hypocritical because they had planetary masses of von neumanns lumped together.

There will probably be non-Spartan branches of the augmented... whatever you call the broader family of those who are stretching the idea of humanity... since 'Spartan' is a very specific skill set. What makes a good Spartan isn't what makes a good fleet commander or a good representative of most other fields.

Indeed. Some of them you can even invent.

And that's not getting into the stuff Light would give them.

Yeah... but we might need to wait after the war for us to go all "Hippity hoppity, you'll all be augmented Properly" Phase of our plans.

After the war, if we're still standing, neither of us has any idea of what "augmented properly" is going to look like. I mean, high end Spartan bullshit is probably going to borrow greatly from the technology and biology of most of the things we fought.

In general here? You are no longer at a disadvantage. Things are so far off the rails that you can barely see canon.

The wonder of batshit rolls.

Good, positive PR for S-2 project and some insurance.

If Paragonsky will shut us down or starts killing us, UNSC Command will ask awkward questions.
More like they will ask all the right questions... at the wrong people.

And those Wrong people, will go to jail. Leaving us a single year to do whatever the hell we want.

Hello paycheck, we missed you.
btw. how much do they owe us? Standard pay or do augmented child-soldiers get more?

Actually, they owe each spartan about ten million... after taxes. Turns out that child labor laws written back in the 2400's make the UNSC have to pay more because child soldiers are bad and they need to be compensated for their pain and suffering.

they owe us about 1 billion credits, after taxes because of all of our own patents they cheated us out of.
