Unpopular opinions we have on fiction

"Let's go! open up, it's time for Unpop!"
Alright, time for my mandatory Unpopular Opinions Post. Let's get this over with.
"You're late. You know the deal. You can Omelaspost for a Funny, or you can make an interesting post for an Insightful."
Here in Unpopular Opinions Poster Civilisation, no one chooses to make interesting posts. It's better to make the one joke everyone knows for the Funny, rather than risk your entire life for just one Insightful rating.
"Tomorrow you better not be late, or I'll have you posting for Informative reactions as punishment."
"Yes sir, sorry, I won't be late next time."

Down here, us Omelasposters only get one Rating a day. One Funny rating is just enough to get your post:reaction ratio to the next day. But that's the life of Unpopular Opinions Poster Civilisation. If you wanna survive, you have to Unpopular Opinions Post. Every Omelasposter has the same goal, and that's to make it to the top thread, where all the Brothers Karamazovposters live. Except, most Brothers Karamazovposters are born on the top thread. If you're an Omelasposter, there's only one way up, and that is through the Temple of Unpopular Opinions. The Temple of Unpopular Opinions is the only structure on SV that combines the bottom thread to the top thread. To make it up, you have to post an impossibly hard Unpopular Opinion Reply that no Omelasposter has ever completed. And that's assuming you even get the chance to post the reply in the thread. The inside of the Temple is protected by a barrier and the only way an Omelasposter gets past the barrier is if they've earned a gilded post. I've never even tried getting a gilded post before, but if I'm going to rank up to a Brothers Karamazovposter one day, I'm gonna have to.

One that's very good: I like Jotaro Kujo (JJBA) and he's my favorite JoJo (note that I say "my personal favorite", no the best of the entire series). And he isn't a bland protagonist IMO.

I actually don't like the idea of optimism being inherently more mature than cynicism; also, I really think that there needs to be more media with Hunter x Hunter's peculiar take on morality, with the show essentially being Blue Vs Orange morality more than anything, and even when it isn't, it's still gray Vs grey, not black Vs white.

You realize that this is mostly a reaction to literally endless streams of shows saying the exact opposite?

And all sorts of other media.

Still, though, there's more examples of "shut up silly rabbit, cynicism is for losers" than "shut up silly rabbit, optimism is for kids."

Also, Tiger and Bunny is better than Madoka Magica.

People online do seem to jump on your ass if you try to talk about cynical and dark works being more interesting or insightful. If you try to extol the virtues of cynical works you're liable to be called pretentious and an edgelord.

I wouldn't say Hunter x Hunter has an especially peculiar take on morality; it comes across as pretty cut and dried to me. Characters sometimes act in ways you wouldn't expect because their own values system is different from the norm, but the narrative consequences of their actions are pretty vanilla.

There are? Nowadays? Because it's only been a decade of less since people stopped writing 'realism' when they mean 'cynicism (in the modern sense of the word)' after the Rakish Nineties, and there still seems to be a cynical bias towards the concepts of maturity leftover.

I'd be curious of big examples, because I like them, but mostly encounter much more cynical stuff like Breaking Bad, BSG, Daredevil, and Man of Steel, and much less of the idealistic stuff like the original Superman (1978), Star Trek or the Flash (2014). I mean if they're really all around me, maybe I'm looking in the wrong places, and you know how I should adjust my approaches to choosing stuff to play/watch.

The Twilight series was, if not a masterpiece, a decent enough read, I preferred the star wars prequels to the originals, Bayformers were awesome,I found the hunger games boring enough to only make it 2 pages into the first book, Jumper was a good movie, I also really liked the 1998 Emmerich Godzilla, and the Mark Wahlberg Planet of the Apes, there is a sizeable list of B-movies I find enjoyable, Tremor , Battle: Los Angeles as examples.

...I'm not going to comment on most of this, but if you only read two pages of a book, you have no right to even talk about it one way or another, except in special circumstances.

The 2005 King Kong movie was really, really good.

SHUT UP ROGER EBERT GAVE IT FOUR STARS NAOMI WATTS WAS GREAT YOU DONT EVEN KNOW
